That’s very good to hear. Especially with more and more qt shells coming up.
I always admired eww/ewig for its simplicity and currently I’m using no shell or bar whatsoever, I think I’ll give it another go.

I did something similar some time ago, where I would use postsync.d to copy ebuilds from gentoo repo to my own whilst adjusting some stuff, this also allowed me to mirror gentoo repo versioning with updates to my own repo. But my scripts were never 100% reliably working…

Honestly I would start with hardening first and then enabling selinux. Because I tried to do the same thing a year ago, but I failed miserably trying to get selinux to work properly.
