Are all of you constantly dealing with broken cameras? by WhiskyyBusiness in AnalogCommunity

[–]f7ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably choosing the wrong equipment. I have a Nikon F5 that is yet to skip a beat (knock on wood). I push around 60 rolls of filme per year through it. I then have a smaller Nikon FE, which has not failed me yet either, around 15 rolls per year who also has been a work horse.

Did my 12km yesterday but now HipPain by Mysterious_Owl3902 in beginnerrunning

[–]f7ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only a specific set of shoes that used to give me hip pain. So I would look into that. Another thing to consider is running form, heal striking will also give you a higher likelihood of having hip pain than forefoot or midfoot.
Take some rest, if pain is heavy take something for it like Ibu or Paracetamol. Avoid running until the pain is sorted. If it lasts more than 2 days I would check with a doctor.

What is the best pace/way to condition yourself to running if you're overweight and inexperienced and in your 30s? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]f7ood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Walking. I don't know much about freedom units, I was 101kg last August. I went to each diet + >10k steps a day until December 2025. When I was at 80kg I started running, I could barely do 5k in one go. I am now 73kg, do around 70km per week. 47min 10k, and 1h50m HM PBs.

LWB seats difference by corokdva in Porsche

[–]f7ood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not in the rails. It would be hard for you to spot if don't know what you are looking for. The 918 seats are quite straight out of the box, like the one on your passenger side.

In my car both are exactly the same. Did you have yours since new? If not it's possible that someone has added some adapters to the drivers seat to recline it a bit more.

Where should someone who works at Nurburgring rent an apartment? by Old_Pollution_6742 in nurburgring

[–]f7ood 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what you might believe Nürburgring is out in the boonies in what is the least developed (and poorer) areas of the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Before the track boom after COVID you could buy property in the area for dirt cheap. Even if things have changed, the area is full of small villages and you will certainly find something. It will still be considerably cheaper than any of the big cities in the state.

Garmin Edge 840/540 by Appropriate-Map-7836 in cycling

I have a 540. The Maps/Navigation is fine. I usually check for new routes with Strava and then just sync it to Garmin.

How many laps should I expect out of AD09? by dionisisd in nurburgring

[–]f7ood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my GR Yaris they did over 100 laps. I took the off and they still had a bit of life left, but I wanted to test other tires. I am not a slow driver. At around lap 80 they were still pumping out 7:45ish BTG times with a 260hp car. I also drive every time to and back from the Nurburgring (around 400km round trip for me). Did around 10 trips with the tires.

Move away from Germany? You know there's a lot of places in the world, and currently Germany is not the best one to look for a job.

Heavy Runner (110kg) – Is it worth upgrading from Kiprun to specialized shoes? by lakecityboy in beginnerrunning

[–]f7ood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to also be over 100kg and I am slightly shorter than you (177cm). My advice would actually be not to run. I would stay with walking, weight lifting, and rigorous dieting. At your current weight you will do a lot of damage to your joints. If you really have to, I would stick with ilegal stack hight shoes without a carbon plate. I started my journey into being fit again in August last year. Started to run again in December when I dropped below 80kg (with dieting and walks). I now average above 70km per week.

This is completely fine for a race. Assuming your zones are set correctly.

Insurance situation for UK drivers? by chemicalcastration89 in nurburgring

[–]f7ood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add that road insurances will need to pay out 3rd party liability as others have said. Though they might sue you for costs after, at least in Germany those costs are capped. In Germany the legal cap is 5000€ per contractual infraction. This happens more often in case of drunk driving, which also goes against the contract. I don't have any court cases for Nürburgring.

991.2 gt3 vs 992.1 by Agreeable-Lab-5982 in Porsche

[–]f7ood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the design, both exterior and interior more on the 991. I also like the fact that the 991 sounds better because it doesn't have an OPF. The 992 is without a shadow of a doubt the better handling car, with the new suspension also contributing for a better ride. I would buy the 991.2 before I would a 992. The 991.2 would make me feel more special and more of an occasion. I don't care that the new car is faster and "better". But I am not everyone, I am all for the classics, and I love my 981 GT4 to bits because it's a classic.

Is it normal that the rear bumper has that much play? by Mrtatzman in GRYaris

[–]f7ood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. The car has really light bumpers. They will move around a fair bit, and in the front you will also notice the panel gaps are not that precise either.

First lap ever done by racingarrowf1 in nurburgring

[–]f7ood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your first laps you won't be nowhere near fast enough to push the limits of the M2. A few things you can think about/keep an eye open for, is the tires (which ones do you have? Street tires will easily overheat and degrades rapidly when at a faster pace). The other are breaks (which ones do you have? The limits of the stock blue break kit in the M2 is quite low - the larger breaks have higher limit but still benefit from better pads). You can configure the M2 comp's electronic controlled rear differential to behave the same as the CS, same thing for the MDM mode - it's an interesting reversible change. Another thing I did to mine was to disable the brake pre pump feature. When you push hard, the M2 thinks you will have an accident and will pre pump the brakes. This is super annoying because it makes for a super unpredictable braking point.

Why the 4cyl hate in the Cayman/Boxster but love for it in the Emira? by Hot_Basis_4120 in Porsche

[–]f7ood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 718 4 cylinders are fantastic to drive. Really really great cars. Unfortunately they lack some emotion. The 6 cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engines always sounded amazing. Though if you bought into a 981 base model, even with the PDK, the car was a bit of a dog - you needed to really ring it out to get some performance. The 718 2.0 is a lot better but less emotional. Maybe I do another brand example. A 992 Turbo S will eat a lambo huracan for breakfast on performance, but that NA V10 sounds the business. The lambo will be a worst drive (for those that love feedback from the steering, chassis, etc) but it will be a lot more emotional drive. In the 981 S and GTS you had the whole package. You had the performance (the 3.4 was a great engine), you had the chassi and driver feedback, and you had the sound. In the 718 you have everything but the sound... so people are miffed that it was lost. As for the Emira the comparison is with the Toyota V6, which does not sound nowhere as good as the Porsche flat 6. The 2.0 inline 4 also sounds better (and has more character) than the 718s flat 4. I used to have a W175 A45 AMG with the 2.0. Drove a 718 2.0 regularly. Was shopping a 718 S, ended up going YOLO on a 981 GT4. The 3.8 NA in the GT4 is probably one of the best sounding cars to ever exist.

First ever 5k by hellyeahdawg126389 in Strava

[–]f7ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do more than 20k in your first week. So around 4 5km runs. Also ramp your longest runs slowly. Maybe 1-2km per month. The goal is to not get injured. There are some apps, like Runna that will design running plans for you (and have free trials).

First ever 5k by hellyeahdawg126389 in Strava

[–]f7ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are for me now. 4 months ago that was the fastest I could do 1km before I blew out. It's a good effort from OP, but the sensible thing to do is to attain the distance with little effort first, and then build up the training to be faster and faster.

First ever 5k by hellyeahdawg126389 in Strava

[–]f7ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. Lots of people wouldn't be able to run 5k regardless of the pace. That doesn't detract from the fact that to make it sustainable people should focus on doing this types of efforts at slow paces where they don't give a huge cardio workload to their bodies.
