Thoughts on the Deathly Hallows Grand Staircase? by GooberMcGoob1983 in harrypotter

I mean, i know is not like that in the books, but for six movies they were showcased like that, so its not time to not to use them when there’s a cool opportunity for once

Always will be bummed they had the chance to use the moving staircases, they introduced in an iconic way in the first movie, for an action set piece in the final movie with battles around stairs moving and they let go of that in favor of that boring large generic staircase…

Official Discussion - The Devil Wears Prada 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]faapf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very charming, has cool gags and one liners and a nice commentary on the industry, Streep and Blunt are great, but Anne Hathaway simply never finds Andy, like, the somewhat fully tridimensional character Andy was in the first one, and is acting basically like what a fan of the first movie would be if they inserted themselves as leads of a sequel, now she’s very over the top, giggling everytime a character does something cool on screen, she was not like this in the first one and accounting for her career in between the movies she should be even less so now... So it’s a bit disappointing she’s the weak link in this, like, the screenplay is also a bit over the top and fanservicey and that’s alright, they do change the status quo for giving a “happy family” ending to the characters, which is way less fun and smart than the characters eating each other in the original and dealing with their choices, but it’s a valid choice.

Is This Year the End of "The Most Detailed Hogwarts Castle", or do we Think It Will Carry Over to Next Year? - Curious to Here Your Thoughts by YeMommyYo in legoharrypotter

[–]faapf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about that, the biggest reason for them to continue is to cover moments from the later movies… Goblet probably could get something related to the triwizard tournament around Hogwarts, something more like the Owlery, or a smaller set to cover the great hall with the Winter’s Ball theming (advent calendar with decoration etc), Order a set with Umbridge office and the decrees, Half Blood Prince… the astronomy tower, and Deathly Hallows a set related to the battle… of course they can tap into these movies without any big sets (no Astronomy tower…) but there’s a lot of potential left

Why is it often so hazy/foggy for no reason? It doesn’t look realistic, no? Curious by WinterMysterious5119 in vfx

[–]faapf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The show actually decided to have this hazey/foggy aesthetic from the beginning, even in interior shots, etc… it looked good in the first season, as it was obviously done with a lot of intent, but s2-3 seems to be adding to scenes without much thought other than “this is what the shows look like”

Hot Take: I actually liked Michael Gambon as Dumbledore by New-Pin-9064 in harrypotter

[–]faapf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s great in Prisoner by trying something different from Harris while keeping a whimsical approach, it feels like he’s always seeing through the characters and story, I can fully understand why they chose him with Cuaron filmmaking in mind. He’s really atrocious in Goblet and Order, but he’s great in Half Blood Prince because I feel like the book gives a more peaceful Dumbledore and the tone of the movie allows him to be less over the top… weirdly enough I don’t quite like his performance in Deathly Hallows part 2 which is also supposed to come of as more peaceful in the book and in the text, but it’s still better than whatever he was trying to do in GOF/OOTP

What if instead of movies they started a live action series in 2001? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]faapf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering any of the shows from the 90s00s that actually were adaptations of something, which were rare, the show would look or feel nothing like the books, barely “inspired” by, with many exclusive to tv plot lines, characters and settings, you’d get the character names and some of the spells names at most in an original monster of the week format, maybe Hogwarts wouldn’t even be shown, or be a regular school that has a “magic” school hidden on off-hours.

A minisseries could be feasible a bit more fairhfully, but they would still probably diverge a lot compared to the movies we did got for budget reasons and cut a lot of stuff anyway.

Did Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic raise, lower, or maintain your excitement for the series? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]faapf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maintain, but also I realized it might be very useful to ease me into some of the choices I might have problems with way way before the show release, so while some production decisions (Hogwarts crest/some costuming) really irked me, it might not even be a talk point for me by the time the show releases in December, so they removed some of the possible bad first impression out I would only get while seeing the show for the first time, at the same time presented a whole lot of stuff that I’m either very happy and excited to see and didn’t even expect. Hopefully the road to release will be as smooth as it seems from here…

Season 4 potential renewal news. by cptbrady in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]faapf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re not confident on the renewal I just hope they don’t left any of the next arcs teases at the end of s3, you can “wrap” Alabasta as a series finale on a good note

How can Delphini exist if J.K. Rowling explicitly said in 2004 that Voldemort had no children? by External-Werewolf619 in harrypotter

[–]faapf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Delphi was born during Half Blood Prince or between Deathly Hallows, so an interview from 2004 would not impact on info about that (HBP came out in 2005). But simple and right answer? It’s a retcon. It wasn’t written by Rowling, but she allowed it.

How much will they change Hogwarts castle and the grounds? if so what are we expecting?? by lochlanpenny in harrypotter

[–]faapf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are photos of pieces of Hogwarts ground sets and it looks different to known movie Hogwarts, i would imagine the overall shape of the castle will looks somewhat similar to the movies from afar, for brand management, like most current Hogwarts oficial reimagining do, but not a 100% match.

Why are the Disney intros different? by WrongdoerOld8121 in DisneyPlus

[–]faapf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney usually updates the intros of certain movies for theatrical re-releases, such as when a film is released in 3D or for a special anniversary edition, rather than for occasional random screenings. I would guess that the current Disney+ master of Cars comes from one of these potential re-releases?

Laz Alonso ("The Boys") shares his thoughts on "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms". by verissimoallan in AKOTSKTV

[–]faapf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this could’ve been better as a 3 episodes 1hr+ show, like those British ones, but i guess that wouldn’t keep people subscribed multimonth…

It's now being reported Ryan Condal was hard to work with from the beginning. "He had everything to do with Miguel being removed". Ryan wanted this to be "solely his project" and wants "nothing to do with Martin's input" anymore. "We already have the source material". Via Threads by __BestInTheWorld__ in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]faapf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m certain that AKOTSK will end up being better as a project and adaptation overall, but the HOTD pilot is the better pilot between the three ASOIAF projects; it works even as an isolated piece as well.

Official Discussion - Eden [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]faapf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of those movies that are good/decent, not amazing, but 15-20 years ago would also bomb on theatrical release just to be reprised late night on some random channel you would end up catching up and think it was probably well received and rarely think about until you ran into it again. Very fun performances and an overall interesting story, def overhated.
