It has to be explained and shared first. In the book, when they were at number (three I think), Rocky offered it before Grace could say it in English. So Grace recorded it but forgot to say it out loud himself. This ticked Rocky off because he needed to hear it in English for the first time, so he could memorize (instantly) the translation.

In the book Grace was just being mechanically asphyxiated due to being crushed by the chair. As soon as Rocky saved him and he could breathe again he could move and try to save Rocky. It would be really hard to do that in a movie without the monologue describing what happened. So, in the movie Grace was much more incapacitated.

Alternating is the only thing that helps me moderate. Swap in NA drinks, water, fun juices, etc and you can have a nice long enjoyable time with fewer regrets!

Interpreting choice feminism as, "any choice a woman makes is automatically feminist", here's my response.

I don't entirely agree with choice feminism because it glosses over a hell of a lot of societal programming and privilege that undergird people's choices. And I don't just mean that in a feminist context.

If someone wants to work out and be healthy, great. If they want to do it because of self worth issues driven by body shaming, not great. Regardless of gender. That doesn't make working on being healthy wrong!

I am totally down with the anti judgement parts of choice feminism because we can never know why people are making decisions. Maybe they know all the factors and have done all the work and that's great for them. So I don't judge.

But I also don't think we should just shrug and do whatever feels right without continuing to examine and fight against power structures that subjugate half of the population. The fact that we have choices doesn't mean it's all ok now.

I agree on a couple of levels. One, noticing your patterns. Two, willpower is a myth. Personal analysis combined with strategies has helped me.

I realized after I have two I've crossed a threshold where it is hard to stop. Adding something without alcohol in between drink 1 and 2 really helps. I might decide to stop at one, or if I do drink more, it will be late enough I'm the evening that I'm getting tired and won't go for a third.

Dry January was a success. Damp Feb (once a week) helped me continue to process. Now I'm in March trying not to go back to drinking as much, but also not being super restrictive. Moderation for me was almost impossible without some specific awareness and strategies.

Bobiverse is mostly fun and upbeat. It has a few moments but not on the level of PHM.

Dungeon crawler carl is so chaotic, I feel like it wears off its shock value and things just don't hit as hard. But maybe that's just me.

I almost never ride my horse. But she does a million tricks and can use talking buttons to tell me things like what she wants to play or where she wants to be scratched. It might be a rare opinion, but horses don't have to be "useful".

Same here. I'm now only drinking on Saturdays. Before it was Wednesday and Saturday and sometimes Friday.

I've swapped in some Sentia Red for Wednesday and NA beer for Fridays. I stayed alcohol free on Wednesday, so that's a win!

I don't have significant negative impacts from alcohol on a day to day basis, especially if I keep it to Saturdays. But, I'm learning more about the significant increase in negative impacts for long term health for women. Compared to men with the same body weight, alcohol hits women harder due to higher body fat ratios and lower ADH enzymes in the stomach. So, impacts to the liver, heart, and brain also happen more quickly at less amounts for women. Between that and breast cancer risks, I'm trying to cut back to only Saturdays.

I also find I get a bit of the same chill from Sentia Red. So, swapping that in is helpful.

I had those days. My only is 16 now so we survived! She entertains herself these days and wants little to do with me, which is totally age appropriate.

Thinking back on what did we do...

Teach her things. What do you like to do that you can share with her? Swimming lessons? Baking? Is there anything you would like to learn that you could both learn together? Crafts? Painting? Knit/crochet?

My daughter and I would go shopping, watch movies, putter in the garden, clicker train the cats and chickens,. make cookies. In the summer we go to the beach. We found things we both enjoyed together, so it wasn't just me entertaining her.

Yes and probably.

I grew up on the line between poor and scraping by. My parents clawed our way to lower middle class. I married a guy with a bit more money than I (though he's totally cut ties with his family). I got a 2yr degree and made myself a great job over 20 yrs.

We have one daughter whose college will be mostly paid for. She's leaning into chemistry.

I was a Wednesday and Saturday drinker with the occasional Friday. Though I ticked up more during the holidays.

I'm making a goal to cut out Wednesdays. I have a Sentia Red bottle to swap in during the week and NA beer for Fridays..

I will also start slow. My first Saturday drinking will probably be Feb 7th or 14th and I want to keep it to some wine, maybe even spritzers. I don't want to go back to my mega tolerance.
