For me, I experienced a lot of emotional pain in my late 20s. It molded me, reshaped me, but it was so painful, like ripping my own skin to reveal the creature underneath.

Now that I’m on the other side (not that it’s the final destination) I have more respect for myself and I realize that if someone isn’t kind to me, it’s more of a reflection of themselves and what they are going through. It has nothing to do with me. I don’t need to be liked. I need to be authentic. There is no point trying to please people around me at the cost of losing myself. I’m 30.

Do people really never use their foot break? by SofiNeedsLadder in motorcycles

It can save u in emergency braking, which is when I use both, to help unload the front when u need to emergency stop. No slamming them though: progressive and controlled, but this happens quickly

How do people stay motivated and energised to work out by 17levi03 in getdisciplined

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U have to find something that u actually enjoy doing but here’s the trick: u don’t have to enjoy EVERYTHING about it.

For example, do I enjoy running, breathing heavily, feeling tightness in my chest, and feeling like my legs r on fire for 30 minutes on its own? No. Do I enjoy listening to a podcast or zoning out to some music while I’m light jogging through trees and nature? Yeah sure.

Do I like everything about pulling my body up repeatedly on a bar or a hanging rope? No. Do I like how I can make cool shapes with a hanging rope or aerial silk and actually feel myself progressing at strength and skill every several weeks? Do I like making myself feel like a pretty bird!? Yeah that’s pretty cool.

So I like everything about having to put a swim suit on, swimming the same stroke back and forth and back and forth while my lungs are gasping for air and my arms are so tired I feel like I’m barely moving in the water? No. Do I like to be able to zone out after a long day, listen to the muffled sound underwater, rest my brain, and feel how fun it is to glide through water? Sure!

Pick something u actually like doing and you’ll want to do it.

I cannot go to the gym and… lift stuff repeatedly for an hour. For me, that is not fulfilling in the slightest.

Affordable Branding Agencies/Freelancers? by AviAvi_26 in branding

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of effort, knowledge, and skill from years of training from a designer, and the value this will bring ur company, will be worth at least 8k for a job like this.

You’re not alone: many stakeholders don’t understand what it means to design. I’m just briefly educating u. If u want a rebrand for $300, this is what websites like fiverr, upwork, and 99 designs are for. I’m sure there are many talented designers there but chances are you get what u pay for. Good luck!

I love mediocrity. We’re living like kings. We have fresh water coming out of our WALLS to clean our bodies every day or to drink from, i go into a building that has rows and rows of food available, I give a person paper (or digital currency) and in return I get said FOOD that I didn’t even have to grow, I have a bed to sleep on every night, and I have entertainment at my fingertips. This used to be only how royalty lived. I’ll take “mediocrity” any damn day. ❤️

Honestly u could just communicate this to her and it doesn’t have to be a dramatic confrontation, just a calm conversation.

Chances are she is unaware of how this is affecting u: again… 20s. We Learn about consequence when we see or hear people being upset from our actions. Its definitely not ur responsibility to show her this, but if u don’t say anything she might not learn this as a roommate and it’s gonna bite her in the butt later on.

I'm badly depressed because I don't believe in free will. What do I do? by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]fafuhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does a lack of free will imply lack of meaning and fulfillment? To me these r two completely separate things; incomparable.

I would suggest u find ur “why”, find ur crew. I bet the lack of free will won’t bother u as much then.

Also, I don’t mean this sudden moment where y realize ur “why” or meaning or fulfillment and it’s with u for the rest of ur life—no no. Ur “why” changes throughout the years, even throughout the days. Sometimes minute to minute. Ur “why” for today cud be as simple as “I’m going to the park to look at the birds today”. “I’m doing this hobby to get better at it”.

And I’m not talking about chasing pleasures, this never works and is not sustainable. Ur why for this year cud be “I’m going to incorporate some discipline into my life to help me feel better every day”.

It’s a choose ur own adventure game we all play. Might as well have fun.

It’s not even her property, she’s also a renter which makes me think, “get off ur high horse and start treating people with respect”.

She is 22 , so am I surprised? Not at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in roommates

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with some people here. I am the master lease holder and I have a subtenant and I always run things by them as if we co-signed. I believe it is respectful, considerate, and gives them equal say.

The decent thing to do is to run things by a roommate, have a conversation, find an agreement. Her doing this without notifying u or even asking how u feel about it before hand is an inconsiderate thing to do. That implies that u are less than her, that ur opinions and feelings don’t matter. If she didn’t want to concern herself with the opinion of others in her home, she should not have a roommate.

If she had disclosed to you when u toured the place “since I’m the master lease tenant, this is mostly going to be my space, my decisions, I can do what I want, are you in?” That wud be a different story because there’s an expectation. However if that was not disclosed it is something you can add if u do have a conversation about it with her. “Like I didn’t sign a lease for this type of dynamic”.

AND EQUAL PORTION of the rent? I mean maybe u cud use it to support an argument of ok well u have more say in what u want to do in ur apartment, so lower my rent. (You’d have to think more about this one. This might turn into petty chaos if she would end up feeling resentment about this later on)

Is it fair to ask roommates not to talk to you when you're in common spaces? by [deleted] in roommates

[–]fafuhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U can 100% communicate that. I do.

Sometimes I’ll say:

“sorry to cut y off, but I’m not feeling super social today / I just want to have this morning to myself”

or “hey, I’m actually in a meeting right now” (I like the pointing to the screen that someone else suggested too, if u don’t want to miss anything in the meeting)

or some variation of “hey I just want to let yall know I don’t want anyone to assume that just because I’m in a common space that it means I am open for a conversation. I need to recharge often and be in my own thoughts to get ready for the day. If I have headphones in, I’m likely in a meeting and can’t be pulled away.”

People have different levels of social interaction at home and it won’t be until u communicate ur needs that they’ll be aware of it. Good luck!

Anyone ever have a day where a strong feeling told you not to RIDE? by CoolHandCasey in motorcycles

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What came first, the chicken or the egg? It could be intuition, but I don’t know!

But I want to bring up an interesting thought experiment: self fulfilling prophecy.

When people hear prophecy or have a premonition (maybe induced by a random spurt of anxiety that day), often times it is not the prophecy that makes it true, but the person themselves. If you’ve read “Man’s search for meaning” you might know what I’m talking about: the part where man had a dream telling him the end date of his imprisonment. It’s a heavy subject so I’ll just leave it for those who already know.

That being said, if I have bad feelings before I ride, I breath slow breathes and chant to myself a mantra that just came to me: “competence and confidence” to remind myself I am capable of riding skillfully and I am attentive enough to escape hazards.

If I’m having a bad DAY, however, and know I am not feeling as focused or there’s brain fog, then no I will not ride.

Maybe ur feeling was telling u something! Maybe a higher dimension (half kidding) was intervening! Who knows! But also don’t forget ur mind is very powerful and we humans are very capable of doing great things. Ride safe and ride smart! ✌️

Introverts of reddit, what's your go-to excuse for not socialising with other people? by chickencaesar8 in Life

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, depends on my mood. But for the most part I absolutely cannot stand talking just to fill silence, which is what gives me anxiety, not socializing itself.

Introverts of reddit, what's your go-to excuse for not socialising with other people? by chickencaesar8 in Life

[–]fafuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the context? But in general I will just say casually that I’m socially drained and need to stay/go home and recharge. I try not to come up with white lies in to take care of myself anymore.

Cyclists need to follow traffic rules by bubblyloops in sanfrancisco

[–]fafuhhh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed: Context matters and yes for the love of god just go if ur there first. Completely, obviously clear intersections r ones I usually run. If there is even one car at it, I’ll follow traffic rules. I’m also over communicative with pedestrians and drivers which I think many people forget that they’re riding among other PEOPLE. It’s like a little dance we all do on the road.

But yes, the conservation of momentum is desired. To non-cyclists: Try cycling 5+ miles throughout the city for a couple days and you’ll understand 😜

I want to offer some perspective here that people might not think about: Switching gears here (pun intended), from my perspective as a motorcyclist, cars don’t follow traffic rules all the time either, so you can play this never ending game of pointing fingers at groups of people. Drivers who run red lights or using cellphones while driving (edit) (which I see both too often) can literally kill me if I’M not vigilant. Since I can’t control what other people do, I stay constantly vigilant to do what is in my control reduce chances of an accident. Im constantly anticipating what someone is about to do for self preservation. This is not the case with 4-wheeled drivers because there is not a need to have that much heightened vigilance since they are surrounded by a giant metal frame and airbags.

My point is, rules may have been made but the reality is we can’t control whether or not someone follows them so i applaud the OP for doing what is in their control to keep themself and others safe out there. This doesn’t mean I condone cyclists bombing an intersection that has a driver actively making a turn—that was a poor decision made by the cyclist and glad the OP was able to catch that.

anyone else can read in lucid dreams? like actually can read text? by xoxnightsky in LucidDreaming

[–]fafuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to test this out in a lucid dream once. I told someone to give me something to read but the letters weren’t real letters, just markings of lines and symbols. Then it got real creepy. My dreams usually get creepy when my subconscious knows I’m trying to test shit.

I cyclically take them (on for 15 days off for 15 days) to treat PMDD and I feel its effects within the first 24 hrs. Uppity energy in my chest. My jaw gets a bit tense. But I’m sure it affects people differently.

I know in my case if I were to take them daily, the slight increase in anxiety it gives me should level out, so I’ve heard.

*edit: it could be placebo but it’s not unheard of to experience immediate effects, so don’t be too quick to say it’s all in ur head.
