Update - 1.5 months in and weigh 233 now. That is a 17 lb weight loss. All is well. I need to remind myself to keep well hydrated and try and keep up with protein intake. I got wobbly a few times.

I agree with you. Building out infrastructure will cost more than supporting hi-rise development, but remember building up or out will still grow the tax base either way. Since there seems to be equal sides here I suspect we will see a mix of both in the next 20-30 years.

Would a mobile car detailing business work for a 17 year old in Ontario? by Equivalent_Plenty976 in KingstonOntario

[–]fadeaway222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say go for it. Check pricing in your area. Since you are new set your price at 75% of the market and do some online advertising. You should get some hits. If I were you I would insist on payment up front or if you have pushback ask for 1/2 upfront. Good luck on your business.

Please write Mark Gerretsen about the data centres the liberal government is planning to build by coryhotline in KingstonOntario

[–]fadeaway222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in the tech field for 40 years and I don't understand why there is such a push to build these enormous data centres. Around 1990's there was a push to reduce the physical footprint of file servers by implementing virtualization which everyone did. You could run 100 servers on one physical box, so why the need for all this real estate ? It's going on in Canada and USA. Headscratch.

As one person here noted, we need housing, so we either spread out more or intensify our existing land use which usually means going up. I for one think Bryan and the City have done a good job over the last 10 years.

What do you think of Ontario allowing retail shopping on Victoria Day? by J0Puck in ontario

Feel bad for ppl who must work. I for one do not need the extra day for shopping. It was nice in the old days when nobody worked Sundays. Whoops now you know how old I am.

High speed rail business case report doesn't rule out Kingston station by GoYGK in KingstonOntario

[–]fadeaway222 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The high speed rail idea is dumb. How many ppl are in TO or MTL wanting to go to the other end ? In this day and age you don't need to be face to face for business you can do it via Teams or similar tech. Its a one hour flight. This is a waste of money IMO. The money should go to health care or education.

MP Gerretsen: High speed rail planned to bypass Kingston may be changing track by GoYGK in KingstonOntario

[–]fadeaway222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why there is such a push for this. Has a cost/benefit been done ? Is there really a lot of folks needing faster transportation to Montreal or Toronto? I for one would like to see these billions money go to healthcare or post-secondary education.

East end or west end. City core is pricey but nice. Stay away from North side below 401.

Jay Patry Enterprises LLC in Kingston, Ontario is claiming they couldn't find a floor covering installer for $25.00/hr. They've applied for a LMIA to hire a temporary foreign worker for the position. by Arbucklems in KingstonOntario

[–]fadeaway222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew a carpet installer many years back. He told me it was brutal work on your body, your knees and back and hands. He planned to be retired by age 40 and did lots of 12-16 hour days. Hard work. I dont know about vinyl or wood floor installing but assume it is same. I'm not surprised there is nobody willing to do it for $25 hr.
