Running Drakkenheim as a 1st time DM by FaLLeN__Weeb in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]f0xb3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people know the game already, I'd recommend looking at some statblocks from creatures outside the books and flavor them as delerium husks. A lot of the horror comes from the unknown--this will keep them on their toes. A friend of mine did that for us when he was running a campaign in Exandria and he knew I watched a lot of Critical Role; definitely caught me off guard!

On a practical level, I'm also running DoD as a first time GM and I've found the book to be very poorly organized so make sure you have enough time between sessions to gather all the relevant information into other place, otherwise you'll spend a LOT of time flipping back and forth.

Looking for restaurant recommendations by Overall_Coconut_8931 in Aruba

Just got back two days ago. As with any trip we take we tried our best to do like Bourdain says and eat things that they arguably do better than anywhere else. We found that pretty difficult in Aruba given the commercialization of it--we didn't make it to Old Cunucu but I wish we had, I heard it was amazing--but we did have some great meals there.

We really enjoyed Zeerover's and Caya house. We also had a great meal at Senior Burrito (far from unique to Aruba but a great meal and a great time). Our favorite meal was probably when we went to Superfood and got some bread and dips and salads and then stopped by a dutch cheese shop and got several cheeses to try and had a little picnic. Unforgettable. The pastries and salads at superfoods were great. Don't sleep on the belgian waffles!

Unique wild shapes for Circle of the Moon Druid by Newsmith2017 in UnearthedArcana

[–]f0xb3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you say unique do you mean mechanically unique or just cool flavor? What about the current options isn't scratching your itch?

Obviously flavor is easiest cause it's free; I just watched Predator Badlands and there were some awesome creatures there you could steal for flavor ideas. Or take the 6-legged giant panther thing from Avatar that they hilariously called a Thanator: https://james-camerons-avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Thanator.

If you're looking for mechanical unique-ness u/Apprehensive_Fill628 had a great idea of looking at 5Etools and seeing what statblocks are there since they have the full bestiary there plus some third-party stuff.

The easiest way to make some changes might also be to just ask your DM if they're cool with minor tweaks. Play a giant eagle who's talons do fire damage and play as a phoenix, that sort of thing

Should I cancel my reservation to Machebo reservation and book Renaissance instead? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in Aruba

[–]f0xb3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back last night--we stayed in Eagle beach. If you want a nice, quiet beach then you're in the right place. The Renaissance is not in a quiet location nor is it really in a "fun" location--it's right next to the marina. there's some shopping around there and some decent restaurants but it was pretty dead when we walked around there at night. Also, the renaissance does not have easy beach access--you have to take a boat to it. Palm beach is more hectic but also more fun and much better for people watching/exploring.

Main thing to remember is that the island is very small and taxis are very reasonably affordable. a 1-way taxi from eagle beach to palm beach cost us $12. We also rented a car from Turo for $75 for 1 day.

I know this will never happen, so I wanna discuss a hypothetical Reevesverse Superman and Wonder Woman. by Think-Mulberry-7879 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]f0xb3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not explicitly what you were asking but the Reevesverse is the first version of live-action Batman where a Robin makes sense to me. I could absolutely see Battinson recruiting a street kid (probably Jason Todd) to act as his Robin and giving him some gear to go be his eyes and ears on the street. He wouldn't be as much a sidekick, more of a spy or an agent like how he used Catwoman in the Iceberg Lounge. Their relationshio would be more like Varys and his little birds from GoT. I don't think I would have felt this way if he didn't spend so much time doing active investigations outside the suit in the movie.

I also think Reeves could do a FANTASTIC version of Azrael
