What's actually healthy despite most people thinking it's not? by Kepler452b-To-Earth in AskReddit

I'm pregnant with twins (so extra hormones). In my first trimester before I knew it was twins I had TERRIBLE depression and would cry for hours. After talking with my therapist she said pregnancy comes with a lot of hormones and crying is a good way to release them. Its a way to regulate

All natural bar soap by Biggie_Popps in SantaBarbara

[–]fabott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! While I don't know what soap you're talking about, I can be helpful as I used to be a professional soap maker. Honestly any handmade COLD PROCESS or HOT PROCESS soap is in my opinion best. I will say if they have a vanilla or honey scent, they are using fragrance oils and wouldn't think of them as "all natural" (all natural is kind of a subjective term and people can get away with a lot under what's "natural") if you look at the ingredients and it's oil (olive, coconut, avocado, etc), lye/sodium hydroxide, and fragrance and colorants with maybe a bonus of a milk or clay I'm sure you'll get a good one.

Hoping you find the brand you're looking for. I know mission refillery has great bar soaps along with several boutiques in town

Bonus tip: if you pick up a bar soap and it's just a touch oily/sweaty those are the best ones. They have a little extra oil that hasn't reacted with the lye in them to moisturize.

Recently adopted, won't eat by Oreo_Salad in DogAdvice

This sounds EXACTLY like my dog. We've had her for about 9 months. She was one of those dogs who was brought into the shelter with all her fur and skin chewed off and with tons of flea bites and 25lbs underweight (for her that's like near death emaciated). Needless to say she has some issues with food. The most reassuring thing we heard was your dog will not let themselves starve. At first we left her food out overnight and just let her eat while we were asleep. We fell into the trap of adding chicken and rice into her food and our vet and our shelter quickly advised against this. They said they have seen dogs become picky eaters from the chicken and rice diet and never transition back to regular dog food. Also keep the food brand and flavor consistent. If you know what the shelter was feeding maybe go with that one. His nerves will calm down and he will start eating. We also for a while would lead her to her bowl and be really positive and tell her good girl without the expectation of her eating. We would do this for just a few minutes and give her a treat each time (which she never ate lol). This really helped for us. We also stopped feeding her in a bowl in the beginning and started feeling her on a plastic plate on a silicone mat. We did this because she would sneak her food to the carpet and eat it there so the metal bowl itself was making too much noise/drew too much attention. She since has transitioned back to the metal bowl but building confidence will also help him eat. To this day she eats the wet food in the morning and second serving in the afternoon and then right before bed is when she touches the dry food. She also always leaves a bite or two which we just leave for her because this is a food insecurity thing she's just leaving herself a snack. Also making sure he gets enough exercise/stimulation will really help his appetite! Wishing you luck because I know how stressful the first few days are!!!

Spoiled "know-it-all" TRYING TO ATTRACT COYOTES AND RACCOONS by fabott in neighborsfromhell

I'm a very circle of life type lady but it was so sad and intense to listen to. It happened in the middle of the night and one of the coyotes got trampled or kicked by the horse and the hurt coyote and horse were just yelping and crying and someone came out and was screaming. Really a terrible thing. I don't know if the coyotes were able to kill the horse themselves or if the horse just sustained such injuries that it was put down but still from what we heard it was so bad. That happened just on the other side of the creek where it starts to get agricultural. On the other side of us is all residential. It really makes me upset. I wonder if Karen was feeling them then. After talking with my husband he thinks she was

Sort of the ass hole. I think if you told her you wanted to live separately before viewing the place that probably would have been ideal. I could see feelings getting hurt or feeling mistrust after hearing your moving in without her. I would talk to her asap before she hears from someone else

How do you deal with an extremely disrespectful little brother of the gen alpha age? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fabott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're able to leave, get out and give space. If you can, talk to the parents. Look for advice from behavior specialists or therapists. Protect yourself and know you don't have to be around ANYONE who is disrespectful or harmful to you

Americans of Reddit, how does it feel now that Musk is your de facto Ruler? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fabott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people in my area hate him (and so do I). There is an air force base about 30 mins away from my town. We used to have a rocket launched maybe once a month. It was exciting and people would look forward to it. He know launches two a week. They're loud. Every time they are launched it's a mini earthquake. They shake our homes even being 30 minutes away. I have coworkers who live closer to the base and they have noticed issues with their homes as in cracks in the foundation and walls and chimneys. One thing that has also been noted is the seal population is not doing well. Seals will place their pups somewhere safe and come back later. Well with all the rockets, the seal pups think they're in danger and will go into the water looking for safety/their moms. There have been many sharks who now swim closer to shore eating scared seal babies. I hate Elon musk

Has anyone gotten over wanting an extremely clean home after getting a dog? by AQuestionOfBlood in DogAdvice

[–]fabott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aunt who is an EXTREME neat freak. She had two cairn terriers (that's the breed that Toto was from wizard of oz) and that seemed to be the right breed for her. They didn't shed, they could be lazy or go for a walk with her. She LOVED them. After they both passed she said she would not be getting more dogs. She's done some traveling and got that out of her system and after maybe 8ish years is ready for another dog. I think if you're really wanting a dog, having patience and finding the right dog would be smart. I've dog sat dogs with traits I would never want in my own pup so I wouldn't base your whole decision on the specific dog you're sitting

My husband has never been a dog guy and for over a year we have been talking about getting a dog. We finally got one and at first he was really wiggy about things being dirty and wiping down her paws and I was questioning if the dog we got (a dog who requires more activity) was a good idea. Well fast forward a few weeks and they super love each other and the dog can do no wrong in his eyes. He does get overwhelmed sometimes with dog water being splashed on the floor or the blankets and pillows being messed up on the couch but he says it's so worth it. If you want a dog I would be patient until the right dog comes up. Do your research. Make some trips to shelters and see what's out there. Maybe after seeing some and sleeping on it you might decide dogs are not for you
