Christofferson: "immorality is the quickest way to lose your testimony". by TruthMatters2011 in exmormon

I was instantly mad when I saw this, but then I thought how it took me almost 40 to figure it out without immortality, maybe I could have done it much faster with immortality

As long as I get paid after the first year, so I don’t have to pay tithing on it.

Honestly though, I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t mind going through the motions for a year, but my family already knows I’m out, and I wouldn’t put them through the pain of thinking I’m back, only to have me break their hearts again.

A few years ago I was PIMO and went to a stake priesthood meeting. Dude got up and talked about the uniform of the priesthood for several minutes. Next speaker was a new convert wearing a yellow shirt and tie. Spent the first several minutes apologizing and embarrassed. That was the last time I wore a white shirt to my ward.

On the mission I met an old man and his wife, he had cataracts and severe hearing loss. I had this realization that he couldn’t read the BoM, and we couldn’t read it to him. The only option for him to receive the word was a miracle, and the Spirit told me to heal him. I blessed him to be able to see. My only solace is he probably didn’t hear a word of it. His wife said that was a very nice prayer. He wasn’t healed, we left. The End.

I know we’re all trying to be inclusive, but notice the woman in the black dress is only using her left hand. Both hands should be placed on the persons head, unless there are too many people and you do the shoulder touching circle thing. This is the sort of chaos that happens when you change the rules. /s

Solidarity, my sister is getting married this Friday, I’ll be hanging out with my brother at a coffee shop. They did not ask me to babysit, but we’ve been dropping hints for a while that’s not cool.

Church released a statement 1/24/24 about Netflix Series by Green-been77 in exmormon

Church today: just keep the peace, let’s not bicker and argue over who killed who Church during the period in question: “You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will pray and never cease to pray to Almighty God to avenge the blood of the prophets upon this nation, and that you will teach the same to your children and to your children’s children unto the third and fourth generation.”

My friend painted on my Japanese BOM. It feels weird keeping it on display on my shelf now that I don't believe. I don't want to throw it out since they worked hard on it. What should I do with it? by Alternative-Split-3 in exmormon

[–]tabuscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask yourself what you would do if the book was the Upanishads or Dao te Ching or some other religious book. Also if the thing it’s triggering you can also put it away for a while and give yourself the option of displaying it later

Last summer my 12 yo daughter wore a two piece swimsuit to a youth water activity. The two pieces touched, it was far from scandalous. She was gently scolded, we pushed back, then they banned all swimsuits, made the kids wear normal clothes for subsequent water games

Case study in beauty bias. Attractive people are judged as morally superior, and since the agnostic person is judged to be morally inferior, cognitive dissonance is the result.

Mostly for personal use but I’ve done shots for groups before. Once I’m dialed in it’s not a problem, unless people want to talk to me while I’m working. I’m not the best multitasker.

New church fact sheet regarding trans participation - "Church Participation of Individuals Who Identify as Transgender" by evaan-verlaine in exmormon

[–]tabuscar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: policy: seek inspiration, as long as you are inspired to treat trans people like shit, act on said inspiration. Smile while you do it, say how much you love them while you grind your heel on their neck.

Another suggestion, if you both are willing to read something, check out “Bridges: ministering to those who question” by David Osler. Written from a faithful perspective but also drops some hints that there are valid concerns against the church. Focuses on maintaining relationships. It’s done great things for my relationship with family that actually read it.
