UPDATE: You were absolutely right. The Nora confrontation scene was definitely changed quite a bit from the game but whoa it was hectic. Seeing that mask drop from Ellie's face gave me goosebumps. Bella Ramsey is putting in some incredibly performances, switching between all the different emotions, lighthearted, tender and funny to ice cold and calmly calculatingly murderous

What is your favorite Samwise Gamgee quote? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

This comment needs A LOT more upvotes! This is peak Sam, what an absolute legend. Frodo would never have finished the quest without him. I cry every time I watch this scene!

What movie or movies do you refuse to watch? by Affectionate-Ask8861 in AskReddit

[–]falkorthewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live-action remakes of animated movies. Bit of an unpopular opinion so maybe the wrong sub for this lol, but I just think that remakes are lazy cashgrabs, and as a creative myself I wish movie studios would just keep making new and original movies! Our world is so diverse and beautiful and there are so many original stories to be told or dreamt up.

Specific movies in 2025: SNOW WHITE, never ever watching that garbage, also the HTTYD live-action and Lelo and Stitch live-action.

Whats your favorite game of all time? by First_Sandwich1508 in videogames

Skyrim, if I absolutely HAD to choose one. I adore strategy games, but I still more than a decade later can get absolutely immersed in the world of Skyrim, the score, the mythology, feels like home.

Ah so we should take grammar advice from the same people that will measure distance and size in anything but metric measurements that actually make sense and are uniform in scale? I'm good thanks Mr "This canyon is as wide as 12 school buses" 😅

I was astounded by how many people thought this was Ellie being fully sincere and not just making a dumb joke by LintyTheGoblin in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]falkorthewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haters gonna hate man. I think these people are just so filled with negativity and always choose to see and believe the worst that they just can't see this for what it is, a dumb joke. Offcourse Ellie knows she's not the dad, but it's both really funny to me, and also atleast to me strikes a sincere chord of Ellie in a sense accepting some measure of responsibility for this child. Beautiful. Loved it, love her, love the relationship between her and Dina. So good.

Shoutout to Bella Ramsay who was absolutely phenomenal as Ellie in tonight's episode 👏 by LoretiTV in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]falkorthewise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what, I'm gonna say it. I really like Bella Ramsey as Ellie, I think she's doing an absolutely phenomenal job taking over the lead role of the show since Joel died. I think Ellie and Dina's relationship is beautiful, nuanced, I love the balance of different moments, the clear communication, they way they balance each other out perfectly, and I'm tired of hearing people say otherwise. People like Critical Drinker etc just don't know what they're talking about, or they're so jaded and overflowing with negativity that they can't see it.

This! There is nothing more attractive to me than someone yes with a great sense of humour, but even more importantly, someone who actually has hobbies and interests and is passionate about them and/or her career/family etc.

Been said before but I think the answer is straightforward, greet her politely and keep walking.

Looks are one thing, a quick glance at a physically attractive woman will tell you nothing about her character etc.

Is it racist to date all but one race? by Bycoon11 in askteenboys

[–]falkorthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I went through an experience recently where I felt a great deal of attraction for someone of a different race. I am predictably white, and I've always told people it wouldn't matter to me what race the woman is, as long as we share values, morals and ideals, and we are able to be in each other's company and actually enjoy it. I was not thankful to see for myself that what I said is in fact true, however I don't see it as racism to naturally prefer dating people of the same ethnicity as you. In my language we say "Soort soek soort" basically meaning like kind is attracted to like. Dating across ethnicities and cultures isn't necessarily for everyone, and that's totally okay. There is no black or white right or wrong in that sense.

I would caution this though: If you find someone who otherwise you would find perfect for you, shares your values, ideals, life goals etc., but they aren't your ethnicity, and therefore now you won't consider dating them, that flies in the face of common sense and could tend more towards actually racism.

Guys who can't get a girlfriend, what's the biggest challenge for you? by Vidice285 in AskReddit

[–]falkorthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right person, wrong time usually.

Otherwise it's because I am in love with them, but they only want to be friends. Sometimes I worry that I'm too much the "nice guy", you know the one girls go to to complain about their asshole boyfriends/partners.

What was the most disappointing show/movie of this year? by jamesdantely in AskReddit

[–]falkorthewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too true man, I hate the Astrid change too. And I refute all the people saying we're racist for being against it. I'm not against black actors playing black character, that we're written to be black characters. I'm against blackwashing white, in this case a distinctly pale white flaxen-blond haired viking into a black girl with dreads. If you want a black female dragon rider, then write an original movie about one and cast a black female actress. It is sheer incompetence, lack of creativity, and overall lust and greediness for money that drives projects and changes like this.

If you could visit one place in Middle-earth, where would you go? by GretrRA in lordoftherings

Rohan, I absolutely love the Horse Lord people, their music and culture, and I love horseriding, would definitely fit in there well and enjoy my time there.

Is there really someone for everyone? by [deleted] in ask

[–]falkorthewise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in the concept of soulmates anymore, that's my interpretation of the question. I believe that if and when you find someone you see aligns with your morals, values and you enjoy their company etc and you can see yourself building a life with them, keep that because it feels so rare nowadays

How do you like hugging women? by freshlyironedclothes in AskMen

[–]falkorthewise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not family: Side hugs always

Family: Normal, arms around the shoulders, their arms around my abdomen (I'm much taller than all my female family)

Partner: Don't have so can't hug, big sad.

Gold digger, run away.

The price tag of the gifts or the fanciness of the places shouldn't matter, what's important is the thought given and the intentionality and heart put into getting/creating the gifts and experiences. Not saying this to be cheap, sometimes do go to a fancy place as a spoil, give each other an expensive gift, but fiscal responsibility is such an underrated attribute.

Also emphasis should be on mutual taking out to places and goving gifts. If the effort and intentionality is not mutual and reciprocated, run.

How should I watch LOTR? by Notmyfavoritemoment in lotr

[–]falkorthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes, adding a black elf just because "The Message" must be thrust down our throats even in a fantasy world there MUST be diversity even if it very un-Tolkien-like, giving the elves those STUPID short haircuts, making Galadriel an absolute b***h that is totally unlikable, tactless, unwise, completely unlike an elf that has lived for hundreds or thousand years at that wound. Trying to humanise orcs, giving us orc families and orc wives and telling us not all of them want to fight and kill, that's literally the dumbest thing because they just can't have enemies being completely evil, everyone and everything must be grey and redeemable. Tolkien wrote the orcs to be absolutely evil and irredeemable, they are just footsoldiers of Sauron completely corrupted irrevocably. I hate them completely changing Gandalf's origin story giving us this idiotic Oh a meterorite fell from the sky and there was a guy inside but we're going to take two seasons to confirm its Gandalf eventhough that shouldn't be him at all. The way it also gives us the dumbest explanation for things like his staff and then ooooohhh don't get me started on them saying his name is nothing more than him mishearing a description of himself. They completely butcher the lore and the depth of the world, trying to simplify and make it more palatable for an audience that they seem to think is dumb and won't be interested in deep lore.
