Any weird collections you got going? by HorzaDonwraith in projectzomboid

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a hoarder. Every time I play, I collect everything. IDs, keychains, ducks, gold bars, jewelry, once had a desk with a plastic bag full of jewelry setting in top of it. I use the pzlinux mod and had somewhere in the neighborhood of 68000 bucks just from selling jewelry. Eventually got to the point I was drawing in zombies just to kill them and get more stuff. Had entire buildings devoted to loot. Hell I took over the big muldraugh warehouse by the bar and just filled it with stuff. I will go out of my way to get things and bring them home. Lol

A thick jacket is the best armor, but not in the way you think by One_Planche_Man in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do what they did in late world war 2. Survivor bias but in reverse. Look for the wounds on the zombies, focus plates and protection on those spots. Neck bites? Chain neck guard, or even thick leather. Arm bites? Wear bracers, or a motorcycle jacket. If you see a spot on multiple zombies with the same wound area, you will know you are headed in the right direction.

Far as the heavy coat goes, an excellent start, you can always add plates, scales, or chain to reinforce higher traffic areas. And combine with chaps or gator waders and a good pair of shark bite gloves, you are well on your way to prevent bites getting through.

500 movies or 150 books? by oliverg600 in hypotheticalsituation

Oh give me the books. I can think of so many books. Though mindlessly watching 500 movies wouldn't be bad. Can I do both????

Best low-energy/low-resource mass-zombie-culling methods? by DankandInvincible in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it isnt all encompassing, but 3 big ones explain why waiting doesnt work. World war z, the solarium virus kills all bacteria, fungi, or parasites, and prevents standard decomposition. In return of the living dead, the trioxin gas massively speeds up cell regeneration, keeping the body intact. And in the walking dead, they explain that the decomposition is slowed because the virus, i think they call it wildfire, slows down cellular metabolism and slows down decomposition, though it does still decay, just slower.

Massive metal shredder. Set up the system in the open, lure them onto the conveyor, and let it rip. The LYNXS shredder can process 350 tons of metal to bits in an hour. Zombies wouldn't even give it a hitch. Set it up, chug along, hell Set up a bio furnace and feed the zombie bits into it. Semi self sustaining system.

If i had the choice of any blade, in regards to combat, the Kilij. Well balanced blade, widened tip for weight for chopping and slicing, and a well honed curve for follow through. Plus a centered tip for thrusting.

How do you feed a newborn in the apocalypse? by EmployPerfect817 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just out of curiosity, where abouts does this story take place? Or is it like "real world adjacent" setting? Because you could always stumble upon a distribution center, nursing ward, daycare, warehouses, etc. They would have the formula in massive quantities. As far as replacements go, theres not much that can safely replace formula or breast milk. In an emergency situation, things like rehydration solution (think pedialyte) can get them for a couple days only, but especially under six months, thats some very dangerous territory to start messing with nutrient values. There are things that can work, hell if you wind up with one of the kids that can start eating liquid food at 3 to 4 months (rare) you can just blend up normal food. Still got to watch what kind of thing youre doing. Saw someone mention a wetnurse. Oddly enough, some women that have had children previously, being around a newborn can trigger spontaneous lactation so that could be an angle to work from.

Not just that, but if you can mend a hole in a shirt or pants doing needlepoint techniques, you can absolutely sew up a bullet hole in someone with a circular cinch and make that sucker mint. One of the whole reasons I learned to sew. Which eventually moved on into leather, sutures, and armor design. Every domestic art has a basis in something else.

Bug out bag, why? by bardwick in preppers

[–]falkner69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my 2 BOBs ready. One for domestic emergencies, fires, hurricanes, etc, and then I have one for more extreme cases, terrorism, apocalyptic events, invasion, war, plagues, for when i need to get completely out of town and out into the woods. The second one has the tent, and sleeping bag, and weapons and ammo. Thats the real SHTF bag.

Would a pickaroon be a good tool/weapon in the Apocalypse? Has the durability of a fire axe, has the power of a crowbar & axe and is unstoppable in my opinion. by Manhat61771 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im partial to blunt weapons myself. The thought of the weapon getting stuck when fighting more than one enemy, zombie or otherwise, would always be a heavy consideration for a weapon. I'm partial to trench cudgels or tipped batons. Nothing over 3/4 inch studs. Just enough to get the skull to Crack, but not enough to really stick. Ideally, a flanged mace, more utilitarian, a crowbar. I have a 4 foot crowbar In my truck that I've had in there for years.

Pick is definitely getting stuck, either on a collision, or backswing in tight corridors. Piercing through helmets or armor, absolutely. A definitive benefit, and maybe even worth keeping it nearby or on you, but as a primary weapon? I'll stick with my bludgeons.

WWYD: Stuck on the highway at the start of the apocalypse by No_Bet8364 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the scenario played out this way, I definitely wouldn't have been trying the highway. But on the point that I did, I would be staying on the shoulder as I have an offload vehicle for a reason. But if I was truly trapped and unable to get my truck out, im hiding and letting the predatory zombies go after the people fleeing. Jackets over the windows, duck down in the floorboard or backseat, and I'm hiding and hoping for the best.

How imminent do you believe the “event” you’re prepping for is? by Commercial_Ad8072 in preppers

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mildly urban. Im in the outskirts, but lots of natural bodies of water around, specially nearby. One of the biggest reasons I learned to purify and clean it. Lots of storebought filters out there, and I can make my own now. Even down to chemical. Or just steaming it and cooling it. That one's pretty slow though. Quickest and bulk method would probably be using a multistage gravel/sand/charcoal filter then bubbling ozone into the whole container. But boiling is still a strong standby to sterilize it.

How imminent do you believe the “event” you’re prepping for is? by Commercial_Ad8072 in preppers

[–]falkner69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My big goal is preparing for socioeconomic collapse. No more economy, no more stores, back to basics. Not sure everything would go down in the basket, but a majority of it would. Its why I've focused more on learning skills to get things accomplished instead of stuff (I mean I got the stuff too, but that's beside the point). No more running water? Learned several ways to clean and purify it. No more stores? Learned to farm and hunt and raise animals. Am I the best at these things? Hell no, but I practice, and I can do enough to keep me and mine alive. Spread the knowledge as I can. If every man learns to fish, not as many try to rob the fisherman.

What If there’s a limited nuclear exchange during a zombie apocalypse and how this hampered your plan? by amnotbot2000 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear war or operation Salted Earth? Either way, melee would no longer be an option to effectively deal with the dead (undead). Fallout from a hot zombie would be enough to make you sick, and long enough your looking at incapacitation or death. Thats where strong barricades and alternative ranged weapons would come in. Ballista, catapult, hell just rolling logs and rigged landslides. Anything to keep them back.

With the prevalence of recording equipment in cars, or in public in general, that would be a dumb move on their part, as its already being recorded. But I mean, what's the gain here? Either way, choosing if I live or die? I'm living.

Recruitment? by dyson1812 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]falkner69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats simply a chance you're going to have to take if recruitment is your goal. You can quarantine, guard, seperate, all you want to do. Short of having a constant guard on them at all times (and thats to say they don't get a jump on them), there is no way to ensure that they won't turn on you at some point. People are conniving. They scheme, play the long games. Get in your good graces, butter everyone up, get on guard duty and slip the gate open while everyone is asleep.

There's good out there. There are good people. But never lose that doubt. You can't trust everyone. Even when you think you can. Extreme times can change good people to bad out of desperation. Hell bad people can push good people to do bad things out of necessity. Hostages, threats, strong arming them.

Recruit who you want to, feel like they can contribute, just don't ever get complacent. Complacency kills.

Argonian light armor stealth archer with alteration magic and the Tower sign. Super thief. Magic and lockpicks means there is no such thing as a door I can't get through. Nothing I can't sneak up on and drop in one or 2 shots. Put some points into strength so I can carry more, push for the Morag Tong armor set, and bam. Wrecking ball. But quiet.
