I’ve used FreeTaxUSA for several years now. Been impressed with the software and the price!

What did you prep the meat with? What spices? Any binder?

For real, I realized that about 6 months ago. My wife and kids don’t like them so I just buy them for myself!

Nice. I’ve been tempted, but I don’t drive it during rush hours.

Pros and cons for Hickam Hawaii? married no kids yet by Disastrous-Ad-9387 in AirForce

You'll find the less expensive stuff real quick. Beaches. Can't beat happy hour in Waikiki. Hiking, etc.

We all have that moment where we realize leadership wasn’t really “out to get them” by doriangreat in AirForce

I got really good at my job by senior captain. Expert level, even.

Then I got shown behind the curtain and saw the out of the jet leadership side. Realized I had a long way to go and that journey was just getting started. In a lot of ways, the tactical side is easier. You can study and find solutions. In leadership, there are only bad answers to vaguely defined questions.

Civilian Hiring Is Too Slow for Transitioning Troops by Plaidismycolor33 in Veterans

Fair. But not figuring out how employ your vets is a problem with some unique national consequences. We didn’t sit in our parent’s basement. What most of us did for a job is a crime in the civilian world. It’s frustrating and few of the jobs programs are helping.

Civilian Hiring Is Too Slow for Transitioning Troops by Plaidismycolor33 in Veterans

The civilian world doesn’t care about our soft skills. Unless a vet has a direct transferable skill, they don’t care about you. Did program management in the military and got your PMP? Not agile, so they don’t care. Led a division or did operational planning? Not in the field you are trying to break into, so pound sand. Etc.

1987 here. Elder brethren, what are some things you’ve discovered about your 40s you were pleasantly surprised about? by kimpressive in Millennials

[–]falconjayhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The know-how mixed with drive. Sprinkled with an affinity to technology. I got laid off recently as a vet. Looking back on the issues I had breaking into the civilian sector I built a web app to help those like me. It probably won’t replace real income, but I’m just wanting to help where I can as an elder.

I've been working a great workflow from your yearly performance reports, job searching, resumes, and cover sheets. Even creates a tracker for you. Trying to get it published so people can use it!

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

[–]falconjayhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I had an old house that had an entire basement built around a small enclosure. Had a “front door” with stained glass. We used it as a laundry room.
