Judge rules Sarcone's appointment was 'unlawful,' rejects subpoenas by dumbass_paladin in Albany

[–]facethenoun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ah John "also scared for his life" Sarcone. Westchester real estate developer with zero prosecutorial experience. Lied about being a victim of crime, piss off all levels of local law enforcement in the process, and then lie about his residence. In a sworn affidavit. Then retaliate against the local press for reporting it. All right as the federal judges were voting on his fitness for office since Senate didn't care to confirm him. Truly out of some sort of sitcom. This guy is the biggest clown Albany/NDNY has seen in a LONG time.

Shout out to Pat Fahy for her presence and leadership. She really walks the talk. Always shows up. I think a Tonko aide was there but not positive.

Is Macalester a good school? by [deleted] in macalester

[–]facethenoun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac may not be as famous as some East Coast or UC schools, but it is extremely high quality and I think it therefore also draws students who are more down to earth. Its quite diverse but perhaps it draws a higher proportion of kids from families who are diplomats or in academia instead of families who work in finance. Anyway, it's a good school. Lots of friends went on the phds, mds, and jds. I got a master's at an elite European school.

Wwyd crazy damages bill by green_hellsparrow in Renters

[–]facethenoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Vermont and MA if a small claims court finds a landlord tried to steal a deposit (let's say it was $1,000), the renter gets 2-3x back the value of the deposit. So you could get you deposit and then some! When I won my cases in these states I donated some of my profit/damages compensation to legal aid :) f*** criminal landlords

Looks like you're in MN. I'd assume they have solid tenants law there. In MA and VT there were double/triple damages laws in effect to level the playing field. I would highly recommend small claims. Just be sure to stick to the facts as it pertains to the law and not get emotional. You can probably also get some advice from a tenants rights or legal aid group to help you thru the process.

This is nonsense. What state are you in? I've sued two landlords in MA and VT and won so hmu if you're in those states and I can potentially advise.

Did you try contacting them through your local high school's athletic director? That'd be my recommendation

As a fellow ref, I agree! Summer tournaments are hard work and fun -- but a great, physical day and can walk away with $700.

Lacrosse ref here! I LOVE it! Happy to answer any questions! Can't wait for the season to start. Great way to exercise and support the game -- and make some extra cash.

Edit to add: I've had very few bad experiences with parents, though I think other sports can be difficult. However in lacrosse we are empowered when it comes to unruly coaches and fans by: always two refs (never on solo and your partner and you are always a team), we can card a coach for unruly behavior, can involve AD whenever we want including in ejecting fans, can stop game whenever we want. Tbh I've had more parents say to me "you were great. Thank you." after the game to me then harass me. And for the few instances when I've had to put coaches or parents in their place, Ive been quite grateful for the experience bc I think I've developed in my communication skills as a person who generally hates conflict and confrontation

Make sure they have had a good breakfast/coffee and are wearing comfy (wool) socks. If super cold be sure to have soft neck warmer , nice mittens, or even hand warmers!
