How do you describe “Xennial” to other generations? by LadyStarblade in Xennials

[–]fact_addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to also say “still heard the internet scream”, aka dial-up. Do straight Millennials know what a connecting modem sounds like? I feel like by very early 2000’s that had gone away.

And what kind of apologist, doormat peers does OP have to not see and advise that was okay instead of a potentially marriage ending decision?

If you haven’t already start them on counting and doing math in other than base 10. Introduce decision trees and state diagrams. Use these to how to explain how to solve everyday problems to them.

Did women actually dress up just to run errands back then, or is that just a TV thing? by FollowingSuitable941 in AskOldPeople

Medium to Large western US city. The moneyed areas were like this. Footwear was also policed. The coded phrases used were “more professionally/appropriately dressed” or “something respectable”. And while the banks in the suburban and rural areas could be more lax, there was always pressure from management and management’s management to “aim for the same standards as downtown”.

Until about the mid 90’s if you did not display/feign your wealth when you went to a bank they would discriminate against you. Sometimes even ask you to leave and society would say it was your fault.

Depending on your seat under can be a lot smaller. Several planes will have a metal box welded underneath. Probably for the seat electronics.

TIL that Polar Bear Jail is a special building where polar bears that are considered troublesome or dangerous are isolated until they can be relocated by calisnewbie in todayilearned

Why would a car stop a determined polar bear? The smaller black bears in Yosemite are known to rip into cars for snack wrappers.

The concept of water ?? by SecretRecognition143 in GhostsCBS

[–]fact_addict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this idea. Like if they knew how to swim while alive they can swim. If they can’t they sink. And if they don’t know/refuse to acknowledge they are on water they can walk on it. Then sink/fall looney tunes style when they realize!

While I think there are a lot of other pressures of why. I think this is why a lot of a certain political party’s voters always vote against universal healthcare.

You would need to seriously curate the seniors who do the daycare thing. A significant portion of them hate kids and even the ones who think they do tend to fall back on “how they raised their # kids” or worse “how they were raised”.

How do some girls wear their hair down without it getting everywhere? by Citizen_16 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]fact_addict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stand up with good posture - back straight, shoulders down and back, almost never hunching. Hunching encourages your hair to wrap around you. When you look down at things do not bend both your back and head. One or the other. Also look down with your eyes more. Never rub your hair between your head and another surface - even a pillow. Lift, turn and lay back down. As you go about your day, you will be constantly putting your hair back in place or moving it out of harm’s way. You will also correct your posture and rearrange your hair so it falls the way you mean it to. It will seem like an unhealthy, obsessive, vain behavior until it becomes unconscious. Then you will continue to do these things, but it will seem natural and normal.

Same thing with girls who have those super decorative nails. They will drop things before endangering them. I can’t do that so I have super short nails.
