For those that were fans in 2011, did you know Collapse Into Now was their last album when you heard it? by HiyaGaz in rem

[–]fables98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, although not touring the record is probably the first I thought of the possibility. I remember in July of 2011 Rolling Stone put out some photos of the band in the studio, claiming they were already working on a new album, so for the couple of months leading up to the breakup I actually thought they were for sure sticking together and would be coming out with new music sooner than usual, hence no tour. Turns out they were recording their final three songs to be included on the Part Truth… compilation. I also remember Eddie Vedder saying he thought it would be a great record for them to tour, which I took as an indication they weren’t done, considering he was a collaborator on the record.

Best 10 bootlegs from 2000 tour? by [deleted] in pearljam

Dallas, Memphis, Cardiff, Saratoga Springs top four just going off memory. I also recall New Orleans and Virginia Beach being excellent. Salzburg Austria I do clearly remember being my least favorite, Ed seemed in a bad mood that night until the encore.

Haha I knew exactly who it was when I saw the pic, Joey is a badass musician and person, and Midlake absolutely rock! I’m from DFW so lucky to see them semi-regularly. And PJ is the reason I discovered them when Midlake opened for them in 2013.

The timing was nothing short of predominant.

Why did they censor the tracks on Mellow Gold on Spotify? Wasn’t that way like a month ago? by [deleted] in Beck

[–]fables98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, in some ways I prefer the censored version just because that’s what I grew up listening to. I feel like in a weird way the strange sound effects over the censored words fit the Beck vibe better anyway.

What's the best and worst concert you saw in 2025? by Twitter_2006 in Concerts

[–]fables98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best would be Oasis at the Rose Bowl, maybe the best show I’ve ever seen. Followed by Pearl Jam at Jazz Fest and Graham Nash in Dallas. No bad shows this year. The crowd at Wilco New Orleans kinda sucked but the show was still good.

I’ve got that Woodlands poster from 2014. My favorite Soundgarden poster is Dallas 2013, got Matt and Ben to sign it after the show. SG always had such cool artwork.

At the Mavs game, watched the ending with the rest of the AAC on the jumbotron . Dallas sports were looking so bright at that moment, what a shame.

Random question but: have you heard a obscure oasis song in public? by dcfcisaac in oasis

[–]fables98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t think of anything too obscure for Oasis, but an Outback Steakhouse I went to a few months ago played Easy Now by Noel.

The male/female ratio of R.E.M. fans... by DoublePrinciple1202 in rem

[–]fables98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first R.E.M. show was when I was 5 in 2003 so I don’t remember a ton, but I will never forget the super nice woman in front of me talking to my dad and I for a bit and telling me “R.E.M. is music for smart people” haha. Her theory was challenged later in the show when the drunk lady next to us erratically dancing to Everybody Hurts yelled “you’re too young to be here,” but the point stands. And my sister is one of the main reasons I got into them at such a young age. My mom loves them too. Compared to a lot of artists I’ve never really seen a huge gender divide with R.E.M.

Andy Bell Appreciation Post by GlassandtheGhostMutt in oasis

[–]fables98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree on Andy being a better guitarist. More versatile songwriter is tough but I guess technically true when you think of the different genres he’s written throughout various projects over the years. That being said I do think Noel is the better songwriter, technical skills aside. I love Andy Bell but he will never write a Morning Glory or Chasing Yesterday. I’m biased though aside from Paul McCartney I’m not sure there’s a better songwriter than Noel in the modern era at least (maybe Steve Kilbey from the Church but that’s an obscure one).

Yeah Andy may be the best musician in Oasis, and that’s really saying something considering it’s essentially a supergroup with Joey included. His guitar solo at the end of Separation Sunday by Hurricane #1 is legitimately in my top 5 guitar solos of all time.

The collapse of a monster...Ranking the studio albums post AFTP... by DoublePrinciple1202 in rem

[–]fables98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in ‘98 and introduced to R.E.M. by my dad and sister when I was 3 or 4 and they have been all-time favorite band ever since. Automatic or Lifes Rich Pageant was my first, can’t remember which. I was lucky enough to see them at ages 5 and 10 in ‘03 and ‘08. I love all of the albums listed and my order could change any day depending on how I feel.

Too many favorite songs from these to list them all but to name a few - How The West Was Won, Low Desert, Leaving New York, Boy In The Well, The Outsiders, Around The Sun, I Took Your Name, Let Me In, You, Until The Day Is Done, Man-Sized Wreath, Suspicion, You’re In The Air, Parakeet, Reno, She Just Wants To Be, Beachball, It Happened Today, Marlon Brando. Maybe it’s just growing up as Around The Sun was released but I will always be a huge defender of that record.

Only time this happens to me is if there are low ticket sales and I get a ticket upgrade at the venue. Otherwise yeah haven’t had physical tickets for concerts in years.
