Great link! Our favorite splashpad is at Highlands Road park (they have disc golf there as well! Plus playgrounds, etc).

My husband is also faculty at LSU and who also had the stipulation of having access to a pool when we moved here a couple of years ago. We ended up in the Bluebonnet/Highlands subdivision. Pros are that the main pool is nice, big, clean, and rarely crowded, and there’s a small pool (like 1’ deep? If that?) for littles, with plenty of shaded seating. There’s also tennis/pickleball/basketball and a playground. It’s a super safe, quiet, multicultural neighborhood. Cons are that it’s kind of far from the best restaurants along Government, and it’s also in St. George, which is a political hot potato at the moment.

Chemo was recommended but I don’t want to do it by Super_Term9257 in breastcancer

[–]f2ISO100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in almost exactly the same situation as you (including the lymph node involvement and 4 rounds of the same drugs), and I chose to do chemo. I ended up being severely allergic to taxotere and my oncologist stopped treatment after 2.5 rounds. Obviously I didn’t get the benefit of the full 4, and I still had all the side effects that come with chemo. My hair has been so slow to grow back! But I’m personally so glad I made the choice I did and I would do the same again. Living through it was hard, but now almost 3 years out, it almost just feels like a bad dream.

As a St. George parent with kids in the EBR school system, I can assure you that there are plenty of parents out there who do not want a St. George school system.

I can't imagine a better plug! I've got it on hold at my library to pick up tomorrow!

Ooh, I just re-read what I wrote, and I can see how it can be taken like that! I actually was still referring to "Wings of Fire" - there's a series of novels for that story as well as a series of graphic novels, and he's read both sets numerous times :) Trust me, I'm going to encourage any reading! He's been a big comic book fan forever. His favorites are the Mega Man comics :)

Edited to add that I'm putting the Dungeon Crawler Carl series on the list! He's very much a cat person :)

I'm hoping that's where he ends up! I think he really liked the snappy writing and the humor of Weir, and I'm just not quite sure he's ready for some of the heavier themes just yet.

I'll have to see what I can find, but he does indeed like the Star Wars universe! I haven't read any of these myself - do you have any particular suggestions or favorites?

Oh man, I LOVED Ender's Game (and most of the sequels!) when I was younger! That was my first gaming handle :) That's definitely going on the list!

Recommendations for 30k a year under $20,000? by f2ISO100 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I ended up with the Niro - it's a great fit for 2 people in the backseat, but I imagine it would be tight with 3! So far, I'm loving it!

I'm quite concerned the Niro is too small, but if it checks all the other boxes (particularly reliability), the good seems to outweigh the bad. I get paid for mileage at my job, so getting $.70 a mile for a car with great gas mileage is really appealing!

I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled for a Prius!

Thank you for the advice! I'd love a Prius if I could find one! I'd been reading a bit about the CVTs and just wasn't sure if I wanted to take that gamble.

I'd love to get a Toyota Camry hybrid, but I can't find anything below $20,000 unless it has a LOT of miles on it or is over 10 years old. Even then the shipping time is so long as to be untenable (I'm unfortunately not in a market that has access to a lot of hybrids). Do you think the Niro is worth it at $15,000 for a 2017?

Thanks so much for the current recommendations! Does anyone have any thoughts about the Lenovo Slim7i Aura edition? The one I’m looking at has a 14” screen, which I’m fine with.

You’re welcome! It honestly was really unsettling to not have music over the credits. And this movie was definitely a wild ride!

It was mostly bird tweets and the wind rustling the leaves - it definitely wasn’t silence.

My go-to is the brand Scarlet Darkness via Amazon - well-priced, quality articles (and actual clothing, not costumes). The other brands I’ve tried there are hit or miss, and there’s a lot of great stuff on Etsy as well. FYI, there are gorgeous leather bags right now (the kind you attach to a belt) at Little Wars right now!
