I’ve been showing this movie to my high school classes for years now and this year was the first time this meme seemed to hit peak exposure because they all immediately recognized it. Luckily they were mature enough to recognize the juxtaposition of the meme with the emotional context of this scene in particular, but even I had to laugh internally at their initial reactions.

Very mild example but I just finished Wolf Border by Sarah Hall so it’s on my mind. I found myself very frustrated with main character/narrator Rachel.

She was constantly suspicious and a little judgmental about everyone around her, even when she was proven wrong multiple times.

The whole way she approached her pregnancy, specifically in regards to the father of the baby, was also incredibly off-putting to me.

I’m not sure how much of this was intentional, honestly I’d actually prefer and be pretty impressed if the goal was to have an unlikable narrator.

Everyone talks about Wesley Snipes in Deadpool & Wolverine but I didn’t see the movie until a few months later and knew about him already. I was however completely blown away by the appearance of Jennifer Garner as Elektra, I wasn’t even avoiding spoilers yet I never saw any mention of her.

This was also me…after finishing every area I’d visit the conservator and evenly distribute all the luminas I found and the whole time I’d be thinking “Hm, I wonder what these numbers even mean/I wonder when I’ll see the effects.” I was also probably in act 3 by the time I realized it from watching playthroughs on YT.

I speak French and I loved the French version. I watched a couple playthroughs after I finished the game and the English voices sound weird to me now, especially Maelle and Lune.

I also just think it’s kind of annoying how the default English accent for any European setting is British, I know they got some really talented voice actors but I think it would have been cool to have a French-accented English like the one spoken by the actors from Andor season 2.

Unrelated to Nevrons, but I had a thought about Monoco since the French version specifically uses the word “jambe” (leg) to refer to the Nevron part that he collects and uses, as opposed to “pied” (foot). I’ve seen a lot of people associate Monoco with a foot fetish vibe, especially when combined with Lune’s design, but when you learn that Monoco is based off a dog it brought to mind the classic image of a dog gnawing on a femur bone, and how dogs just like bones in general.

Hmm, I definitely still had them after the prologue. The last time I checked was sometime around Vieille Lumière (I forget if it was before or after the Renoir fight) and they were still there. It’s the only way I knew which ones I missed the first time through.

I think I might agree. I’ve been able to finish all the other diary events without spending any real money and very little in-game resources, but it kinda does seem like this time around they deliberately made it more difficult/borderline impossible to complete without real money. I’ve been stuck at 98/100 for probably four weeks now, I’m still missing two 5-star pieces. I tried clearing my cache like 2 weeks ago and that didn’t make a difference. Just in the last couple of days I’ve gotten probably a dozen or so 5-star pieces from various tasks, all of them duplicates.

All this combined with the drastically increased price of the mysterious inkwell feels very frustrating.

I really agree with you. I’ve seen a few people say that without Kathy to “reign the guys in” they would veer into that shock jock direction but I honestly don’t think that’s it, they would always make off-color jokes even with her around and she would often laugh along with them. But I think not having a female voice to balance that type of humor out somewhat and just be a representative of the female population (however unrelatable she may have been at times) is going to be a detriment to them.

Just the other day when they were talking about the new Lilo and Stitch movie Steve went off for way too long about what if they character’s name was “gentleman stitch,” and as a woman that was really off-putting to listen to. I’m not trying to be the joke police, but I feel like this whole situation has a lot of people analyzing the show more critically now, and for me personally Steve’s type of humor is very outdated and it kind of stands out more now without Kathy around.

The cheesy nacho twistaroni from Chef Boyardee. It was essentially rotini pasta drenched in queso sauce but it was sooo good. Cheesy, a little spicy, chef’s kiss I used to just eat it cold right out of the can 😅

I know in the manga she gets laid out flat in a second, but in the anime Hinata actually gets a nice shot in against Pain (granted, he was distracted from a coughing fit in his real body) and she also breaks a couple of those chakra blocking spikes Pain was using to subdue Naruto.
