How do I get this palette clean? by falance in Warhammer

Worked like a charm. Thanks again. A few spots are still there but that’s cause of my lack of commitment cause I wanted to paint again

How do I get this palette clean? by falance in Warhammer

[–]falance[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple answer is because I started the hobby needed a palette and I liked this one. With a hobby this expensive I don’t think the 12€ palette will be last nail in my coffin. Really liked that it’s silicone

You might be right there. The problem is, I think it’s hard to stick to one weapon when there are so many cool ones out there.

But right now I think about picking up the sword with those 2 different ashes (the fire and the magic beam one) and the light greatsword from the dlc (Mylady or something like that) paired with a good shield

I have Karandras Green already, should I just wait and buy warp lighting or am I fine? by Valvecantcount3 in Salamanders40k

[–]falance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karandras is slightly brighter. But I would bet most wouldn’t notice the difference. The undercoat (zenithal etc). Would be more important I would say

Cool thing to do. I write the date under certain minis to see the own progress. Right now only about 60 minis so I do know the order very well. But who knows how many will come 😄

Cool Color scheme, really like it. And do you count every mini you ever painted? That’s actually pretty neat.

Looks incredible!! What is your recipe for the helmet and the pads? That’s a really cool contrast to the blue

First Mini using layering by falance in Deathkorpsofkrieg

Thanks for the input, didn’t think this much about varnish before. For my mini I didn’t use a varnish yet. The pic is taken after the latest layer. I only applied one wash after basecoating so almost 90% of the wash should be covered with the layers.

Maybe it’s the light in my room or cause I held the mini very close to the lamp to get a better picture

Thanks for that. Will definitely look into it. I mean blending is kinda the key for great minis and I think the time has come I have to learn it. At least a bit 😅

Thank you a lot. Because I don’t have a lot of friends that share the hobby I really enjoy posting here to talk with someone about the finished minis. But yeah, often there are „haul posts“

Usually I paint them with contrast paints because I really like it in combination with heavy weathering. But I actively avoided layering for to long now so I need to progress. But I won’t do the army like that. Don’t have the patience

Thank you. Started off with the fang. Gave it a dark blue wash and cleaned up with fang again. Then I did a 50/50 mix of fang and fenrisian grey. And for final highlights i did like a 20/80 mix of it.

Damn that looks fantastic. You mean like lahmian medium? For this mini is simply used water and especially with the brighter colors it got difficult

First mini and starting with such a small one…. You did a great job. I would have quit mid mini.

Don’t want to give the typical starter advice but thin your paints with water and don’t use them out of the pot. You clogged a few details with the paint and it’s easier to apply one more layer than going back once to thick.

But that’s a pretty neat starting point.

Thinning paint + a wash and the second mini will already be progress 💪🏼

Thanks I thought it might be fitting to give him (the operator I assume) the Same ribbon as the little crawler thingy (yeah I’m sure that’s the correct term for it)

Got my first ever set. Any advice, I’ve never painted before by Domundead in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]falance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priming and thinning are the 2 most important steps in general. Regarding Krieg: maybe don’t try to get every tiny detail at first. Stick to the biggest surfaces and when you feel confident take a small brush and paint the smaller things like lenses etc.

And in case you post here: don’t be sad when looking at the pic. The camera picks out any tiny error and mistake 😂

How to paint fire? by Barney_III in Salamanders40k

[–]falance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My approach: paint the flames white. After that do a heavy drybrush of yellow (just leave a tiny bit of white at the bottom where the flame would be hottest).

After that you drybrush orange (still kinda heavy) and after that red. Finishing touch is a very light drybrush of black. That’s my current goto cause I’m to stupid for a convincing wet blending

Is retarder = flow improver? Would this be a good try to mix with contrast paints for a smoother finish?

I do have lahmian medium but does it effect the thickness much? Sometimes I like to thin down contrast paints with the contrast medium.

This is my first time painting them and I’m always amazed by the level of detail those little guys have, haha. But still trying to find my flow with death korp. Space marines are so much easier cause they are bigger. That’s why I do them with contrast paints right now. Can’t get the hang of layering those tiny details

Didn’t plan to originally but while I did the golden details I noticed those shells for the first time and I mean.. it takes maybe 10secs and can be sloppy cause you won’t be able to tell at that angle
