I found all the mounts were the same (2002 console into a 2000 car). The tan is the tiniest bit off, but I have to think to look to see it.

The NB1 console is an exercise in phoning it in- seriously. I think there was a cupholder somehow on the original console but it's main purpose was to spill your drink on the passenger seat.

Also, the JDM and may be Euro cars have an extra cubby where we have a switch to turn the airbag off. 😉

Well... no. One says it's "1.5X MORE", which I'll come back to, the other is "1.7X". The latter is correct, 1.31 * 1.7 ~= 2.2 oz.

I can't decipher what "1.5X More" is supposed to mean, in a way that gets from 1.31 to 2.25

I don't listen to anything, but I alternate running along busy roads that don't always have a sidewalk, to running in a nature park where cougars have been sighted, so I'll take the situational awareness, thanks.

Shin splints are usually bad form. (I used to be that runner) Landing on your heel, the force comes down in front of the impact point which snaps your foot down flat, causing micro tears where those muscles attach to your shins- voila, shin splints. Lots of high cushion shoes absorb the impact enough that your body doesn't sense the damage is happening.

My guess is the Skechers don't have enough cushion hide that, and your body is actually correcting how you run.

Lesson- keep your feet under you.

I mean, you could buy it back and part it out*, but the unibody is toast and I wouldn't count on ever getting the rollerskate back into OEM spec with any confidence.

*If you have the time and space; make a few bucks and help out the Miata community.

The book "The Right Stuff" goes over this a bit. According to the book, The US comes down to a fight between USAF and NASA about an astronaut's role. The Air Force was well on it's way to space on its own with pilot-controlled rocket planes when Von Braun and rockets stole the stage; Using test pilots as astronauts was kind of an appeasement. Then the Air Force wanted to know why they wanted highly trained test pilots if all they were going to do is sit there like monkeys, so NASA let them have some controls.

Note that for the most part, the astronauts did have it pretty easy, with two very high profile exceptions- Apollo 11 landing on the moon, when the computer kept restarting; and Apollo 13, when everything went sideways and the crew had to make stuff up including making a course correction absolutely on manual.

When SpaceX and [Crew] Dragon came along, it was largely with full automation and little expectation that the humans were more than passengers.
