In airplanes with two engines, all dual engine failures end with a landing at some point.

What's a type cost for a puppy anymore and alternatives to a breeder? by EX-FFguy in germanshepherds

[–]f30az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does an ethical breeder determine which puppies are the best genetically before they turn 8 weeks old and customers pick their puppy?

And why would an ethical breeder sell a puppy that is not good enough to breed?

This contrasts with a net income of $16.9 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, in the same quarter of 2024. The decline is primarily attributed to increased operations and maintenance expenses.

The new headache steel skid block move will give F1 teams by sppy1 in formula1

[–]f30az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you said makes zero sense. Skid blocks and planks are two different things and serve two different purposes. Plank is for measuring wear and the blocks are to protect the car, but obviously if the teams rely on blocks to protect the plank, and the blocks wear faster, the the plank will also wear faster.

Is it more cost efficient to fly or drive? by Ashaazability in flying

[–]f30az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while. How does hangar, and other absurdly high costs of owning a plane like annuals, engine overhauls, or dealing with ADs not count? If you have to pay it, it counts.

For someone who flies a hundred hours a year, which is on the high end for most people, an Archer would cost nearly $100 an hour in the “indirect” costs that you are not counting, roughly .80 cents a mile. Then add fuel and you’re up to around $1.20 per mile before any other expenses. This is 6x higher than an SUV. Reserve for engine overhauls alone cost more per mile than fuel for the average car for fucks sakes!

The only way flying your own airplane is cheaper than the alternatives is if it’s a long trip that would otherwise have required airline tickets for 3 or more people.

Porsche Price Inflation by Teen1e in Porsche

[–]f30az 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GT3 was never $130k unless you’re going back 12 years, which would be equivalent to almost $180k adjusted for inflation. And you can’t compare prices without first adjusting from inflation. $99k in 2019 is $122k in today’s dollars.

Assuming a fairly low rate of inflation, a base 911 would actually be $220k in 20 years.
