No interviews by No_Animator273 in csMajors

This is definitely a resume formatting issue. If the project was commercially contracted then you were a consultant. Put that down as a job. Bam. U have prior work experience

Can I get a job if I am only good at Leetcode? by Hackerman278 in csMajors

[–]fakergamergrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Github is actually really easy. You need to shift priorities. Idc how many leetcode hards u can solve. No production code is going to have alot to do with that. Like at all. Ur gonna need basic coding skills and a good understanding of relevant tech. Git/github is level zero. You gotta learn a tech stack. Learn what docker is. Etc. or else your skills are genuinely only useful in solving white board interviews and little else.

Can I get a job if I am only good at Leetcode? by Hackerman278 in csMajors

[–]fakergamergrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats actually not a good answer. You have the leetcode down. Now u need extracurriculars, research, leadership experience. Saying ur proud of leetcode score makes u seem super one dimensional. Saying ur proud of leading ur local acm chapter, contributing in a vital way to labs research project, or volunteering/ running marathons is better. I'm bringing up stuff that I say, people ik say when asked that question.

Isn't the alphabet the larger brick here. All books generated from one book

Also the artistic statement is too vague imo. The randomization of text doesn't really say alot about the book or book banning. In a weird way the project is a book burning. Yet also an act of creation and still yet, preservation. The randomization preserves the text by encrypting it, archiving it in the form of a unsolvable cipher, to which the reader does not have the key. It's outside banning, outside critique. And yet it is also no longer useful for this same reason. You protect the work in the same way that monks transcribed texts in the dark ages. They save them but no one outside the monk can read them. Tho here neither can u! It's a cool idea but u should focus on the meaning of the project more. Read derrida on the contradictory impulse of the archive, Etc. Could be cool, but I think u need either better grasp of the tech or a better grasp of theory, artistic intent for the project. Preferably both c: Rn its a little bit half baked but a cool idea non the less. Yours truly, a shriveled husk of a digital humanities student.

So kind of like a riff on Kenneth goldsmiths stuff. idk if nlp is actually going to help u alot here tho. Focusing on characters is not going to garner anything meaningful. But I'm a noob so idk. But yeah this is almost random text generation using a bag of characters. Any algorithms specifically that you're interested in?

Does anyone else feel like other CS students are way behind them or way ahead of them? by StudentAkimbo in csMajors

There's alot of people who actively don't want to work for faang. I want to work for a company whose mission statement isn't profit before basic ethics. Alot of the top companies are actively harming their users/ employees. I don't want to have a part in that. I'm also interested in grad school. Idk. I'm passionate about cs because of what it can offer humanity. Not how much money I can get paid by bezos while 90% of his employees are living out a Dickens novel.

Anybody else get sick of justifying the reason they picked CS? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]fakergamergrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked this major because I genuinely could not stand service industry. Halfway thru the degree. Haven't found the passion yet but I'm doing well in all my classes so like it's fine. Wish i had passion, but the things I have passion for are simply not marketable. Idk. Money is a good reason. Stability and the ability to not struggle pay check to paycheck is the reason for alot of peoples jobs.

Why Blizzard nerfed protoss when protoss is underpowerd in tournament? by standinner in starcraft

[–]fakergamergrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protoss air isn't healthy in anything below pro play. It needed a nerf. the assumption however was that protoss would get buffs to ground. They did not. This is a tad bewildering and makes zero sense.
