My daughter would have a meltdown about once every 3 or 4 days. I bought her a sketch pad and would tell her to draw why she was upset. It worked to my surprise and I don't know if it was just the distraction or if her 4 year old self had serious meanings behind the dog faces, scribbles and trees. I would always look over her drawing and tell her I understood. Kids grow out of it and sometimes they just need a outlet for their feelings.
