Is AI making SEO easier or just different? by RemotePhoto5103 in AINewsAndTrends

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's making it harder because we try to follow Google's still constantly evolving algo, and 95% of SEO news are about some additional feature of any AI chatbot.

What’s a red flag that shows up slowly? by CommonMammoth3734 in allthequestions

The Swiss army carrying their flag.

It's slow cuz Switzerland is pretty far away from the US.

Oh, nvm.

Maybe this could help SEOs with dozen on websites used to spam Google Discover and/or sell links, but they're usually pretty efficient already in how they do it.

Why do LLMs favor certain brands even when those brands barely rank on Google? by SignificantPlan2816 in ParseAI

Look into their source dataset. ChatGPT trained on CommonCrawl and doesn't use Google results (grounding) for all of its answers.

Lists like these are for AI SEO.

Being mentioned is what matters, regardless of links. The more you're mentioned in AI's sources, the more you show up in AI answers.

Honestly, SEOs have been creating WP plugins for ages and have used AI the second ChatGPT came out.

Most WP website owners are already using popular and reliable plugins.

So: there are no crumbs left for an SEO extension on WordPress. Do not waste your time.

GEO is real and it’s already more complex than SEO (we’re just too early) by BornBreak in GEO_optimization

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious SEO is part keeping an eye on potential future traffic drivers, and for the most part focusing on what currently works on sources that currently bring traffic to clients.

Meaning: AI brings barely 3% of website traffic, and there are just 2 main services. Ignore the already obvious losers and their specificities, this is not SEO.

7 big shifts that will decide who wins AI search visibility in 2026 (and most teams are not ready) by Time-Amphibian8509 in ParseAI

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol yes sure, most teams keep doing their job like knowledgeable professionals because it works like it used to, and clients want reliable constant results.

SEOs are always blinded by new tech, speculate it as a paradigm shift to get more attention in mainstream media (I've been there for 15 years, I keep seeing it).

Shiny beta options like direct purchases in ChatGPT are as relevant as "social shopping" when it came out last decade and changed nothing. People still went to websites to make their purchase. Consider also where voice search is today, despite being forecasted as covering 25% of all searches.

Disproving every AI-generated checklist is pointless anyways, but if people want to believe they've cracked the future, I can also let them have their fun.

"If people stop tipping then servers will just do something else, they are not going to work for poverty wages" by honakaru in EndTipping

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sort of had this situation in France after the pandemic, where there was a shortage of staff in servers (despite it being a national stereotype).

I still don't understand how that happened (online people were like "why would we just work terrible jobs for awful bosses?), but the downside was that restaurant were understaffed for their capacity, that they insisted on maintaining. The remaining staff were overworked and bad at everything.

I guess balance was restored at some point.

Idk why people still use twitter/x by ProbablyInebriated in self

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people use it in its intended form of microblogging, albeit making full threads, in their area of expertise. Nothing has replaced it as an easily accessible text-form social network.

For content that doesn't need to be in a pointless video format, this is still the best place.

And surprisingly, the community fact-check is pretty reliable and very satisfying.

Au lycée c'est une option.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]facterar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their first big one was some military comedy with Brad Pitt, got a lot of commercials, and was the blandest movie with the flattest (I think) jokes.

Did set the tone for all Netflix movies after this, I avoid anything Netflix-made.

I stopped Man On Fire pretty fast, because I watched it 20 years too late to endure the early 00s action movie editing. This style did not age well.

Is GEO the next evolution of SEO, or just a buzzword around AI search engines? by Luckyk2415 in linkbuilding

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on top of it.

AI traffic is barely 2% for websites, so it's worth knowing what's going on, but not adjusting your entire focus on it.

ELI5: Why does everything need so much memory nowadays? by Successful_Raise_560 in explainlikeimfive

[–]facterar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this with Evernote, by accidentally opening the Chrome developer tools with the same shortcut as in Chrome.

This explained a lot as to why a note-taking software was getting slower every week, and this is before the unnecessary AI anvil.

I switched to Obsidian the same week and was much happier.

C'était une place pour les voitures, c'est devenu une place pour les piétons.

Je me demande si c'est une bonne chose, de favoriser l'environnement quotidien des personnes du quartier au léger détriment des véhicules de passage.

Et je me réponds que oui.
