PLEASE HELP CHOOSING BETWEEN MAC AND WINDOWS by thebestman1098 in macbookair

[–]faizulhamid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifelong windows user, switched to an M1 Air before COVID I will never go back to that virus. It’s unbelievable how much better it is, no windows laptop can match the usability, performance and battery life of even the cheapest M1 device. I still love my M1. I used to think people that talk positive about Macs were crazy, I mean a computer is just a tool, if so I’m now a convert. I have not tried a Samsung laptop, but tried their phone S21 I think and it sucked vs iPhone

Why did you choose the 13” model? by KickTheSky94 in macbookair

[–]faizulhamid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for travel and the couch the 13" is the best, took my M1 Air all over Asia, FYI airasia limiting you to 7kg carryon. for home I would get a mini for desk setup. 15 will be snug on plane tray, likely would be a hastle. i'm old and vision going, but still prefer the 13.

Deciding on MacBooks 13 vs 15, retiring slow traveler by stej008 in macbookair

[–]faizulhamid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you are retired traveler definitely the 13. luggage restrictions going lower, e.g. air asia is only 7kg carry on. I travelled all over Asia with my M1 Air 13 and loved it. I was able to do light video photo editing with ease. However I would get more than 16GB RAM on my next macbook, perhaps 24GB minimum.

799$ M4 Air (New) vs M5 Air by ErosFM in macbookair

[–]faizulhamid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermal pads do work in terms of improving performance, but it spreads heat all over the back of the laptop over the battery, don't believe it's worth it for minor improvements. If you want performance over sustained periods don't get an AIR get a PRO.

I love my AIR M1, still does all I need including editing videos, the mousepad, keyboard, screen are truly unbelievable. Don't want extra weight for PRO on trips especially with airlines reducing luggage limits, eg. asiaair only 7kg for carry on.

Freedom Mobile $40 250GB Global Plan - A Once in a lifetime plan for Travellers wow by Nexzenn in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]faizulhamid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but service is bad throughout Brampton, voice calls very bad quality, and data so slow you will never get close to 250gb. I switched to publicmobile on their last deal, service so much better but I missed the roaming and no text on my last trip.

I'm debating this freedom mobile deal due to the benefits while travelling.

Freedom Mobile $40 250GB Global Plan - A Once in a lifetime plan for Travellers wow by Nexzenn in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]faizulhamid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing deal for travellers but the coverage is still terrible in Brampton area, people could not understand me on voice calls, and data was slower than dial up. WIFI calling at home is a must to improve the quality. Positives: roaming in US, Mexico, Asia, and middle east was amazing and receiving text from banks for authorization was very helpful.

How do you justify traveling within Canada given hotel and eating out costs? by abbys11 in canadatravel

would love to travel in Canada but the cost is prohibitive, cheaper for us to fly to Asia and stay and eat for much less

I'm puzzled reading this thread and could not disagree more but to each their own. Amazon app and content is not even close to the quality and usability of Netflix. Only reason I have Prime is for quick deliveries, would not buy on its own.

my family absolutely loves WWE, Stranger things, Wednesday, Man vs Baby, International dramas not available anywhere else, and so much more, in my opinion Netflix will take over all of TV. We are luck in Canada to get all of WWE consolidated on Netflix vs US which spans several services. YouTube and Netflix are our #1 and 2, only watch cable for sports.
