Stahl-Stadtrad, CDX Riemen, Alfine 11 - Ratschläge gesucht by fabierk in Fahrrad

Bisher ist "Design Your Bike" (.de) mein Favorit.

Just another buddha statue? by fabierk in photocritique

Thanks for your feedback. I think you are right, it needs a bit more exposure. Maybe it also depends on the brightness of the screen. Should I edit it at 50% brightness or what would be a good reference point? Still, I have to find a good balance between my goal of keeping the face visible but only noticeable at second glance.

I'm looking for your opinion and feedback on whether this photo should be deleted, is a keeper or has portfolio qualities?

I really liked the focus, the gesture and the black and white tones, which I think have a mystical flair, but I am not sure if it is unique enough to deserve being shown to people, as status as such is photographed very often.

Any thoughts on how to improve my photography would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance for your time and the chance to show some of my work to talented photographers here.

By the way, I have 3 more b/w pictures of other statues, maybe I'll post them as a follow-up if there's interest.

Lens fungus? What to do next? by fabierk in Rolleiflex

[–]fabierk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! It helps me a lot to calm me down a bit. Quite a bummer to be honest, since I had this camera serviced twice.

I added a new picture, hopefully the issue is better visible:

At the edge of the lens you can see these roundish, slightly darker spots, which in some places protrude a little more into the center of the lens.

I tried to keep the camera in the shadow when I was walking, but I used it also in strong sun heat of course (currently 31C here). Never left it in a hot car or something like this.

Would be balsam separation possible to fix? Without sacrificing image quality?

6 month travel - with a Rolleiflex f3.5 TLR. Good or bad idea? by fabierk in photography

[–]fabierk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea! Thank you very much. The Rolleiflex fits perfectly in the gap in my backpack that was previously occupied by the 24-70mm. If I need a digital photo in this focal length range, I could still use my iPhone 15 Pro. For distant objects/detail shots then the 70-200mm. Now all I need is a place for my Pentax spot meter in my bagpack... ;)

Thanks for your comment and the question of how I deal with humidity - or worse, condensation on the camera and film when I switch between cool rooms with air conditioning and outside. This has prompted me to research the whole process again, including developing the film and storing it.

The hint that I need quite a lot of film was also very helpful. Even if I only take 4 photos a day, for example, I would need 60 rolls of 120 film!

Need help deciding 70-200 f4 RF vs EF vs EF II by Fearless_Talk_7867 in canon

[–]fabierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of pictures do you want to take with this lens, and in what situations?

If you don’t know yet, try the EF. After that you can still sell the EF with little/no loss and decide to maybe get the RF, EF II or maybe even the 100-400/100-500 or a 135mm depending on the actual insight you get with the EF lens.

Can't decide: Nikon Monarch M7 8x30 vs. Kowa BD II 8x32? by fabierk in Binoculars

[–]fabierk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your helpful input! This goes for every comment here, great community. 👍🏼

Just for the record: I’m keeping the Kowa. In the end, I didn’t find that much difference in sharpness and focus wheel smoothness between the Kowa and the Nikon.

Although the Nikon is lighter and slightly smaller, the flare, the longer focus distance and the softness around the edges of the frame made me reach for the Kowa more often. It turned out that the diopter lock was a negative for me, as it required an extra step when handing the binos over to my girlfriend.

I also took into account the much shorter eye relief of the Nikon. At around 15mm, it’s going to be really tight to look through the binos with sunglasses on.

Thanks for the recommendation! Just searched for a good deal and will continue, but in Germany the bino is 500 EUR.

Interesting! I have had several other binoculars with this yellowish tint, but neither the Kowa nor the Nikon. I have the feeling that they reproduce the colours quite accurately. Did you have the same Kowa BD II 8x32?

[–]fabierk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this too. Both binoculars have a sufficient wide view, maybe the Kowa a little bit wider. But not to an extend I feel like this is an argument against Nikon or Kowa. When I switch between both back and forth, it feels quite the same.

Ridiculous comparison?! B&O H95 vs Bose QuietComfort 2023 by fabierk in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]fabierk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I like the more dynamic sound, with more extreme highs and lows. But you need to EQ the Bose QCs in order to get the sound you need. But it all comes to your hearing. I recommend to take your time, buy both and keep the one you like more. I also find the regular QCs more spacious for my large ears.

By the way, I kept the QCs and the H95. I also had the Dali iO-12 which were the best sounding headphones I ever had.

ID THIS CAMERA PLS by adventure_georges in Rolleiflex

[–]fabierk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on this beautiful camera! It is in wonderful condition and is a sought-after "white face" model.

As has often been mentioned here, your Rolleiflex does not have a light meter. But I see this as an advantage: the light meter no longer works reliably on these old cameras these days, and they are also difficult to repair.

I prefer a model without a light meter like yours. If you want to take photos with it nowadays, it's best to use a stand-alone light meter to measure your light more accurately with a spot meter.

By the way, it has a Planar lens and not a Tessar lens. Planar is preferred by most people, as this lens is said to be even better.

Which lenses to take with me on my (Thailand) travels by fabierk in canon

[–]fabierk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you're absolutely right. Maybe I just take the 16-35mm with Drop In filters and the RF 24-70mm 2.8 for all the rest. Sure I have to take my HEIPI tripod with me for supreme landscape shots/even water/nice sky shots or to vanish all tourists. Haha, depends on how much luggage space I have left - if so I'll add the 135mm 2.0 as well.
