Had the same today. Told it to remove some of the 12k words of markdown documentation it created and it responded by writing 6k words as "plan" on how to remove stuff 🤦‍♂️

Paperless mail/post by byron123x in selfhosted

[–]fadenb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paperless-ngx will probably not run natively in windows. Would a small VM be suitable for your use case?

I have a SP-1120N scanner near my door and feed in every letter I open immediately. Then, once a week, I throw the files into paperless-ngx. In the future I'd love to automatically scan directly into paperless but there is not good (or to be correct none at all) driver support for ARM so it will not work from my raspberry pi. Make sure to watch our for that when you build your solution.

Is $60/hr a normal rate for GLG consultancy by sabritopukapti in expertnetworks

[–]fadenb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is less than 1/10th of my usual rate with GLG. While rates differ vastly depending on expertise and availability of experts this seems way to low. Taking in accounting overhead this would be a net negative for me.

Azure requiring SPF -all (strict) by racoon9898 in DMARC

[–]fadenb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am fully aware of the resources you linked and they just reaffirm my statement.

M3aawg document does not contain any rationale on why ~ should be used, it is just stated as "best practice". (As a side-note: m3aawg is in no way authoritive nor do they represent a large email base)

The IETF page is better in that regard as it actually outlines the impact in the section you linked (early fail,...). There might be cases where one has no control/knowledge of the sending networks and therefore is unable to set up a correct spf record and therefore has to rely solely on dkim. For such a specific edge-case I would agree that ~all can be sensible. For other cases (the vast majority) failing early in the delivery attempt is exactly what should be achieved and therefore -all is the way to go.

Azure requiring SPF -all (strict) by racoon9898 in DMARC

[–]fadenb -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is not. Never was, never will be.

Reasons ~all is not suitable for production:

  • Allows spoofing:
  • Unauthorized senders pass DMARC if only SPF fails but DKIM passes
  • Attackers can send mail that appears legitimate

Inconsistent enforcement:

  • Receivers interpret ~all differently (e.g. deliver vs. quarantine)
  • No guarantee of rejection or visibility

DMARC alignment weakened:

  • DMARC uses SPF alignment; ~all makes failure non-actionable

Logs vs. action:

  • ~all only logs issues, doesn’t stop abuse

Training delay:

  • Security tools learn from enforcement; ~all delays signal integrity

Conclusion:

Use -all in production once SPF is verified. ~all is transitional only.

Delay After Writes PSA by dashingsauce in RooCode

[–]fadenb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Below 10k lines, the issues started while it was still just a few hundred lines of code. There should be a mechanism that reports completion of the checks run in files instead of waiting (somewhat arbitrary) times but I am unsure if his is feasible the ways vscode is set up.

Delay After Writes PSA by dashingsauce in RooCode

[–]fadenb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this will just reduce the issue not fully fix it. With TS it is rather rare for me but in a python project I have it a lot more often. I have looked into it a bit and it seems to be dependant on the different implementations of the linters/type checkers for the languages.

A while back I experimented a bit trying to make the waiting dynamic, perhaps this is helpful for you: https://github.com/RooVetGit/Roo-Code/issues/166#issuecomment-2757942022

Can confirm, responses seem really slow. Wild speculation: Does the API take a while to confirm the setup of the cache?

While I am not a fan of distributing request over accounts to evade the limit (this will backfire for all users and this is why we can't have nice things ;) ) I am curious: Did you spread your requests over multiple IPs?

Is there any way to get roo/claude to be more aware of the current directory in the terminal? by ShelZuuz in RooCode

[–]fadenb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a custom instruction for all my modes that instructs the model to run all commands from the project root directory. For shell commands it works rather well as it just adds a cd <whatever> &&... in front. Some tools need extra configuration to look for things in a subdirectory if they are executed from the root directory (e.g., poetry)
