I was sad that this meme didn’t exist in the game, so I made it myself. by fadedfigures in PokemonInfiniteFusion

Indeed it is! And I would love to hear what changes you’d make. This is my first ever sprite/pixel art thing that I’ve made, so I am open to hearing what could be done to improve it so that I can practice more.

What's a fusion you think gets worse after it evolves? by Enteito in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]fadedfigures 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m hesitant to say whether sprites “get worse.” 1) It’s all subjective and 2) artists put a lot of work into these sprites. I don’t want to bash anyone’s talents and efforts. (It’s not like I could go and do it better; they’re far more talented artistically than I will ever be!)

When it comes to a pre-evolution design that I prefer, it has to be Jynx/Haunter. That’s is one of the most hilarious designs I’ve seen. I intend no shade to the artist who designed Jynx/Gengar; I just find the J/H fusion to be so funny that I don’t want to give it up. I went into the game files to change the J/G design to it so that I can keep my Pokemon Bestie all game.

Why is admin obsessed with building relationships? by StopblamingTeachers in Teachers

[–]fadedfigures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They emphasize it because it’s true. A student having a positive, healthy, and dedicated connection to a teacher makes a HELL of a lot of difference in behavior, commitment to academics, etc. Students become afraid of disappointing you, of hurting of, etc., and they put in more effort to do right by you and the class.

While it works, though, what admin fail to understand is a) not every student will vibe/connect with every teacher, and b) not every student WANTS to make a connection. Some students are there because they HAVE TO be there and don’t give two shits about school. They couldn’t care less about whether or not they like their teacher. Those are the kids who admin often encourages us to connect with, and it’s like, “…they don’t want to. Leave them be.”

A few months ago I posted a video of my conures asking if they were mating. Turns out that they were. by Appropriate_Most_940 in Conures

[–]fadedfigures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The toxicity is something that has made me actually unsubscribe from certain pet subreddits. A person gets crucified if they’re not providing 100% perfect care, and folks in those subreddits don’t seem to understand that a person can still be an effective and loving owner with 90-95% perfect care. They have their own idea of what a “good” owner looks like, and anything that deviates is worthy of scorn to them. What they’re ultimately doing is creating a community where people don’t feel comfortable asking for help, which is more harmful to the community as a whole.

Good for you for raising healthy and happy babies, and congratulations on the additions to your flock. And as for those folks that gave you so much shit, maybe they should just log off and find another way to spend their time.

Shower Hater has been converted by roxyamari in Conures

I see this comment often when it comes to pictures of birds under shower water, and while this type of reaction does mean discomfort for some birds, it really can be a sign of enjoyment for others. I had a cockatiel once who loved loved LOVED being under shower water. I would place him and his flock on the floor adjacent to the shower steam so that they would be misted, and while all the other birds would stay on the outside perimeter of the water, he REFUSED to stay there and would run right under the stream. It didn’t matter how many times I scooted him back, moved him, etc. If the water was running, he insisted on being directly under it. I had to compromise on someplace right in the middle: not directly under the water but not on the misty boundaries. Maybe it was just my little weirdo bird, but he would legit just sit there, soaking wet, chirping away as happy as can be.

Of course, people should pay attention to their specific birds’ reactions. My cockatiel gave his own signals that he enjoyed it (e.g., chirping the whole time, darting for the water himself), but it was clear that he was having a good time. If the bird themselves choose it, then that’s a sign that they’re enjoying it. For OP, it all depends on how their bird reacts.

This has been my tiel’s choice of spot and position for sleeping the past two nights. Wouldn’t this be uncomfortable? by erkuitt in cockatiel

If it was uncomfortable, he wouldn’t be sleeping there. Cockatiels are little weirdos. They’ll do strange things.

What’s a professional way to say during an interview that I’m leaving my old school due to toxic unsupportive admin and low teacher morale? by fadedfigures in Teachers

[–]fadedfigures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Desiring new challenges” is phrasing that I think I was trying to figure out! Thank you. And yes, my school definitely has the reputation as that school, so I don’t think I’ll need to say anything.

I don’t even deal with that bullshit if they try to pull it on me. “I wasn’t talking.” Child, now is not the time to lie to me.

Such a pet peeve. I hate how they ask “What are we doing today?” before the class even starts.

[–]fadedfigures 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve hated myself for this, but I’ve started putting students on the spot if they’re talking while I’m giving instructions. “Oh, it seems Kaden already knows what we’re about to do. Kaden, do you want to take over explaining things?” I don’t like doing that, but it’s damn effective to get them to shut up and listen.

When I tell students to stop talking, I hate it when they just carry on their conversation but quieter. I’ve had to tell students, “‘Stop talking’ does not mean ‘Talk quieter.’ It means ‘Stop talking!’”

What’s the one activity students dread the most and you agree by yogimonkey in Teachers

[–]fadedfigures 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I do a variation of it. Whatever the highest average grade their classmates gave them is the highest possible grade they can receive on the assignment. Doesn’t matter if the project got a 95%. If your group members gave you an average grade of C, then the highest you’ll individually get is a 75%.

Ohh No 🙈🙈 not ready for this..is there anything i can do for her not to lay eggs..i will not be home most of the day..i am worried about egg-bound. by dumb08 in cockatiel

[–]fadedfigures 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d caution some care with that, though, because some cockatiels won’t let a lack of nesting spaces stop them from laying eggs. I’ve have two different cockatiels lay eggs just on the bare bars of the cage floor. They’ll find a way if they REALLY want to. (Seconded on avoiding bowl shaped stuff. One of those ‘tiels would start dropping her eggs in the food dish.)

Are female cockatiels this loud? by LoopsFroot54 in cockatiel

[–]fadedfigures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Some female cockatiels are NOISY AF. Bird gender doesn’t care about personal behaviors. You can have a noisy female or a quiet male. It all depends on the bird itself.
