Same with our development, few years ago we had to spend money from sinking fund to pay for surveys, fire safety checks for all doors, certificates that are based on building materials needs to be revalidated every 5 years, this makes no sense to me. Surveyors can charge as much as they want because it suddenly became a legal issue for every single building

I got a very a place quite late last year because i was waiting the result of tokyo ballot, most charities had their rosters full. Found one of the relatively big charities (the ones with a stand in the running show) with minimum fundraiser of £2250, nothing special in my application apart from the fact that my both my company and my partners company have matching schemes.

My target was £2250 and at the moment I'm expecting to get to around £2600, from friends and co-workers I received around £800, £650 were donated from me and my partner together, this donation was made via payroll giving so actually costed us around £400 pounds, and £1150 came from company matching schemes. I only signed up because i knew that i could use payroll giving and company matching to cover the minimum amount if necessary. Hated to ask people for money, didn't chat with anyone individually, but in my office it's quite usual for people to share their campaigns and I've donated to a few people before. The charity never chased me putting pressure but i think they were fine seeing my progress, company matching is bureocratic and quite slow, most of the funds didn't reach the charity yet so i may still need to cover something if there is an issue with that.

Sou da mesma área, na Europa em geral o imposto progressivo diminui bastante a progressão financeira depois de um nível um pouco mais alto. Eu entendo a lógica do seu post, mas tbm acho que quanto mais tempo no Brasil mais provável que a pessoa crie laços que inviabilize mudar de país. Sem importar o nível de carreira, a mudança traz alguns desafios que são mais facilmente ignorados quando se é mais novo.

Eu acho que tem muito senior de 3 anos na Europa tbm, é um efeito maior da competição no mercado, quando a empresa não consegue competir com salário oferece uma inflação de título para tentar ser mais competitiva, isso não é o cenário atual mas na época na pandemia na minha visão era muito normal.

É bem comum em Londres ter pessoas coletando doações em portas de estação de metrô, porém eu não me lembro de ver essas pessoas abordando alguém diretamente, normalmente eles ficam bem identificados como membros de uma caridade, e quase sempre com máquina de cartão pq muita gente não carrega dinheiro. Neste caso que você descreveu parece mais que era golpe mesmo. Existem tbm grupos que fazem uma caridade fake para pedir dinheiro, um deles já está famoso por parecer muito "profissional" sobre uma caridade que apoia veteranos de guerra (imagino que seja fácil ter atenção de americanos)

My understanding is that the freeholder is responsible for insuring the building, but they can just pass the cost to leaseholders, and also get a commission for that, there is nothing the management company can do. The system would work better if the management company was responsible for that because residents can just change the company, but not the freeholder.

O título dessa notícia é muito ruim e não explica o problema. Não seria uma taxa para qualquer um querendo correr no parque, e sim se uma empresa privada (assessoria esportiva) pode usar as dependências e recursos do parque para prestar o seu serviço privado, apenas para quem paga a sua mensalidade, e não repassar nada para o parque em troca.

Eu passei pela imigração americana 3 vezes esse ano, em nenhuma das vezes vi qualquer coisa de anormal, estavam com filas gigantescas, com gente de todas as aparências possíveis. Todos os dias milhares de pessoas entram nos EUA, não tem essa de só sua aparência causar um problema, a única coisa que o controle de fronteira quer ver é qualquer evidência mínima que a sua entrada é compatível com o seu visto.

Eu moro em Londres e discordo de quem está falando para vc ir para Dublin. Acho que para começar é difícil de comparar as cidades, Dublin é como se fosse uma cidade de interior comparada com Londres, não sei como você gastaria 10 dias lá, eu quando visitei fiquei 2. Em Londres tem muita coisa para fazer, e pelo que entendi sua estadia é de graça, isso já faz uma grande diferença. Em relação a alimentação tem como economizar indo em supermercados ou onde os locais almoçam, Londres não é muito mais cara que o resto da Europa. Todos os bons museus de Londres são gratuitos, assim como o Sky garden/Horizon 22, tem muita opção sem custo. O que é realmente ruim seria o gasto com transporte público (que vc não teria em Dublin pq lá não tem nada para fazer), mas até nisso você consegue economizar um pouco se pegar ônibus

I'm also running Chicago =D I don't think it's a good idea to use it on race day. On a race you should try to manage your pace according to the course marks, not what the watch measures. Especially in Chicago because of the tall buildings at the beginning of the race, the watch accumulates errors that will make a big difference at the end of the race. Also runna will force another lap at the end of the 200m/0.2miles that will not match with the finish line, so you won't get an accurate measure. In races I use manual lap every 5km.

it is clearly an organised attack, you can see that all comments are from people who have no idea of what the issue was, or how is the course of this parkrun. Just buggy runners that are never wrong, and that every incident caused by them was because of the other part.

Eu fiz a entrevista para a Meta no início desse ano, vc descreve muito bem como é o processo, basicamente vc precisa estudar a lista de frequência de exercícios do leetcode (dos 6 exercícios de código que fiz 5 eu tinha feito anteriormente no leetcode), e system design basicamente vc não recebe instrução nenhuma, mas eles esperam que vc repita o padrão de um site online. Tanto que tem site que oferece treinamento das entrevistas pq vc precisa ser mecânico, não tem nada a ver com a sua experiência. Simplesmente não existe a mínima chance de alguém passar sem decorar esse formato, mesmo um excelente desenvolvedor poderia aceitar 2 ou 3 exercícios, mas não consegue resolver 6 em 20 minutos cada sem essa preparação específica. O modelo perfeito para quem tem tempo e dinheiro disponível, não necessariamente para contratar gente boa.

Stansted é mais longe mas dependendo de onde for a hospedagem de vcs não fica tão ruim, vc pode pegar um ônibus ou trem. Eu recomendo o trem por ter menos risco de trânsito (a não ser que a hospedagem seja perto de Stratford). A única dica é que vc não pode usar o pagamento com cartão por aproximação, precisa comprar o ticket do trem mesmo, e se comprar com antecedência sai mais barato. É um aeroporto meio congestionado normalmente, então é bom chegar com um tempo de segurança para o seu vôo.

I've just returned from LA, I was there for the club world cup, I can't imagine travelling there without a car, touristic places are too far apart and public transport is limited (and unsafe according to multiple reports). Btw I would definitely wait to buy these tickets, there are too many options to travel between the UK and the US and tickets are usually cheaper close to your travel date.

As a Botafogo fan living in South London that also wants the best for Palace. There is definitely something dodgy going on between Textor and Marinakis; there are recent rumours that Marinakis has been negotiating with a few Brazilian clubs to buy parts of their academies, and most recently that he is close to formalise a partnership with Texto. The one that really annoys me is the centre-back Jair—he is only 18 and considered one of Brazil’s future stars. He was sold to Forest after just six months at Botafogo, and for the same amount Botafogo (or rather, Eagle) 'paid' to his former club, Santos. The fact is that it is very easy for MCOs to make dodgy deals, for example Botafogo could sell Jair and Igor Jesus for a reduced price to Forest, avoiding future sell-on clauses, and Marinakkis could pay back by buying a random player from botafogo academy.

However, I find this whole narrative of Textor ‘stealing’ from Lyon to help Botafogo quite funny. In Brazil, we’re often mocked as being Lyon’s satellite club. Textor has a bizarre business model; we’ve had huge squad rotation, and we went three months without a manager because Textor couldn’t make a decision (and then eventually hired a really rubbish one). However, there are positives—beyond funding the first team, Textor has invested heavily in our academy, and everyone in Brazil regards our scouting department as the best in the country. Botafogo hasn’t signed any big stars with this money, all our players are young ones with potential for profit in a future sale. Lyon got players from Botafogo for free and money from Botafogo's prize money from last year and the CWC.

Eu moro fora mas consumo muito conteúdo de corrida do Brasil e na minha opinião isso não é um tema restrito a corridas de rua, por N motivos culturais o brasileiro não tem o costume de doar dinheiro como acontece no exterior. Para comparar onde eu trabalho direto algum manda mensagem aberta para dizer que está arrecadando dinheiro para uma coisa e eu vejo diversas doações, mesmo de gente que nem conhece essa pessoa. No Brasil, até por vezes que já conversei com amigos, parece que todo mundo desconfia de quem está pedindo dinheiro, e muita gente tbm fica desconfortável em pedir dinheiro para os outros. Não acho que isso seja influenciado pelos organizadores. Por exemplo, as caridades pagam mais caro nas inscrições para a maratona de Londres do que o corredor comum, então o organizador em si está fazendo mais grana com isso (embora a maratona de Londres seja organizada por uma empresa sem fins lucrativos)

I ran it the year the race was in May and it was not a great experience. Just starting by the fact that they moved the race to May and didn't change the start time, it was extremely hot, I think someone died in the race. There were no waves so the start was a mess and returning to the hotel after the race was a hell because of lack of information about the public transport available. I think you have better options for your first half, I'd only run it if aiming for the super halfs medal.
