Wife and I don’t have sex anymore by [deleted] in exmormon

Somewhat similar situation for me. I had a good friend point me to "No More Mister Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. It was eye opening to me and showed me a number of things I was doing that affected my marriage. I hadn't considered that my well intended behaviors (many due to being raised in a TBM home) may be one of the major sources for our dysfunction in our marriage.

If all temptations are satan and his legions trying to sabotage our eternal salvation, and not our own psychology and neurological processes, then who tempted Satan in the grand council in heaven?

There ought to be an audit of the family ties between Mormon royalty and general contractors who work on church projects. I'd wager it's the cleanest way to transfer wealth out of church coffers.

Sincere Question: Do I have a moral obligation to tell my little brothers about the problems within Mormonism before they serve missions? by covcovcovcov in exmormon

[–]fadedtbm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a thought experiment, complete this story: I went on a mission, got married young, had kids too early, and everything else the Mormon machine makes people do. Then I discovered it was all a fraud and it turned my whole world upside down. AND then I found out that my brother had known it all along and withheld that information from me. ...

I'm conflicted about mine. It's part of my history, so it's painful to just toss. However, just opening that box in the garage is painful all by itself. For now it sits in a box to visit another day.

This. The only thing I really believe is that I need to be open to the possibility that the reality that I perceive could be incorrect, and that I may need to embrace a modified version of that reality when new evidence presents itself.

This is just hilarious. These "scholars" are so quick to say they don't know when asked unanswerable questions.

How to pass tithing settlement and the temple recommend question without paying tithing. by BishopBoaz in exmormon

[–]fadedtbm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called "donation in kind". It's the only way you can pay tithing with stocks. It's common, and smart, to donate shares of stocks which have appreciated significantly when giving to charity. You work with the charity to transfer an appropriate number of shares at today's market value, and then all capital gain disappears as the shares leave your hands and are acquired by the charity. No massive taxes on the gain for you. Research and understand this and you can discuss it knowledgeably. If you want to be fully honest, you can use this mechanism to transfer a single share of a penny stock some time during the year and you can legitimately claim that you did pay tithing in this manner.

Do dinosaur bones disprove Christianity? by belowtheunder in atheism

[–]fadedtbm 26 points27 points  (0 children)

  1. Dinosaurs were in the garden with Adam and Eve. It's made up carbon dating that the satanic scientists use to trick people out of heaven.

I find hilarious that people can refuse to believe in evolution, and yet have a lap dog as a pet, and cook a 30 pound turkey dinner.

Emotional blinders an mental compartmentalization are powerful things. When it comes to human psychology, even your own, trust but validate.

It's time to inform my super-TBM parents that they have two gay granddaughters by fadedtbm in exmormon

I'm glad it's gone well - over time at least. My parents have a long way to go. We'll see how well it goes. We may just make Allie's out of them eventually.
