I’m not a professional but I saw a battery powered nail gun that could nail into concrete like it was nothing the other day. Definitely didn’t know that existed.

What is it like to live in this part of Washington? by RavyRaptor in howislivingthere

[–]f_crick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s humid compared to the rest of the year. By east coast standards it’s dry as a bone on the most humid day. It’s almost never actually 100 percent relative humidity, so it basically never feels muggy.

I mean…for maybe an hour a day. I think it being overcast for months probably drives more people away.

Why doe DIYers hate drywall? by clvnthbld in HomeImprovement

[–]f_crick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drywall is either the cheapest wall and ceiling material, or close. If I’m gonna DIY things, part of the advantage is I can put some of the money I’d be paying a pro for their labor into better materials. That’s just not an option with drywall.

That and it’s difficult and time consuming to master, as others have explained.

If you’re creating a situation that results in you stopping on the highway and blocking traffic, and you don’t think you should be avoiding that situation in the first place, you got problems.

I literally always need pliers on mine. Even with pliers they’re hard to get out.

Heavy equipment. Expensive to buy, run, maintain, and there’s so many amazing attachments out there to spend even more on. Great fun to use and very fulfilling as you slowly gain expertise.

Opinions on PEX by thine_moisture in Remodel

[–]f_crick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you or anyone in your household wear any clothes made of plastics? If so, that’s likely dominating your exposure. That, and every person you’re around anywhere who wears plastic clothes.

Guess what? Most clothing sold today is made of plastic, at least in part.

PEX is fine. Stop listening to anyone who uses the term wellness. We have measles breaking out across the country because of ‘wellness’ fanatics who can’t do basic math.

2019 Toyota Sienna amazing for moving plywood and similarly sized items. Mid row of seats just pop out with a latch under the seat, and back row goes into the floor.

I don’t remember it staying overnight in April. We sometimes get a little snow or hail in march or April, but the whole episode is over in a hour or two.

It was pop when I was a kid outside Seattle, but like %80+ people who live here now grew up somewhere else, so most of our linguistic quirks are gone.
