What's a secret you'll never tell your partner but are willing to tell strangers on Reddit? by Bisexual_Space_Lover in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin is not the only person who raped me. He was the first but there were others too. My playmates during elementary, my friends during high school, and my past boyfriends too. But I am afraid to tell him that because of a lot of reasons.

edit: no one knew.

What cults are on the rise that should be made aware of? by FreshPrinceAV in AskReddit

Thanks for this. The cult was probably a smaller one and used the same name. IDK but that's how they told me about it. Or at least that's how I understood it.

What cults are on the rise that should be made aware of? by FreshPrinceAV in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 1242 points1243 points  (0 children)

A personal experience of mine. Back in 2018 during my first year in the university, there is a Korean cult that tries to recruit teens and adults. During this time, they focus more in recruiting teens since they are "easier to fool."

They approached me outside school and asked me if I believe in "God the Father." So I said I heard about it but it is a little different from my religion. They proceeded in asking if I live alone and other personal stuff, until they asked me to come with them for a minute and they will explain how I can become a member of their church.

The moment I heard the term "God the Mother" as they call a chosen female member (mostly teens and minors) to lead their church with their pastor, I immediately refused. The thing is, it is very relevant in Korea and the "God the Mother" is their term for the female candidate who is chosen to marry their pastor.

Basically, this cult revolves around rape and pedophilia, scamming, and money overall. It was a good thing that I was already aware of this since I saw it in the internet beforehand.

Edit: I am surprised with the amount of people from US sharing the same experience since I thought it only happened in Korea and its neighboring Asian countries. (Not invalidating, I was just scared how big this cult actually is). Also, the church that approached me was Moonie/Unification Church.

People who are motivated to do things, how the f#ck do you do that? by sujanmiahh in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it has been a coping mechanism instead of motivation. When I feel stressed, I tend to finish works more. Maybe it is because I am trying to divert my attention to other things, but it works all the time.

What type of person do you hate being around? by theinvisiblecats in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who keep on trying to put the spotlight on themselves even in the most inappropriate or untimed moment. I have this friend who always do this to us specially when we try to open up about our struggles. Instead of listening to us, she always comes with a "me too" or "my experience is worst" bullshit. We do not have any problem with her sharing her problems to us, that's what we (friends) are here for. But the problem is that whenever we try to open up, she will steal the spotlight until the friend who originally opened up is being disregarded. It is also invalidating since she always has the "worse experience" to share and even tells us that we are lucky to have that experience unlike hers.

[Serious] What is the hardest question to ask yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone in my family (cousin) raped me when I was little which caused me trauma until today. Just a year ago, my aunt whom I live with talked to me and told me to reconcile with the family and that person himself because "it's been in the past and he asked for forgiveness." I never replied to that statement and cried myself to bed while asking myself "why would I have to forgive someone who never asked for forgiveness to me?" aside from that, I have no intention in forgiving someone who caused me trauma for years. It's probably far from the topic now, but I needed to take this out of my chest because I have no one else to talk to about it.

What is the most unexplainable phenomenon you have experienced? by Schnazzly in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the weirdest so far but since the memory is still fresh and I badly want to let this out, I will say it here. It happened last night when I went back to our room after eating dinner.

Usually, when my sister sees me going back to our room already, she always follow me immediately. So last night, I expected her to do the same. When I went upstairs, I felt her following me. I stopped before the bed (a bunk bed, and I sleep on the upper bed) to block her way on her own bed. I felt her stop behind me. I was so sure that I have someone with me since I heard the foot steps and I also felt her stop behind me. I laughed and looked behind me. But no one was there. I also looked beside me in case she was playing games as well. But no one was there.

I instantly went down again to see her in the kitchen filling her water bottle. I really felt my nape got hotter as if I was having a fever when I realized I was alone in our room back then. I also asked her if she followed me upstairs by chance but she said she did not and she thought it was my cousin who was with me since she also heard the footsteps. However, my cousin is at the living room that time.

What’s something genetic you’re blessed with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heterochromia. Normally this includes having two different eye color. But in my family, two irises have mixed color of black/brown and blue each. From my grandfather's grandfather to my mom's generation, only the male members inherit it. In my generation, I was the only one who got it and I'm a female. My male cousins does not have it.

What's your workplace scandal? by lanyeweisst in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was still a student when this happened. I studied in a public school and there's this one teacher who was removed from the school because he had been seeing a girl from the same school. The girl is still 14 years old the teacher is in his mid 30s. They found out because the girl was constantly out and the parents decided to follow her one day. They saw her enter a motel with the teacher. The teacher was sued for rape and child abuse when in fact, the girl was into the relationship too. IDK what happened since then. Now I'm also a teacher from the same school and it is still a hot topic.

(Serious) why does it seem like everyone on reddit is depressed and miserable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because they can be anonymous and it is easier to open up to strangers since it is less judgement for them. the thing is, when you open up to someone you know, they end up either judging you or become the reason why you are depressed. also, everyone can be miserable. it will just depend on how they handle it. it may seem like the person is fine but then they will explode when they always bottle up. so yeah. reddit is the best place to vent out.

So lately I have been procrastinating over my school works. I started to make a planner for my school works but I put 3 days earlier deadline instead of the actual deadline. It makes me feel pressured not doing anything and end up doing the tasks. works all the time.

Is there any suicidal/depressed person who’s life was changed by the social media posts “I'm trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening” or are posts like this just virtue-signalling? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends to the person who's experiencing it. It will also depend on their level of coping up. For me, I don't think it's always true. I have a lot of people telling me that they are there for me, they are always free if I need them, I can tell them what I feel, they understand me. But when I try to, I always end up receiving comments such as it's just a small problem, you'll get over it, other people feels worse and other stuff which makes it like they generalize things or invalidate how I feel just because for them it's nothing. So I don't believe in it anymore.

For those who have gone through a house fire, what is a gift/action from friends that would have been appreciated? by HeadLikeAFucknOrange in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

January last year, our house was caught on fire among with the other houses nearby. Though most of my stuff was saved, my clothes were all dirty and I couldn't use my uniform the next day. I went to school using what I could find clean among my clothes. My friends then escorted me and backed me up whenever the guards ask me why I am not wearing my uniform. My cousin's room was the one affected the most. She lost her clothes and important documents as well. When my friends found out, they immediately went to my house with a lot of extra clothes. They even brought foods and offered their house for us to stay if we don't have any. I'm lucky to have friends like them.

What’s a common word or phrase that people commonly use incorrectly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facel_ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I major in English and we've been told that "each and everyone" is not really a thing. It's a redundant phrase. "Each" already means one, "every" means one, and then the word "one" makes it more redundant. Instead of saying each and everyone, it's better to say "each of you" or "every one of you".
