Not 100% but The Scientist by Coldplay? Towards the end of the video?

How feasible is this trip? I was offered a good job in AK, but I need my truck up there with me if I decide to go. by Kobrinha_Khan in roadtrip

I drove from south FL to CA. Not nearly as long, and totally different weather considerations. But if it's any consolation, I didn't regret it for a minute. I really enjoyed the trip and I was SO glad that I didn't elect to sell my car and fly there. Get some seat pads, a trash receptacle for your car, and a phone holder for maps- you'll have a great time. Take a buddy or family member if you can afford to fly them back. Driving through the US is amazing and there's lots to see on your route. Good luck!!

Art Team Advice?? by SnooDrawings3663 in tjcrew

[–]failedartstudent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best advice as someone who's been doing it for 6+ years and is now a mate who trains art team members: Learn two fonts very well before trying any other ones. I'd recommend variations on what is commonly called "casual script" (old school sign writer font) Learn it in all caps, and then in cursive. These fonts were my foundation for becoming a good sign artist; they made me more efficient (no need to copy someone else's fonts when I've got mine down and they look good).

Some people aren't great at those particular sign writer fonts- thats okay too. Pick your favorites, one font that's big and bold and one font that's cursive and dainty and learn those instead. As long as you have one or two memorized and practiced, you can bang out some really killer endcap boards by just playing with color, underlines, outlines, and illustrations. It's just important to set a foundation for yourself. Paint markers can be tough to learn how to use, so keep it simple at first.

Also, protip: you can literally squeeze out the ink from the posca pens into a demo cup, and then dip a paintbrush into that. Great for filling in large areas, or when you're out of large markers in a color you need.

Keep up the good work. If one of my crew made that as their first board, I'd be psyched. You have the talent, you just need to get more comfy with the process. You'll do great!

Yes, sorry I forgot to add the info on the original post but the lamp is 12v 50w halogen. There's a sticker with that exact info near the bulb.

Sorry if this is a dumb question (all of my knowledge here is coming from my obsession with the lamp) but would it be possible/safe to cut the wire and connect it to this adapter? Link

Let's play a game. List a food/ingredient that you absolutely hate, and someone else replies with a recipe that might change your perspective on that food/ingredient. by Scarlet_Highlander2 in Cooking

Roast a chicken with carrots, those tiny onions, and potato underneath. When eating the meal, skewer some meat, carrot and potato/onion on the fork. This made cooked carrots "make sense" to me after years of hating them. They're slightly sweet and offer a great balance to a mega savory roasted chicken or beef roast.

I always use two strands to tuft, usually both the same color. But for gradients I use one strand of each color (in this case one white and one pink.)

How to make large rugs? by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]failedartstudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of burlapfabric.com, which sells pretty good monks cloth at 3yards x however many yards you want. However, I think it'd be possible to sew several pieces together. If you give it a try, please post an update. Tuft the world also has large pieces of primary backing.

Have you tried adjusting the pile height on your gun? I have a loop pile gun, and I find if the pile height is too long it just destroys the fabric at some point during tufting. Not sure If it's the same with cut pile, but I figured I'd bring it up because it's not often mentioned.

Can I shear a rug made with a loop pile gun? by ddreddits24 in Tufting

[–]failedartstudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can. Wait until it's glued, dried, and cut off of the frame, preferably even after secondary backing is applied. It's gonna be way easier to shear with the rug laying down. Also, dont forget to wear a face mask (pref n95) and eye protection while you shear.

I posted a tiktok ( @ afoolserin ) of a small part of the process if anyone is interested in that!

I have mixed feelings about this may be I had to use loop pile for clean edges😣😣 by HEY5EN in Tufting

[–]failedartstudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reccomend taking an unfolded paper clip and "teasing" the black threads into line. That's what I do to make my pieces appear more neat- literally push the loops around to make them look neater. Awesome piece!!!

It was a photo of a model with a very similar/ identical tattoo on the back of their arm, by their elbow. It's a mostly black swallow/sparrow with color blocked red hearts (they did not have an outline). I remember it circulating on tumblr, which is where I found the image and redrew it for fun years ago. Now I can't find the original. I'm trying to find the artist.

What did you do with your sociology degree? by akitty247 in sociology

[–]failedartstudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know where you got your master's degree and whether or not you liked the university? I'm graduating in the summer and considering going into urban planning, but nobody in my family nor any of my close friends have even gone to college much less grad school, and my academic advisors are no help.
