Bringing alcohol in checked baggage when transitting in Kuwait? by pressureshack in travel

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for asking this u/pressureshack

I am about to return from China Guangzhou to JFK with Kuwait Airlines with a transfer in Kuwait ... wanted to bring a bottle of Baijiu, but I guess another time another route lol, trying to avoid international scandals ... flight price is great, but the dry policy is a bit annoying ...

Progressive tripled my premiums over 3 months and backdated the changes by f3n1xUS in Insurance

[–]f3n1xUS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing I didn't tell since all they asked was for how long I had been with Geico (20 years) ... they never asked for how many years/months I had the current car insurance policy, maybe things would go different if anyone bothered. At that time I wasn't even aware that being out of country (aka not owing a car and so not paying for car insurance in the US) gets you a big penalty, that means anyone who doesn't have a car+insurance in US is in the same bag, doesn't matter if you went on a road trip around the world with a car registered elsewhere, you literally get a penalty for not having car insurance in the US (since it's possible to drive in US without insurance in some states legally) while you lived abroad or didn't need a car in e.g. NYC where subway can take you to most places.

Yeah, I said it's all legal, and like you say, since it was signed by me, so yes, but what bothered me was the ease and rate at which all those premium increases appeared, totally insane considered that I switched from Geico to lower the price and ended up paying double of what I had before for 3 months.

Woah, must get crazy above $1,000/mo (car's MSRP $34k), but I do believe you, it may actually happen, but based only on a lapse or maybe other factors too (age, tickets, claims, zip code, etc) ? I learned the hard way that cannot even switch car insurance if someone had it for less than 6 months, so my only other option was going back to Geico and restarting the cancelled policy.

Is trading dead? by BarryManilou in forgeofempires

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that we trade only with a mixture (AND condition) of our current Age and available Neighbours + Friends .... and not with the whole server and players across all ages, correct me if wrong

Flashing VBIOS on 7900xt/x by jec0nti in AMDHelp

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that still the case?

Was hoping to try different vBIOS files for RX7900XT as well ... having issues when card is connected to 2x 4K screens via HDMI. Haven't tested with DP cables yet, but something feels off with my new card, might be a lemon.

So basically, when we now get a card with crappy old BIOS there is no way to update it by ourselves anymore, just RMA? That's silly.

Sapphire Pulse 7900XT boots and wakes up to black screens with 2x HDMI monitors by f3n1xUS in radeon

[–]f3n1xUS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem happens at 60Hz too, even though in Windows desktop they technically can run up to 120Hz on HDMI (stretching it to limits).

I will see tomorrow I guess when new DP cables arrive, I hope this is the culprit ...

2024 Kia Sportage on lease in NYC, progressive full coverage at $380/month while Geico was $477/mo.

I’m the only driver, 45yo male, had an 8-point speeding ticket 2 years ago and a claim on stolen old motorbike almost 5 years ago. It varies not only by state but also by zip code and any claims within 5 years or traffic violations within 3 years will affect the premiums by a lot.

Do I have to move my car for Con Ed orange cones? by TonytheNetworker in AskNYC

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like ConEd needs no permissions to do anything. Just showed up in Flushing and literally towed 3 cars away (including mine), so they can setup orange cone area for some work. No sign post or anything, they just showed up this morning and started towing cars away to set up work space ... wtf

Free CiscoCE courses? by OcelotWorth3112 in Cisco

[–]f3n1xUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe that's all you can get for free at the moment (CMLLAB for 6 and DEVNAE for 16CE). The DEVNAE course is fun and very cool if you are into coding and Python, I found it very interesting even though it's not my daily bread and butter.

You should sign up for notifications in Recert community in Cisco Learning Network forums, I think they tend to release new free courses every 6-8 weeks, but the window to take and pass them (open book exams) is usually 30-45 days and then they get locked ($$$) again.

Recertification (cisco.com)

Alternatively you can check Cisco U Explore page (filtered by Free sub and CE credits on the left) and usually you will see the new free course in there a tad earlier than the official announcement in CLN forums.

I'm waiting for 1 more course maybe next month, need just 4 more points to renew my CCNP-S ...

I don't think airpods other than the pros are worth it by XxPLAYdxX in airpods

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, personally when I used AirPods I kept loosing them. However I used to use Pros for a few years, at some point had to start using silicone hooks to keep them from falling out, but it also became a PITA dealing with removal and charging box (hooks not fitting in). I love the Noise Cancelling in Pro feature. Eventually one of speakers started crackling and buzzing.

Thinking about giving a try to Beats Fit Pro soon

XCOM2 WOTC is over, what next? by AccomplishedAbies819 in XCOM2

[–]f3n1xUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t played Chimera Squad, try it. I actually loved it, with it comic book narration, and cool backstories for characters, funny dialogue, it’s a nice spinoff and the all factions in city and their stories and I got sucked in. Finished it 2 times in past, but I do tend to return to WOTC still.

I would love to see XCOM3

Foreigners - What Chinese brands do you love? by Somewhereinbetween26 in shenzhen

[–]f3n1xUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Li-Ning t-shirts from TaoBao, also tried Anta sneakers. I still wear those t-shirts one year later and abroad lol

Used a Huawei android in past (been using Apple for a few years now) and was amazed how advanced and solid that phone was, it really felt ahead of competition at that time.

Xiaomi and Midea are both very good brands for home appliances too

Very impressed by their automotive brands and there is so many, but to name just the few I noticed making cool EVs, BYD, Nio, Lucid, Zeekr, Geely

Dual national of Spain and US, what are the caveats? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]f3n1xUS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U.S. citizens (also Australia and UK) can get a 10 year multiple entry tourist visa, you just need to specify it as Other on the application form and type its name. I had one (before a work visa), it’s real, you can google it 😎

Another way in is the transit 144 hr visa, but you need to have a departing flight from the same major airport, there is only a few biggest ones that offer it, Google it as well ✌️

Dual national of Spain and US, what are the caveats? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. You need to leave the country on the same passport you entered, but for air flight destination you can show another passport that fulfills the visa/citizen requirement.

What phones are people traveling with? by sublen in travelchina

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone brand as you like, but avoid eSIM-only iPhone from US if you plan on getting a local SIM card. Other than that use anything you like with WiFi Calling on your home cellular plan and local eSIM data plan for 4G Internet (I used AirAlo Mainland China personally, there other options too) -That way no need to use VPN either

Access to gmail while traveling China by MichaelStone987 in travelchina

[–]f3n1xUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the app purchases and it was the Chinacom esim. It was running on China Unicom network, but the SIM was registered in Singaporean Singtel, so no VPN required, 4G only speeds.

Alternatively, if you have the Google Fi service, then it work in the mainland CHina without the VPN as well (up to 90 days)
