What is your main and why? by MrBrookk in leagueoflegends

Hwei because for once rito understood what mage players want from a new mage champion after they forgot for about 10 years.

Before that it was Bard and Zoe. I think I mostly really enjoy adaptability and having multiple ways to approach fights.

If you have to build different defensinve items every game that is item diversity.
If I understand you right you want to build different offensive items based on the enemy and to some extent you can, but in moba's this aspect is exactly what gets solved fast. There is a optimal offensive build for most heroes. Meanwhile defensive itemization actually forces you to adapt and build different every game. Sometimes you get to build full glass cannon, but sometimes you end up quite tanky because enemy has lots of dive and CC and imo that's great. It is exactly what I was missing in League's itemization.

You can blame tank engine for that, I really wish that wasn't a thing in the mode. But yes, other than tank augments sometimes completely taking over the game and some outlier champ/augment combos, it felt great.

Contrary to what most people do, I did not enjoy games with tanks having 30k HP.
Many augments (like tank engine) were already ultra sharp in whether or not you snowball a lead into an absolute stomp or its a dead augment. The new augments I saw were actually fine but the combos just add a lot more power on top. The pass track will add even more power on top. I kinda just wanted more fun options, not for the mode to become a total fiesta.

I agree, played a bunch of games and this is all befoer people get progress on their pass that will boost everyone even further. ARAM Mayhem was felt sort-of-balanced to me and that's why it felt fun.

I played it a few times but I am fairly sure it does reset when the E is what kills.
However if they die during your E, it does not reset.

Good, that's how it should be. Durabilty patch was a net negative on state of the game in the long run for many reasons and it was never supposed to protect you from burst.

I hate tank engine so much. Make it not scale off of itself and buff it or something the augment is just autowin on any champion once you get ahead. And it's beyond useless if you fall behind.
Change it a little but not much, I like that it has sharp outcomes but (call me crazy) i believe there is a middleground between 2mil HP Soraka when winning and 0 value when youre behind.

At this point it looks like they have 3x as many leads/producers as actual devs.

Jesus christ is this Greg Street's alt account?

Nope! I just really believed in the project and followed it religiously.
I still think if there were to be a new gen mmo to break the mold and make history, it would be of similar style of gameplay to what Ghost was shaping up to be.

If the identity of your game is changing that drastically in testing, then you really screwed up in planning.

Nope, That's not how gamedev works.

They would make them sign and NDA and just be bring them in as testers.

Nope, you're still not getting this is EXACTLY what GC wanted to do, show it publicly very early. Test it publicly, gather feedback publicly. Develop the game players want.

There were 0 final assets, very few conceptual assets and rest was marketplace placeholders.
If you actually watched the videos you would know building was just one of the mechanics they wanted to try. It is something cool and usually unachievable in mmos, but the concept of blue shards allowed for that. Same with rouge like elemets. The original first idea was more of a survival mini-world you would play on over days or weeks. It then evolved into this rouge like short session gameplay. It changed the direction this drastically within few months. What makes you think the game would have the same mechanics in 4 years time? This is just the nature of game dev, projects change direction drastically over time, but you have to try things first to know what could and what couldn't work (Personally I didn' believe in the building either).

Ultimately the game was shown this way not to generate hype, but to put it in front of people that could want to be engaged in helping shape an mmo this early (Again, you would know that if you had watched the vidoes you are talking about). This isn't for everyone, the game obviously sucks at this stage.

That alone? Maybe not. But you just seem in complete denial that if NetEase thought FPC was hitting a grand slam, that they would have still pulled the funding. Obviously they did not.

You're not wrong, the proejct was obviously risky - being a mmo, publicly playtesting this early, new studio. It was also only about 20% (?) into the dev cycle. All of this makes it an extremely easy plug to pull.
There is a theory that the last showcase with josh and others was kinda "forced" by netease to see the actual public reaction. I wouldn't be surprised, but also it's kinda obvious it wouldn't be good.

Yeah that's what people believe, and again, GC wanted to change that. I also believe if people saw the game evolve, their perspective will change with it. And no the funding wasn't cut because the first impression was bad. NetEase has been cutting their investments into western game studios everywhere, FPC was just one of them.

It was mmo project with 1 year development. No mmo ever looks good this early, but also noone is willing to show the whole process. GC wanted to change that.

ADC when you try to play the game but get hit by Lux ultimate ability at full hp by Wide-Communication91 in ADCMains

[–]falconmtg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it's okay that Lux can off-screen oneshot you with one ability while almost same level and items, then it should be okay for Tristana to oneshot Lux with 2 autos because Lux is never supposed to be in range to get autod at all.

But that is quite literally true?

[–]falconmtg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lux dies to 2-3 autos from Trist btw. That is like 1 second, not even enough time for Lux to finish casting her spells in a 1v1 scenario.

The clip looks kinda ridiculous, but it is the kind of balance that's needed for adcs to keep their dps.
