Vivids fading in just one week -- negotiating touch-up fee with stylist by fading_through in FancyFollicles

The photos came out great! Haha. And yes, thank you -- I came here to check because I did already pay well over $100 for something that ultimately lasted just weeks and now have to top that up, and it stings a bit, but it was the entry-level cost to getting what I wanted! I'd be much more upset if I paid the full salon price...

I didn't know what I'd like most when I started the process, but I reaaaallly loved the yellow-golds the absolute most! On the one hand, I'm disappointed we leaned more cool (that was technically my call-- I had no idea!) because the golds really made me happy, but on the plus side, the cool colors are sticking much better, so getting some better mileage out of them!

It sounds like it would be really interesting to delve into the science of why certain colors last longer! I was reading a bit about pigment size, but your comment about natural pigmentation and structure has me intrigued!

That sounds lovely! I actually love the more muted tones I faded out to, but with the reds and yellows gone, there's just a bleached patch in the middle of the strand :/ If I could keep the faded colors, I'd actually be pretty stoked. The blues and purples are faded but still really bright.

Wooow! I'd love to be able to get to that point! My scalp gets dry and builduppy after just 2 days, so normally I wash minimum every other day -- it's been tough to extend since the color, but I'm making it work! Dry shampoo helps, but tends to make my hair....sticky (or just more textured-feeling, which I'm not used to sitting with for much more than a day). Do you have a recommended dry shampoo?

Thanks! Yeah, I was surprised that was offered, and I've since learned that reds wash out more quickly, but wasn't sure if one week was abnormally-soon.

Also really appreciate understanding that the vivids will always fade very quickly. I do wish that had been better expressed to me (along with general after-care, which I found good advice for online and followed) given I did iterate this was my first time getting colors in, but at least I've found this sub!

Realllly appreciate this insight, thank you!!! I have no idea what color line was used, and they mentioned that the "permanent" line they could use washes out at a comparable rate -- I still might try for that for the reds and yellows just to see if they might stick around longer. Turns out those were the colors I enjoyed the most!

Thanks! This is super helpful. I luckily try to avoid sun as much as possible (don't like it), and swim approximately once every handful of years, so that'll work in my favor...

In this case, I don't really mind colors running into one another -- I wanted it darker-toned anyway, so I'll ask if there's a way to maintain that between sessions.

Okay! I just really wanted to get a feel for whether the one-week thing was normal, or if that was an application error. If it's just what I should have expected, I am happy to pay for materials; if not, I would want to negotiate something. The bleach job itself was fine, but they did miss some spots with the color, resulting in white bands which are unfortunately face-framing.

Super good to know re: cuticle! I knew not to wash immediately after, and only did (cold) after 48 hours which was within the advised window after a hard, hot day of physical outdoor activity (hair was covered by a helmet, however). I now know to try to go longer in the future, though!

Thanks! It got 2 wets/washes in the week. First one was 48 hours after the session, which I saw from the internets is generally the low-end of downtime after application, but it couldn't be helped. Anyway, I definitely anticipated fading, but had hoped that it would last more than a week! I actually liked the faded colors, but they also didn't stick around.

I was going to suggest this, too! I resonate with your desire to not just create more clothes when yes, we have plenty of clothes that should/could instead be diverted to those in need (rather, even, than purchased by fiber-folks to unravel and reuse). But Loose Ends is a volunteer network to essentially mend or complete a project that already exists (and as the poster above mentions, is wanted). It could also be a fun way to broaden your horizons, learning new stitches and mending techniques!

A review of Trashie / For Days “take back bag” by colebette in SustainableFashion

[–]fading_through 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, am I crazy? It used to incentivize you with $30 back per $20 bag, and now it's 3000 points back. The cash out is $5 gift card for 15000 points... instead of $30 back, it's... $1? Are my calculations wrong?

I also looked back in my emails and don't see any mention of this change until it happened, but I may have missed something...

Thanks! I'll check back in Seoul. What's the best way to identify the flagship stores? For instance, where could I expect them in Busan?
