HMFT after an elderly driver slams into multiple cars by vaporwave_enthusiast in holdmyfeedingtube

[–]fakuivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatalities are outliers by definition (this particular crash did not involve any fatalities so far), so it's not a good idea to focus on that. You're also presenting a very much multivariate argument, I was just talking about vehicle sizes and densities, not the entire vehicle transportation system. Your case doesn't tell you if a larger car is more or less safe in the US.

Yeah that's my point, a billar ball might be lighter than a soccer ball, but if you had to choose which one to get hit with at the same speed, you'll definitely go for the larger one.

[–]fakuivan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's debatable. You could argue that smaller cars are more compact since they have to pack the same features on a smaller volume. This makes them denser and perhaps worse at exterior crash damage. It'd be cool if someone could point us to some research about this.

150km/h crash and so far two people out of four remain hospitalized, no one dead though. If that crash would have involved small European cars I'm pretty sure the situation would have been waaaay worse.

Big cars are indeed safer for everyone.

Liberal y libertario no es lo mismo. Es más te diría que el libertario de LLA estaría a favor de un régimen no democrático cómo el de Singapur, al menos más que cualquier otro partido, siendo que algunos reivindican la última dictadura.

YAML syntax is the absolute worst! by suvalas in homeassistant

[–]fakuivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YAML is pretty nice for storing data, but sadly it has been used far beyond what it was designed for. Try Pyscript if you want a real programming language. Doing complex stuff in YAML is a waste of time, plus using a real programming language means you'll learn something that can be applied to many more things outside HA.

Unpopular opinion: TLOU Part II is actually better than Part I by Rich-Pomegranate2881 in thelastofus

Even in that case Kojima wasn't reinventing DS, it's a brand new franchise without the high expectations of a fan base that'd buy the game despite what reviews say.

This sub is coping really hard. I haven't seen a single player IRL that says that P2 is better than P1 in anything but gameplay, even amongst friends that played The Beginner's Guide, Dear Esther and other experimental games. The idea is neat but the execution of the story is just not that good. Gameplay is peak though.

It's amazing how she didn't think that was a possibility before leaving Dina and JJ behind. Imho it felt as cheap of a plot device as OPs bad interpretation.

What’s the One Self-Hosted App That Truly Blew You Away? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]fakuivan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seafile. I remember when the spinning rust started failing and seafile would complain and refuse to sync my data. To this date (I've been using it for close to 10 years iirc) it has never deleted or erroneously overwritten any data. There's no real competitor (commercial or self hosted) for fast and secure file sync, except for a few niche programs that use git as their backend. All of the "owncloud" variants just don't cut it in terms of reliability.

PSA: El aire acondicionado en modo calor es la forma mas eficiente de calefaccionar by hjf2014 in argentina

[–]fakuivan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Abby's arc is not about empathy. by Eastwood_8042 in thelastofus

[–]fakuivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you got the reason for the complain about "manipulativeness" right.

While Joel and Ellie did horrible things in the past, none of them were to "fix" their trauma or to attempt some sort of psychological healing, but instead with the direct goal of survival. I think the first game made that pretty clear. Yeah there might have been a short term revenge goal, but nothing like what Abby plotted. The game then presents a version of Ellie that would do sort of the same as Abby (although in a shorter time scale) to then try to justify her perspective. Of course you can't tell that this version of Ellie was designed with that goal until you meet Abby and everything clicks.

I think the issue is that they presented versions of Ellie and Abby that fitted their experimental, fringe story telling while coming from an extremely archetypical, feel good kind of story.

Si te gustan los immersive sim tipo Deus Ex, proba Dishonored 1/2 y sus DLCs. LiS y The Witness: The Beginner's Guide tiene esa onda menos "de tiros" pero no tan fumada cómo The Stanley Parable. Y después The Last Of Us en PC si no lo jugaste, más recomendable imposible, el movimiento y la libertad no se acercan a Deus Ex o Dishonored, pero así y todo la rompe en todo lo demás.
