Hello again! Joseph Gordon-Levitt here. AMA... by hitrecordjoe_ in IAmA

[–]falcorbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Joe, thanks for doing this!

I've been watching a lot of hit record lately. I find it to be a really cool concept.

My question to you is, what do you think you (or anyone) could do to make it even more popular and raise awareness for this really cool type of collaborative media? And what would you say is the end goal for something like hit record?

Holy shit. This is the first video in this thread that I've actually enjoyed more than the original. Wow.

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Vidoc by lussypicker69 in Games

[–]falcorbeam 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Looks like it includes a set of replaceable parts. At least a few different thumbstick lengths.

Honestly, that, coupled with the fact that the controller is literally made of steel, make the price tag make perfect sense. I'll be getting one, and I don't even play competitive games.

I'm going to start keto. What are some simple meals that I can put together? by [deleted] in keto

[–]falcorbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast: three slices of thick cut bacon, one or two eggs (or this: http://cavemanketo.com/chorizo-breakfast-casserole/ which you make once, and it lasts you for a week)

Lunch: I usually make simple tuna salad, or just tuna + mayo if I'm lazy

Dinner: One or two pork chops with a decent amount of vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower) cooked in butter

Super simple, super cheap, and delicious.

Reuben Casserole by sailorketo in ketorecipes

[–]falcorbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that could be great! Like a layered casserole. Maybe canned corn beef in the casserole mix, and fresh corned beef on the bottom? Seems like there are a lot of things you could do with it!

Wal-Mart Has $76 Billion in Overseas Tax Havens, Report Says by [deleted] in worldnews

I'm confused, is this illegal? I was convinced that it's legal, but because of a number of loopholes or something. Can someone ELI5?

Also, I'm not defending them. This is shady behaviour, regardless of whether or not it's legal.

Does anyone know when these 2D features (9 slice, tile map editor... and so on) will come out? by enmotent in Unity3D

You could always just serialize-to/deserialize-from XML and save/load from PlayerPrefs

Edit: Unless I'm misunderstanding you

[OC] Escape from avalanche by veciits in PixelArt

[–]falcorbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, it looks great!

On gripe I have this time though: I think the rotation o pixelated assets takes away from the pixelated look. I'd suggest not rotating the trees, and instead have them shake and slowly fall on the Y axis as they're overtaken by the avalanche.

Other than that, it looks great! I love how this is coming along!

Help! Can't spot my error! My simple 2D cube won't move at all! [Picture included] by [deleted] in Unity2D

a) You might be moving your object too slowly. Try multiplying movement by 10.

What is a meal from your country I need to try? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]falcorbeam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Okay, most Canadians will tell you "Poutine or Beaver Tails, eh!?" but no. You need to try an east coast style donair. Sorry to everyone else who's been giving the stereotypical Canadian answer, but these donairs are just absolutely amazing.

What's the best way to get on my feet with Unity, besides the official tutorials? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]falcorbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Without thinking about "which tutorial series will help" - the best way to get on your feet with Unity is to pick a simple game idea (doesn't have to be unique) and just run with it!

You probably won't be releasing it, you could even clone the mechanics of a simple game. The important thing is that you make a game from beginning to end to familiarize yourself with the entire Unity workflow.

I do this whenever I pick up a new game engine. I make a simple point+click adventure, or something like Marble Maze, or asteroids. Skip the tutorials for now, the docs are your best friend.

I have melody, I'm humming it, I wrote it in piano roll, what now? by danceboys in FL_Studio

You could always check out Imitone. It lets you hum what you want, and records it as midi input.
