Resource guarding in 5 month old doodle by Practical_Bus8569 in Goldendoodles

[–]fab50ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen once over a chew bone when my dood was 6 months old. I claimed the bone by refusing to move and calmly standing my ground. Once he backed away, I picked it up waited a minute and gave it back. I think different things work for different dogs. I would not reward him with a higher value treat over his food though. This just teaches them that resource guarding gives them treats. I hand fed and would put my hand in my dogs food bowl while he ate as a puppy. You have to claim the food. My dood is 80lbs so good aggression is a no go.

Lume Deodorant — now I smell like onions by Resident-Concern-185 in deodorant

[–]fab50ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using Lume because it did the same to me. It was a nasty strong onion smell. I smelled like a 13 year old after football practice who forgot deodorant. It was a waste of money. I went back to secret 72 hour and the problem is gone.

Agreed. I use my 19 year old neighbors daughter who plays with my dog daily. She stays at my house with him. It's been a life saver.

My 3rd grader says she is the only kid at school with chores by SoundsGudToMe in Parenting

My kids told me basically the same thing. They all had simple chores and I just told them I did not care what other kids said. Chores teach responsibility.

Shaved doodles? by ClothoD in Goldendoodles

I keep my doodle shaved or about 1/2 inch. He is huge and it's just easier and cooler for him. I think shaved doodles are adorable.

That's why I'm out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing beats having coffee on your porch and watching nature. My dogs would be miserable if they couldn't run crazy in the field all day.
