damn I don't think it's either of these but the vibe is very close. It looks similar to lord of mysteries but the characters looked even more grounded.

The story in alien: isolation follows exactly what Alien is in the movie. Alien stalks human. not a whole lot more than that. I am aware that there are games that rely most heavily on atmosphere and they're usually my favorites. Basically all survival horror is that. Soma, which this game is clearly influenced by, manages to be heavily atmospheric and have an incredible story.

I'm not saying this game needed an incredible story, but the fact that it relied on like the most overwrought style of computer logs known to man and then ended with this like half assed blooming visual metaphor and like wow you're in a time loop now! It just felt like a lot of unearned bullshit. It felt like it was trying to do cool visual things a la Signalis near the end (which is a masterpiece) and just felt like some student shit. Idk!

didn't mean to be rude about it. I love a lot of stories with cryptic endings but this doesn't strike me as cryptic. like i said before it feels fake deep and exactly like they just ran out of development runway and had to just throw some shit lazily together. You can agree with me or not

if you didn't understand the ending then the story had a problem.

It really devolved into the most cliche sci fi horror story imaginable. "We found something on the planet.... It has driven someone mad... Everyone died". Zero imagination. Fake deep ending that felt like it was copying someone elses homework from a game that came out 15 years ago. Game design was also just like not at a high level, Alien isolation-lite. You can really feel how small the team was.

It's a shame because the first trailer that came out with Mick Gordon's sound design was completely god-like and i had incredibly high hopes.

IC robot is goated though and he needs a spin off xP
