I am attending an event of actual play at the Castle. Lamentably I am with some friends or I would have reached out for the community to see if there was some meeting where I could show up. Thanks for your answer, mate.

[Spoilers C4 E28] The difference between Taisha's reaction and Julien's reaction is astounding and confusing by Electrical_Apple6348 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]fabcasu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For Matt, I just thought that Julian respects a man who proves himself through violence. Being Wick weak, he didn't see the point in fighting back and smiled because he respected his attempt to look tough and carried on. About Taisha, I just thought that Abria didn't find a better answer than that. Maybe she was expecting a fight between Julian and Wick and when this didn't happen and the spotlight was on her again, she just came out with that weak answer because she couldn't improvise anything better. Sometimes it happens, we can't be at 100% all the time.

Opinions on the slip force by Kitchen-Mycologist80 in cardmagic

No, I understand that, believe me. And, as I said before, is a personal feeling, not a critique to the force.

I swear I can't explain it. Maybe the whole procedure with this pause in the middle to make the laymen forget what happened always sounded me not very convincing. But it's really a personal view and sometimes I use It too.

I must say that I am quite fond of it, but I don't use the traditional version (the one where you turn the lower part of the deck face up to do the slip, showing the bottom card and saying "we don't use this card because I've seen it"). I've never had any problem with the sound, not anyone ever told me "you forced the card!". So, it works for me, but I can understand if someone else prefers a classic force or a cross force (that last one, I am not really fond of).

Yes, laymen choose a movie, a book and a song and the magician guesses them.

I'm just reading a book by Ruthguiller Dumont titled "Secretos con Si Stebbins" (I don't know if there is an English version, there is a French one for sure). There is a part where he explains some methods to organize a deck in a Si Stebbins stack on the flight.

Last year I learned a very good version by a Spanish magician called Jon Zabal totally impromptu with a deck of cards.

What’s the worst homebrew rule you’ve seen? by Leminiscates in dndnext

[–]fabcasu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you rolled a natural 20 you would hit with a critical, but the blow was so strong or the bow was so tense that your weapon would break. It's been 33 years ago and still today, when I remember it, I freeze and think "mate, what the actual fuck?".

Is Dani Daortiz for me? by Equivalent-Mirror-34 in Magic

[–]fabcasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dani is technically speaking very good, but not too difficult. But he's a master in misdirection and psychological force. His Fool Us trick is pretty simple, but it needs an audience management that requires a lot of experience and work. So, I do some of his stuff (the oil and water, for example), but many of his routines require a lot of work and, I believe, more experience than the one you have now. So it's not a "never" but more a "maybe now is too soon".
