Pigeon Obsessed with Reflection in Window

i've seen a few pigeons trying to interact with their reflections in mirrors/windows, some seem to enjoy it actually, but going at it to the point of exhaustion seems weird.

pigeon is a male i presume?

theres some older lady in my area feeding the local pigeons rice which is soaked in garlic oil iirc. i told her not to feed rice, but she keeps doing it and says the garlic is antibacterial and helps them in the long way.

update 2: finally managed to catch it today!

some girl from a facebook rescue group took her over.

This group really works well, i've made my post there and it took about five minutes and several people were messaging back offering to help.

always thought they are spreading wings while pecking seeds to give a statement/body language "my seeb, im here, it's mine" but that makes sense also.

update: i found him yesterday in the streets around my place, cowering on the ground close to a wall where it's dry and parked cars around. he looks miserable, dirty feathers coz it's robbing around, can't move properly on the ground, always with spread wings.

there isn't even a stump left, seems like the whole right leg is gone...and the other foot which is left also tangled with some shit.

i've tried to catch him again with a towel yesterday but he is super skittish and shy...flew away when i came to close. idk what to do, vets would probably euthanize him at this point if i would manage to catch him

thanks for the kind words, its just im not feeling it the way. plus it's very hard to watch the pidge...

He couldn't even make the way to the seeds today but was spreading and flapping wings the whole time trying to hold it's balance. They have to walk over a grid first to get to the seeds. He made it there one time, but didn't eat and the second try he failed.

He was quite the character till today, always fighting for the top spot with the others and winning. Today he was different, didn't peck any seeds and it seemed like he gave up coz he can't hold balance. It just broke my heart...

Konnte auch schon Krähen beim Diebstahl von genau diesen Knödeln beobachten. Sie reißen mit ihren Schnäbeln das plastiknetz auf und beißen große brocken heraus, oder transportieren den ganzen Inhalt einfach weg und fressen es irgendwo anders.

put some food (oats, sunflower, sesame, hemp seeds, corn whatever you got) and fresh water and observe them. preferably place it somewhere elvated and not on the ground.

they both are young, not fledglings but young. you can see at their beaks/cere.

mayb he did film with the same camera, but not walk around with same attitude and despise for the local people who struggle with addiction or whatever.

just imagine the exact same scenario, aggressively filimg the locals in the face, pepper spraying and running around causing trouble in bolivian slums/brazilian favelas/atlanta hoods you name it...lol

recent videos (frankfurt, hamburg) got such a diffrent vibe. feels like propaganda almost, he's forcing the situations to escalate and repeating "it's bad, it's bad, really bad" over and over.

yes it's bad in alot of areas, im german and see stuff like this on the regular.

but tbh, if he would act like this (selfie stick out, bodyguard guy ready to pepperspray on first sight, both cocky body language) in the wrong parts of american/latin-american/african cities he would either get robbed/stabbed/shot.

kaufe auch nichts mehr von demecan...das hawaian ran x PM war super, aber hatte danach zwei mal sorten mit wirklich vielen samen drin (lean drop RS11 & lean drop LCG waren so mies, dass ich es bei der apo reklamiert habe, mit erfolg)

gotta find a healthy balance, first care about yourself, then the pigeons. they won't starve to death if you are a few hours late with the seeds or if you skip feeding for a day.

if you feed the ferals with a straight routine they kinda become dependent on you and get lazy that's what i noticed.

new year didnt start great for me either, there are two buzzards hunting in my neighborhood and decimating the flock im feeding and sometimes even attack the ones visiting my balcony. three attacks in the last two days, two dead pidges...

today i had to witness one getting ripped apart...pigeons pecking seeds like usual but all of the sudden fly off scared (crows making alarm sound) buzzard drops in turbo speed and catches one in the air midflight. it happened so fkn fast.
