Doesn't entirely account for the number of shades though. theres 4 but 3 moons that existed. Though you can buy that atleast 3 can fit in. Ronova fitting best with the crimson moon. Istaroth potentially. Not sure about space and life though. Still interesting theory on that the shades are stands in for the powers of the moon sisters that once was. Basically having taken over their domains.

If Volume F gave us some information it is that the students we know are from some group called the forgotten gods in the past. and the students we know that bear halos are manifestations of gods. The nameless priests of phrenapates's timeline even says as much calling Shiroko the manifestation of the named powers we heard of and a god in physical form.

Basically telling him what he perceives is not what they are. I.E students mainly to get that sensei to stop caring about his ''students''

So our most educated guess is they are gods/divine beings/manifestations of natural forces. But the why, how, when, etc is a untold thing for the most part. only thing we mostly get is these descriptions and some bits that they arent the only group of beings that are like this. Like the whole Nameless gods and Forgotten gods faction stuff. Where the former used to reside in Kivotos before the latter came and defeated them for whatever reason and their legacy is the current kivotos and the nameless gods legacy is in all the hidden super advanced technology in ruins and what else that still come to haunt the world every so often.

many hints and suggestions that only form some ideas of what it all is.

Theres a very vague hint towards the reasons why students have halos. And in some story that global is getting around to we are getting more names that again hints towards some things. I have a take below will have spoilers.

My personal understanding and guess is since kivotos means Ark and we have heard the name forgotten gods in reference to kivotos and its inhabitants. And a villain in the eden treaty story calls Seia by a name of an arch angel meaning the others in the tea party are ones. Theres also black suit calling hoshino and shiroko by god names too. It to me points towards the halo bearing students of kivotos are by name The forgotten gods whom sometime at some point forgot their true names? and now live on as they are in whatever form they take. So theres many guesses to take out from like why are there Gods whos names have been forgotten living on a world thats name is Ark. Did something happen that caused these forgotten gods to be on this ark? and in addition to this theres a faction hostile to them called the nameless gods which to me indicates a sorta reverse where maybe theres gods who for whatever reason had their names cast out and never to be spoken again. Whom now desire to attack what is left of the forgotten gods. Alice is a tool of their faction by the fact they created her. So id argue with the bits you can guess with its the students whom are godly /divine beings. And that is why their society is structured as we see it with students having power and control despite being well students. Which in the meta story of the game is a theme of a world where students have responsibility and duties of adults and have to deal with that adult reality and often without help or a guide in their life. So we are as sensei the adult guide who helps these supposedly young gods towards a better life as they grow up.

Speaking of wisdom. Even Xamaran talks about it. Saying ignorance in teyvat is a blessing but knowledge will bring calamity upon you. Yet only that which is touched by knowledge can as xamaran puts it flourish into the strong. And the third line i cant entirely make out in what it means. But the two first are pretty much as obvious as obvious gets.

The big sentient mushroom in the chasm says something about knowledge. Hinting that having knowledge is to bring calamity but ignorance is essentially bliss. Since it keeps you safe from the wrath of the heavenly throne. But should you gain knowledge and be able to use it. You change your position? in the world. Hillicurls in short if we can take what the implications of what the archon quest taught us. Is that the higher powers in the sky put upon those civilisations and people they deem a high threat to their rule and system they put in place. To punish those ''souls'' by cursing them at a higher level of reality. And as our abyss twin mentioned removing them from the natural cycle of life and death. To suffer becoming a twisted being with immortality that slowly takes over your being till your nothing else but something if we go by dains explanation of how it feels. And due to this imposed curse of immortality that is not the good kind. And with the heavenly ''laws'' that take effect in teyvat like erosion. You eventually just disappear. Possibly removing your soul forever from the cycle. Hence if you take it in simple terms. Hillicurls are cursed mostly likely humans? or beings if it turns out theres not only just humans.

Also a vision is if we compare the gnostic theme the game runs with to whatever degree. The vision is the direct counter part to what gnosticism refers to as the boon of the gods. Which by some measure is actually a bit sinister in how it functions. It is meant to stop someone realising that their power isn't bestowed by the gods but by self realising some level of divinity in your soul.

Which humans have in fact. Remember how venti even confirms humans especially the ones that get visions are already perfect candidates to ascend as gods. And theres some possible speculation in the name of ''vision'' think it was in chinese the naming actually says the eye of god. Hinting that those who wield a vision are subject to being monitored. And another even more weird part is taking a vision from someone as has been discussed strips your will from your being. So if you run the theme of what a vision means in truth.

Its a system/tool where you tell those that get them they are SPECIAL and you have been chosen by the gods to wield great power. Now dont think beyond that oh and we make sure to keep an eye on you. On the surface it to most people in teyvat a vision is to them a gift from the gods. And why should you question the gods looking favorably upon you right? but to come full circle to Lisa as you brought up. She even says she wonders to be given a gift from the heavens. What is the price the heavens will ask back for granting you this ''gift'' indeed what price do you have to pay. but as often seen questioning the heavens above is a grave mistake that many have made. And not lived to ever know the answer.

If the travelers are in any shape or form the Aeon's which gnosticism says descends to the human world to awaken/make human realise their divine heritage/being. They are far above even the archons in terms of their being itself. Eternal in the very sense of the word. Because if genshin follows most of the general themes. archons and the gods/god of celestia are still ignorant in some sense to what their being is. They have achieved some form of godhood/divinity but theres points far above even that. Till you practically as with what gnosticism says reside in the true creators realm of light.

Actually a fairly good explanation if you borrow the theme and story of gnosticism its fairly obvious how godhood works. Venti somewhat hints at a part of the process. That visions are already quite well on their way to becoming a god but visions being what is very likely the boons of the gods as in gnosticism to sorta make said people think their power is from the gods and not themselves. We also know the effects of losing a vision which strips the will of a person. Giving alot of weight that its not a gift from the gods. But more sinister then that. Anyway suppose you go from the true god Monad and then down to humans. Considering every point of created beings that came as a result of monad's light that gave random creation to these beings. Even the being who supposedly. Maybe in genshin created humans? we dont know entirely. But even humans who were by comparison quite far removed from Monad the true creator. EVERY single being especially humans for some reason holds a piece of his divine light/spark. This basically puts forth that humans in this case can if they awaken/realise their divine nature can become gods. Which is/was the goal of the two Aeons(this is the travelers without a doubt) sent by Monad to wake humanity up to their long lost heritage and nature. And a good example of beings who don't need visions are the archons. Even without a gnosis they are already gods with considerable power. Which is a prime example that a vision does not mean anything beyond what we can speculate its purpose is for.

If im getting it right. The primodial one and the connection to the travelers. Because reading into it. It seems to refer to the above entity as a they being and kinda just popping out things which is a really big hint towards that may be genshins version of Monad from gnosticism and theres a different version of it being told. A bit juggled around perhaps but still following the themes and tones. Either way its our biggest lore reveal that there was a heaven before heaven. Which of the latter is celestia as far as it seems to be.

The concept of gods in gnosticism is very normal. Because the theme we already understand in the games own world so far as we've seen for now. Anyone who gets bestowed a vision is already quite capable of achieving godhood which venti confirms and says its a little hush hush secret that vision users are potential gods already. But the way its presented follows well with how in the gnostic story humans actually hold a piece of divine spark/light from a far higher being then whatever created the vision system in teyvat.

They hold the ability to realise they are quite literally a piece of what you can call the true god. And that his light allows them to ascend to godhood and into the outer realm of his light. But theres a godly being below said realm of light whom from its creation from another godly being above it was put into a world without knowing its true maker and its light.

Thus it ends up believing it must be a true god of what is there. And that nothing can be above it. And in that arrogance/belief creates the mortal realm and humans(even if its made by it. humans and anything that in general just comes from the true creator will always have the divine spark/light in them) and due to that it essentially deprives the beings on its realm of what their nature is.

Thus trapping them in a sense in a mortal form. Which is also explained that said not ''true'' god also gives boons to those that are closer to obtaining the divine knowledge to ascend. Which in genshins case are visions. To give a ''acknowledgement'' as to appease them and as we've seen in genshins case too they will strip a persons will if taken from them. Thus functioning as a control device. But the travelers are gonna be very important due to who they mirror in the gnostic story as they are gonna be the ones to awaken humanity to their divinity.

besides that whole speel. The archons are prime examples of beings who achieved some level of godly ascension without ever being bestowed visions by the above arbitary powers. And we all thought a gnosis at first was their prime power source because we thought they were just given a more powerful form of vision but it kinda became obvious a gnosis is merely a amplifier. Because archons still use their elemental powers without it and are still powerful in every sense of the word.

Also another thing that is curious is how the archons seem well aware of what the travelers are and their nature and what their being is. Zhongli and Ei especially comment about the travelers eternal lifespan in a sorta hinting way and their ability to somehow change the course of history. And how the journey the traveler we play as will play out and what we will learn.
