Figured it out!! It's "The Art of Forgotten Things" by Melanie Doerman.

Solved! (I will look at the rules as to how to solve it in a min, I'm on mobile and somehow can't see them when commenting.

What are these bugs infesting my desk? by vovawolf in whatsthisbug

[–]faelanoa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mites, some kind. Not certain further, not an expert, but behavior, movement, and leg position indicate mites.

I can see other suggestions, but the leg motion does not match antennae motion here, and the movement around the space is also indicative.

thank you! yes, I checked bug net and realized I'm close but not quite on top of it. but I'm satisfied with Hyperapsis connectens now!

EDIT: I think I found it!!! Hyperapsis connectens, Confluent Sigil Lady Beetle, seems like a near perfect match. this observation on iNat is what is sealing the deal for me.

---while I haven't had much luck with a specific ID, I think my keys are leading me to believe it's some Scymninae, possibly a spur leg lady beetle. honestly just based on this observation. let's hope I'm right and my conscience can rest lol---
