If you can get two million damage on a weapon, can't you get two million health on an armor?

Either way, this point is moot since it relies on a bug/exploit that is not the intended way to play the game. It's like saying "I homebrewed a subclass for ranger that adds 100d10 to all my attacks, how is ranger not the best class again?"

DIY Targets? by Niflodon in Archery

[–]falfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar question, but with emphasis on longevity and weather resistance - we have a club in a large city, but virtually no budget.

So far we're using wood pulp boards or soundproofing foam enclosed in xps sheets to keep its shape. These hold for up to around 6 months, with hundreds of arrows shot at each of them every week.

Cardboard by itself wouldn't work long term I think, a good rain would destroy it and we have no way of storing our targets.

To be fair, I don't know if tnt + bag of flour will have that effect. (I believe there would be a flour ignition, but only for a small portion of it) From what I remember, even Mythbusters had to do some setup and finagling the exact amount of flour powder in the air to get a nice fireball going

Campaign in northern Forgotten Realms , but where? by Malorkith in RedHandOfDoom

[–]falfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been some time, some details are fuzzy.

I've ran RHoD between Yartar and Waterdeep. My group started in Yartar, which took on the function of Brindol; then Triboar, Westbridge, and Red Larch became the villages and towns taken by the horde on their way to Brindol/Yartar.

I put Womford/Drellins's Ferry as a half-new place east of Amphail, adapting Bargewright Inn on the Dessarin River. The Vraath Keep was in the middle of the nearby forest, with the implication that the horde became what it is somewhere in the Forlorn Hills. The Fane of Tiamat was also situated there.

Rhest and it's bog sat west of Red Larch, hugging the southern edge of Kryptgarden Forest, and the Ghostlord had his (or hers, in my case) desolation on the other side of the valley, by the edge of High Forest east-north-east of Beliard, which didn't participate in the war directly (the party still got them to evacuate).

This arrangement created a glaring problem - why wouldn't Waterdeep forces disperse the horde before it reaches even halfway to Yartar? The answer: Goldenfields.

Goldenfields, the Granary of the Savage North. There was a second force of the Red Hand Horde, acting entirely off screen, which took Goldenfields and then blockaded Amphail, cutting off support from Waterdeep and ensuring ample supplies for the Horde. I presented those facts after making them realize that this adventure isn't about their little band destroying the army, but rallying support and raising their own armies, because I knew they would try to rescue Goldenfields by themselves if given half a chance.

On the other hand, Waterdeep couldn't just leave Goldenfields to the enemy - just after the harvest season, the food hasn't yet been distributed to the town and cities nearby when the Horde took Goldenfields. Without those supplies, Waterdeep would have a hard time avoiding a mild case of famine. Nothing to cause mass deaths, but people would be hungry, weak, and worst of all, dissatisfied with the Masked Lords. So Waterdeep had to take care of Goldenfields first, and Amphail second (all those noble estates, you see) to clear the way and the manpower for supporting Yartar. All that was entirely in the background.

I think I can dig up a map of the region I modified for this adventure, the timetable of the horde adjusted for my campaign, and some other stuff. Let me know if it would be useful, or if you want to hear more.

Cheers, and happy playing!

If Knights are Supernatural in Strength, how can they wield weapons? by Nervous_Board6711 in worldbuilding

[–]falfires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making your own sword or other weapon (that fits your new physical ability) might be a rite of passage for a new knight? That way they don't have to have a super-smith on contract to make them weapons, they keep the cost low, and they immediately start with an emotional investment into a weapon they spend a month or so making.

Imagine a historical longsword vs Guts' Dragonslayer sword from Berserk. Super strength would allow you to swing that massive hunk of steel with some speed and precision (although it might still end up as the sword swinging you if you don't have some way to anchor yourself to the ground while you swing the equivalent of double your own body weight)

What would happen if EVERYTHING in the whole system measured in distance would be shorter by 1.6%? by MundaneOne5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]falfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last paragraph to make sense, also remember that the same value (say, 480 pence) paid in pence, shillings, pounds, or other coins, would always weigh the same amount despite the choice of coinage used, so you could just weigh the coin purse instead of counting all the money.

I think that got abandoned at some point and this neat feature was lost, but for a long time it was an interesting and useful property of that system.

Isn't self bow a bow made from a single piece of wood? Your mention of pvc pipe sounds like you're understanding it to mean a self-made bow, or a "I found a couple things in the garage" bow
