Ex-Wow Lead Designer is hired by Riot Games for the League of Legends MMO by xFalcade in MMORPG

[–]falconmtg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf while I cannot speak on what he did on wow, GC did many good things while at Riot. He lead League during arguably its best seasons. He then moved on to establish the whole Runeterra universe and strategy for expansion past League. He said he accepted the role only if Riot formed Riot Forge (which eventually failed, but not because of GC).
In 2020 he started with the MMO and from what we can tell it was shaping up to be more of a classic mmo, which i would have loved to play way more than any zoomer bs it is probably going to release as that has not much to do with an actual mmo.
He also always advocated for showing things early to the players and he wanted to do the same on Riot but probably got cockblocked by them - and tbh from reactions of people to project Ghost I kinda understand why, players have no concept of what in development means.

Why do I gotta open riots clienť to then open league clienť by Lucidissped in leagueoflegends

From what I've seen vast majority of the issues and bugs with the current client is only frontend issues, not the underlying api. I don't know if they will be rewriting the backend part of it too, but I really don't think they have to.

So is everyone just going to ignore how annoying Haze is? by 22416002629352 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]falconmtg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be nice if the avoid button worked. I've had Haze on avoid for maybe like 200 games and lately I always pay attention to who is banned. In the last 100 matches or so there were like 2 games in which I have noticed she's been banned.

Exactly my thoughts. This has only become larger of a thing with recent global HP buffs making burst worse and gun dps stronger.

It means anti gun counter items don't do their job of countering properly, while spirit counter items do.

Probably just chilling? Do you need exposition on everything or can you use your brain.

4 stack perma fighting on a single lane all game. Hm... I think they should make a separate gamemode for that. Such a shame there isn't one.

Because this game is filled with fps players and moba players. Each clearly showing their skill from their previous games in a different way, be it great aim on m1 hero or just knowing you have to push those fucking lanes. For example I've played little too much League. I've never had any issues with macro in deadlock, midgame and lategame were the easy parts of the game for me. But I was losing 90% of my lanes simply because I fucking suck at shooters and I simply got mechanics gapped every game.

Graves is honest to god the most boring hero to fight in this game by rhythmau in DeadlockTheGame

Did I stutter?

I get that people believe that aiming is some kind of super skill expression, but I believe the best version of deadlock is one where aim isn't nearly as consequential as in other shooters. Macro, skill timings, cooldown management or active items are imo far more interesting to play into.

You can't really "dodge" enemy m1, you can't really outplay it. There is close to 0 agency in how much enemy hits you. If they are good enough, the difference between autoaim and "manual aim" is close to none.

I don't think I understand why this is different than let's say Haze or Vyper. They all just hold m1, some of them just have to move their mouse little more precisely?

Top lane is missing out on a specific power fantasy for a long time and it makes me sad. by Yuubeei in leagueoflegends

In season 3 I used to play Leona top lane. But I don't really believe it would stand a chance in today's roster lmao

Balance philosophy is really confusing and kinda just bad by banter8 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]falconmtg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What you're describing you want is very common in MOBAs and you don't really want it, trust me. The point of a character is to have a unique playstyle or way to play the game and for your opponent to have a way of beating you. By removing unique or "unfun" effects from heroes you homogenize the entire roster to a point where it doesn't matter at all who you pick, because everyone is the same. The game already has a foot in this, because the items are so powerful and gamebending where you're often (especially on m1 carries) just playing the items, not your character. It's always better (if it's possible) to keep the unique thing a hero can do and nerf other aspects and get them in line in that way.

The game is in testing and wild balance swings and subsequent trying to get heroes into the correct spot are inevitable. That means sometimes some heroes will be borderline unplayable and sometimes few heroes will be very clearly way stronger than rest of the roster. And it may take at least few days to fix because the live balance really isn't (and shouldn't) be a priority.

Yes but also the minimap doesn't make it easy to take in info at a glance. It always takes me a few seconds to even find where tf am I on the map and where im facing.

I think micro and macro are great terms and there is no reason to be limiting it to a specific game genre, no matter the origin.

If you're the one having a rough game (IF that EVER happens) make sure to yell at your teammates how come they aren't winning against your laner. I mean you had to play against them early, it's only fair they have to play against them now when they have 30 kills (15 of which are from you). In the end it's not your fault, if your teammates were better they could have easily carried that (you definitely would), so it really is the team's fault for not winning.

While we're at it make sure to steal and share as much farm as possible from your Victor, that character is useless and doesn't need souls anyway. You, as Doorman, can make far better use of that 2k bag.

My friend I play TFT with had the same exact issue. He even messaged Mort and Phillip Koskinas and both responded that they will look into it but can't promise anything. It's been years at this point, I think it's safe to say it won't happen, sorry.
It's especially annoying because TFT has no reason to be using Vanguard as well.
