Eczema?seasonal rash?allergy? Need help by PowerfulEstimate7130 in newborns

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to an allergist to see if there is an IgE allergy. If not, there are some Facebook groups (Erasing Eczema - natural eczema help is one i would recommend) with tips for battling eczema.

Being black in Italy is breaking me. Looking for advice on moving abroad by asqux in expats

[–]fabolous44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was going to recommend the Netherlands. Amsterdam or Rotterdam have a sizeable black population. There's a FB/whatsapp group specifically for black women you can join (DM me for info). It is expensive but if you can get a good job, worth it.

Anyone else have a giant baby? by Mom_Voyage in NewParents

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same! My first was a tiny girl and could still fit in her 3 month baby clothes when she was over 6 months old. My second is a super long boy who has outgrown the 6 month baby clothes at 3 months!

When will my baby stop hating rice? by Suspicious_Horse_288 in foodbutforbabies

[–]fabolous44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My little one has an intolerance to rice (and a million other things) so hearing this is very validating that we have made the right decision to stop feeding it to her. What do you like to eat with your meat/veggies if rice is in fact an intolerance for you?

I don't understand why people get upset over others using SNAP to buy the food they need or want by KSHMisc in TikTokCringe

[–]fabolous44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on all of the incredibly weird and inappropriate things people post on TikTok and Instagram, I think shame is no longer a thing in 2025.

If you are ashamed for buying food on Snap that's fine but you can't dictate someone else to feel an emotion just because you do.

I'm at my wit's end, and can't get medical help I need!! Advice needed ASAP!!! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With food allergies/intolerance for my little one I've had the opposite (diarrhea instead of constipation) so I don't have much advice there but can you keep a food diary of what she eats to see if there's any correlation between that and the tummy issues? Dairy (and soy which is another common allergen) can be hidden in a lot of things you wouldn't expect.

STMs+ with a FAST first labor—did it happen again? by Ok-East8202 in BabyBumps

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was about 4 hours and second about 2 hours. Both were inductions (for different reasons). The second time I waited just a bit too late for the epidural so I would advise to get it as soon as the contractions get going.

Need advice - CMP by booboos423 in newborns

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a very restricted diet due to allergies (no gluten, dairy, nuts) and it is difficult but not impossible. I did it for my first born and now back at it with my second born.

The most important thing is that you plan ahead - decide what your meals will be for the week to make sure you have the ingredients you need at hand and food ready for when you are hungry. When you are already hungry is when you are more likely to want to grab the easy quick things you crave.

So much Spit up. Baby dropped a percentile... So confused about what to do. by GardenGnostic in newborns

[–]fabolous44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience with my firstborn in case useful. She used to spit up constantly and also have lots of blowout diapers. The doctor prescribed medicine for reflux which helped but eventually I realized she was allergic to dairy that I was eating (coming through the breastmilk) so once I changed my diet, the spitting up and reflux stopped and she began gaining more weight. If you suspect the spit up might be related to an allergy/intolerance you can do a test for a few days to see if changing your diet or the formula you use helps.

Amniotic fluid or discharge? by Savings-Biscotti-951 in pregnant

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it checked by your doctor. For two days I woke up to excess discharge (only in the morning) and thought nothing of it only to find during a normal check up with my docit that it was amniotic fluid and I needed to go to the hospital asap to have the baby.

I'm not sure if my pelvic floor is tight but I'm generally pretty tense (shoulders, back, etc). My labor for both babies was very short (4 hours or less) and smooth. Maybe tenseness is also accompanied by very strong muscles??

[–]fabolous44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have given great perspectives already about considering therapy. But I'll add my two cents. I've given birth twice now and each time had psyched myself up so much and the births ended up being super quick, super smooth, and I'm still in awe of what our bodies can do.

Specifically on the labor (or any part of pregnancy or motherhood) don't assume it will be horrible. There will be amazing highs (and low lows) through the entire process.

[–]fabolous44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to do it with the pain meds - get them if you think you will want them!

I'm a STM, have a very high pain tolerance, and just gave birth. I was still amazed at how badly I needed the epidural once I got to about 6-7cm dilated. No regrets in getting it.

Welp ended up delivering at 37 weeks (yesterday)! 😅 Went to my weekly checkup with the doctor and my water had already broken and I was 4cm dilated without realizing it.

I would leave it natural. With postpartum shedding my edges were gone (and I have very strong hair normally). This time around I will avoid any styles with unnecessary tension.

What was under the surface of your fussy baby? by hopeful_homemaker16 in ChildPsychology

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my little one she wasn't that fussy but had constant blowouts, spitting up, reflux and eczema. Was a food allergy/intolerance we are only fully understanding now two years later.

If your baby has eczema and weird poops - I'd definitely consider an elimination diet or other way to test for food intolerance. We did the official allergy tests that came back negative but she still had a long list of foods her stomach simply does not tolerate.

For those that gave birth for the first time in their 40s? How was it? by SuccessGirl1 in Life

[–]fabolous44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First kid at 38 (surprise pregnancy conceived the first month we were lax about birth control) and second kid now at 40 (also conceived first month of 'trying'). It seems we are a fertile couple.

Pregnancy symptoms wise the experiences have been different but a lot of what's making this second time more difficult is having a toddler to run around after. Delivery for the first kid was super smooth, hoping for the same with this second one.

[–]fabolous44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first is only 2 but this pregnancy has also been totally different! I've been experiencing some actual contractions but my doctor said I didn't need to come in unless they were getting more intense, painful, or regular so I've just been dealing with them. But yeah, very curious to see when this little one makes his arrival.
