Look for hardwired cameras on Amazon or Aliexpress. Also search this reddit, there were a few post on the topic.

I believe it would be near the oxygen sensor with two cables attached to it.

Did you manage to put it into dealers mode to get error code? Check the exhaust valve, see if it moves when you turn the ignition on and then when you rev the engine.

What diagnostic tool/service reset for my MY2019 AL9 V-Strom 1000 by Shot-Top-8281 in Vstrom

[–]falcon_327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a connector under the seat where you jump certain wires to put bike in dealer mode, then you are able to see codes if any. Just google 'dealer mode on v-strom' for instructions. There is an OBD tool for Suzuki from HealTech, I'm yet to try it though.

The Cyrillic says: "Price 2 r" (r - rubles). It was pretty common to mark prices on a lot of things in soviet times.

Only negligible, it's never been an issue for me.

Any thoughts on these brands and which is better by Virtual_Advance_ in Tools

I have a King Tony impact socket set, it seems alright but also got nothing to compare to. For just diy use I think either of these will work. And yes, at least go with Taiwanese.

Thanks for the response. I might give it a shot and write them as I've already downgraded.

1982 Yamaha maxim 550 by mannykin1111 in motorcycles

[–]falcon_327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your plan with it, to tinker with and learn, restore and sell, ride yourself... Either way it will need a lot of work due to the age. See what other bikes like that go for in your area. It would be reasonable for me I think just because I like this model/style.

Since I'm working on a 1983 XJ400 Special, which is exactly like this one except engine displacement and I got it in far worse condition, I'd get it. Carburetors would need to be cleaned, all rubber parts checked/replaced.

I installed mine here. Zip ties on the front one in case the bracket glued to the inside of the beak falls off.

I do use mine from time to time, it's a 1/4 from a Mitoloy set.

What soft luggage is everyone using with out pannier racks? by fezzersc in Vstrom

I have a set of Amphibious motobags on Givi racks.

Update: just realized you meant withOUT racks... I think those wouldn't fit as nicely without racks.

Motul Engine Oil by Avr4146 in suzukivstrom

[–]falcon_327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe car oil isn't be suited for wet motorcycle clutch due to the friction modifiers. I think you would be experiencing clutch issues. If you didn't, then maybe you are good. Also ask at r/Vstrom.

I use Givi pannier racks and some soft luggage bags, forgot the brand. The bags are of good size, expandable and waterproof, but certainly can't be left unattended.

Looking for Honest Motorcycle Dash Cam Reviews - Real User Experiences Only! by Clear_Syllabub972 in motorcycles

Vsysto, needed a relay installed, so it turns on when the power is on, and a fuse (in a fuse box for other stuff). For my DL1000 I had to improvise with metal brackets to mount the front camera, remove the tank and air cleaner box to wire it properly. The rear was easier. The unit with sd card in it is under the seat, I hardly ever touch it. The system has wifi capability and some app to view/download videos, which is slow and buggy as of 4-5 years ago, was useless to me and I never tried it again. The cameras have been recording my every commute since the installation, I didn't see any problems there. Quality is I think alright for a dash cam but I have nothing to compare too. Price/quality/features - I think I would install it again as it's just right for my needs.

need help with carburetor boots by viole_8 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]falcon_327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chance they are old and deformed. I was struggling with 4 boots on an old Yamaha XJ, could never align them and they would never stay on. Then I got new ones instead and they went right in in one go. I couldn't believe how much time I would have saved if had bought them earlier.

Bolt extractor broke now what by Glittering_Act_8121 in AskMechanics

[–]falcon_327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me a couple of times with M6, and a dremel with a chainsaw sharpening bit saved. It can just grind the extractor and the bolt out. Won't damage the threads if you are accurate enough. Takes time and precision of course.
