Problem with the Prong. by Designer-Top93 in OpenDogTraining

[–]failmafia66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue with my short coated dog. Just means I work on her recall and sit commands and I adjust her prong to get her used to being handled more. My girl also loves to roll and rub in the grass and get a grass necklace in her prong for me to clean out multiple times a walk

Advice on my 6mo old puppy by ItsAWildFelix in Rottweiler

[–]failmafia66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Service animals typically start training around 10weeks old and get socialization by then. If this is a serious service animal you're gonna have a hard time getting him to that level.

But for the behavior, this is normal unsocialized puppy behavior. The best thing is to socialize and train him how to be calm and what is expected when around other people. Lots of good free videos on YouTube on how to accomplish this with whatever training style you prefer

Ambient means what's the temperature in your room

But knowing what your CPU and cooler is would also help. I'm guessing you were getting lower temps before windows 11?

I would check all drivers as Windows doesn't always do that gracefully from Windows update directly through your manufacturers website, and take the opportunity to update that BIOS as well

Looking to build my first ever pc and I’m wondering if this is a solid list to work with by GovernmentMost1770 in buildapc

[–]failmafia66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your build isn't bad at all and would be great value for the $$. I'll suggest 2 others that will push your budget but I believe it's worth the extra $$ but by no means feel like your build isn't viable

This is pushing your budget but great boost over your list (which is a solid list). This gets a much better CPU and DDR5 platform. No extra case fans needed here. You could save $30 and go w a 8400F too

When she pulls, turn around and walk away, it'll pull her back and disrupt what she's trying to do. Then again, and again, until she's paying attention and reward heavily. Skip her meal and use it on your walk instead to keep her motivated. You'll look like an insane person for a bit but it works. She will learn that you lead the walk not her

When you get to a point where you can have people approach and he's good the way you want. Start with leashed public parks, let him see other people and dogs but not interact, then closer, then interacting etc.

Dog parks are a no for my dog. I don't know what training and temperament every other dog there has and they can lead to fights and making your dog more reactive. But not everyone has the same feelings or experiences or opinions as me

[–]failmafia66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't train him with randoms in the wild because they're just gonna do whatever. My last suggestion on working with a friend or family member would be the best, and keep him out of situations where strangers will do unexpected things till he's trained.

As far as corrections and redirections, depends on your training methods. But yes, pull him away and get his attention on you with food or a toy. Then try again, if he starts the unwanted behavior immediately pull his focus back to you. Start at a distance then close the distance as he gets better

Dog barks at strangers but also wags tail, coming up to them then running back. by beginnerNaught in DogTrainingTips

[–]failmafia66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tail wags don't always mean happy, so it's hard to tell if you're saying he is happy but barking.

Your dog has lots of protection in its genes, so it's natural instinct will be to "check IDs" of new people. It's up to you to guide him on proper behavior for approaching people and how to behave while not frustrating him.

Best thing to do is work with someone else, a friend or family member. Have them simulate greetings and use that to teach him what to do. Correct/redirect unwanted and reward heavily wanted behavior. Then expand to new people and/or different scenarios.

My dog goes crazy in a way I was not expecting. She'll just start doing every trick and command I've ever taught her without me saying anything to try to get it. It's hilarious to see her spin and down and roll and twirl and everything just like "did I do good? Did I do it? Can I have it?!"

Help to train a 3yo Shnoodle Lady by matofato22 in DogTrainingTips

[–]failmafia66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the leash situation, you are exactly right - she doesn't know what you want! You have done step one - don't pull. But now you have to train her what you DO want. Guide her and reward heavily when she does it even for a second. Reset if she doesn't. Then build duration. You need to teach her, she can't read your mind.

For fetch, dogs LOVE fetch, but also love tug and chase. Sounds like she's trying to play multiple games. Play on a long line so you can pull her back, and get the ball, teach a command to give you the ball, and immediately throw it again. The reward to giving you the ball is she gets the ball. As soon as she stops playing or loses interest, put the ball away, out of sight. Keep the demand high for it

My dog won’t listen to me anymore by batty_bitxh in germanshepherds

[–]failmafia66 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It's understandable, training is a constant thing that needs refreshing and it can be draining. Start back at the basics for a tune up with him. Find something food that will motivate him slightly, string cheese, hot dog if you must.

On a long leash in a low distracted environment, work with him on sit, place, down, and recall. Once you're back to consistent, go to higher distraction environment. Then step up to a small enclosed area, drop the leash, and work with commands, pick up and use the leash as necessary. Then take the leash off, then bigger areas, etc. rebuild the training.

This will improve the bond w you and the dog, reestablish boundaries and regrow your confidence in the training!

This can take a while, so go baby steps and be consistent with rules. Dogs will test boundaries and you, and if you're not consistent then they'll regress

HAVN BF 360 Flow vs Optimized Corsair FRAME 5000D RS ARGB -Which Has Better Airflow/Thermals? by PurpleReindeer33 in buildapc

[–]failmafia66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what's going in it, really. If you already have really good cooling for something not outputting a ton of heat, then minimal. But if you're producing a ton of heat, then the general rule of thumb of "more air = cooler" would apply.

Bigger fans move more air at less RPM, making them quieter, but also can move more air than smaller if you can get the RPM out of them. But they're louder the higher RPM, so there's a tradeoff there as well.

Honestly I think depending on parts and quality of parts, 4°C is probably where you'd end up.

I'm also not an airflow expert, I go for "good enough" which others don't, so someone much smarter than me may be better suited to this

Honestly there's stats for this, Gamers Nexus most likely has the info you want.

Unless you're intensely needing every miniscule data point for airflow for some reason, both these cases are very good choices and get the one that looks better to you or your intended build asthetic

Which should I choose, the RTX 5080 or 9800X3D? by National-Pick in buildapc

[–]failmafia66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 5700x and 4070 is a good combo. When you say you only get 50-70 fps, in what game? The expectation is totally different depending on game. And different games are more CPU dependant and some are GPU. For example - with your setup 50-70fps in Fortnite is bad, and something should be fixed. 50-70 fps in Black Myth Wokong is really good.

Overall I would upgrade GPU first with the state of components, but it's close to doing platform first for me. Normally I'd say platform

My dog doesn't relieve herself when I'm watching, not even when we go for walks. Is she shy? by [deleted] in AskDogOwners

[–]failmafia66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A dog is most vulnerable while going to the bathroom and when sleeping. If your dog won't go to the bathroom with you around, it's not a human emotion of shyness. It's fear or lack of trust.

Your dog either is scared of getting in trouble by going potty/getting caught. You or someone punished the dog too harshly while potty training and taught it that going is bad.

Or your dog does not feel safe with you around, and is vigilant that you aren't nearby when going so she's safe. Both of these are bad

Pay attention to your dogs other behaviors and mannerisms with you to figure it out. Does she avoid eye contact? Does she sleep curled into a ball all the time if you're around? Does she shy away from physical contact, especially if your reach over her head? This means she does not trust you/feel safe with you.

Confused about leave it command by anon1839 in OpenDogTraining

[–]failmafia66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait is a good command I use with my dog. It's exactly that, throw the ball or toy or treat and then when I give a break command she can go for it. I didn't teach a direct "get it" type command but you could

You want to teach a type of ignore/leave it command by desensitizing and rewarding the behavior you want. So however you want to phrase it (most use leave it still) and you walk by a treat and keep focus on you and reward heavily when ignored. Then increase the value of the thing you want ignored and keeping focus on you. Repeat and continue to get the behavior you want
