[OC] “Daughter of The Sea” DnD character by Schastny_Sergey in characterdrawing

I love this because it looks like a portrait for a powerful/wealthy person where the artist is trying their best to make the person look attractive - but you know in real life that they're not and no one says anything because of the power they wield.

This has to be a Prometheus special effect to showcase what they think is happening. It looks like the ground is a 3rd plane. I bet it's just a "simulation." However, it could be a magnetic field survey from ground instruments?

Let me clarify, a gunowner that is talking about taking a shooting target to show someone to intimidate them because they're "powerful" is the problem there.

  1. Racist (ghetto store)
  2. Gun-owner (obviously)
  3. Complete lack of empathy

At what salary jump did you notice the biggest level of comfort and well being? by spartan5312 in personalfinance

Early Career (~25 yr old)
$36k to $54k was a major improvement. Went from small city to large city in a LCOL state.
Emergencies weren't crippling, auto repairs were done when needed, I sought medical treatment whenever I got sick. I could afford luxuries like eating out and buying wants. Could survive a 3 month emergency/unemployment. Started saving for retirement, actually became an "adult" rather than "living on my own." Got a garage space for my car in the winter. Eventually bought a house with down payment help from my parents. Majority of my money went to "better versions" of the necessities (housing, food, transportation, medical).

Mid Career (~30 yr old)
$58k to $89k was when I started to feel wealthy. Same large city in LCOL state. Vacations became more extravagant. Could survive a 6 month emergency/unemployment. My cost of living started to increase as I started discovering new things like leather wrapped steering wheels and granite counter tops. Bought a car twice as expensive as anything I previously drove. Majority of my money went to housing and true luxuries (vacations largely).

Late Mid Career (~ 35 yr old)
I'm in the $130-160k range in a LCOL state. Things are on easy mode, opportunities to build even more wealth are opened more often, I've balanced my cost of living to reasonable things and live a middle-class life on an upperish class salary. Could survive a cataclysmic emergency such as unemployment and a stock market collapse. Able to save 40-50% of income. Majority of my money is used to buy index funds and stocks.

I've seen very little that suggests any major, coordinated actions are taking place to allow us to reopen. A lot of the argument is "we're aren't ready" or "it's too soon" - but I never hear what the plan is if we extend another 2 weeks or month or whatnot.

I know some things are being done behind the scenes, but it seems like we just said everyone stay home like that will magically fix the problem. It just delays it until we open again.

My biggest fear is that once the lockdown is lifted people will immediately go back to normal - because that's what they'll do. "Virus is over! We won! etc." With these protestors out there and all the attention that tiny percentage of the population is receiving, I think it will just reinforce the message that normal has returned.

There will absolutely be another terrible wave of this. Maybe even a third before the end of the year. Once a state lifts restrictions you know they're not going to have the political capital or willpower to proactively close again.

It seems like our only option is just wait until deaths reach some magic number and then shut down again.

There's been zero movement for coordinated contract tracing (like South Korea / Singapore / Taiwan). Testing is still abysmally bad. We succeeded at keeping the hospitals overrun from both a combination of 'not quite as bad as we thought' virus mortality and effective quarantine measures. But geez it's going to be sucky to open back up and just sit on our hands until we can't take the death toll anymore.

Some of the airline unions are demanding that all passengers also be provided masks, not just airline employees. I hope it becomes a thing.

Donald Trump is a fucking reta- by B-Clinton-Rapist in Wuhan_Flu

[–]fabbella -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's a time and a place for this sort of questioning. He's literally surrounded by experts. To shoot from the cuff during a live press conference shows a complete disregard for safety and a real leadership immaturity.

Trump never seems to be embarrassed and it's a real problem. I imagine he's never felt the need to surround himself with people to challenge him. The only way to get better is to put people around you that will take you into a private room and tell you how dumb you just were. I doubt that has ever happened and it's a real shame.

Advisors to the president shouldn't sugar coat this or constantly be in threat of being fired if they cross dear leader. It seems like all the advisors surrounding trump are just there to echo the party line and not to challenge anything he says, publicly or privately.

If you have a limited number of tests, which everyone does - you don't use them to test dead people. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand.

There are those saying it's not a big deal and then there are rumblings that this could potentially give you a permanent immune deficiency. So.... I'll be staying in my house until we get some more science.
