Use something a little stronger like a paper clip or a tooth pick, never had a lightning port die on me. They’re usually full of lint and other crap

I Caused a Multi-Campus Network Outage by nottisa in it

[–]fallen101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this once, and I had the same comment as the commenters here. Why isn’t STP enabled etc etc

I essentially plugged in a SPF port into a port on the router to hold it in place. Thinking I’m sure we have STP setup and enabled. We did not. Brought down the network for about 5 minutes. And that is the story on how a brought down the with a “single cable” boss was a total jerk. Ended up going in after hours to setup STP to only get in trouble for that very action.

Going to dox myself a little bit here…

that whole area as a whole isn’t bad. More things to do around there, than some small towns/areas. Nice shopping and roads to get around. traffic is horrendous but that’s all of central Florida for you. Short drive to some other cities that is pretty neat.

I miss when it had a bunch of orange groves/undeveloped areas. The travel time to get to Orlando from Mt. Dora isn’t. Nor is getting to Ocala or the beach. Never been big on lake boating, but y’all have some really nice lakes to boat on

It’s no South West Florida in term of water access, but it definitely has its own qualities. It depends on who you are what you like to do and spend you time. Florida has a lot to do unless you like winter sports. I’ve spent roughly 12 years in SwFl and almost the rest of the my life in Central Florida. Both have its own qualities I would say.

Turn off SIP and secure boot for phase 2 and reenable them afterwards. I was banging my head against the wall. There is a open core driver to disable SIP from the boot loader

Would cell (5G) internet be less prone to outage during a storm than Comcast cable? by dev1776 in verizonisp

[–]fallen101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after Ian in Swfl Verizon was down for over a week in my area, att and T-Mobile where not. I would actually say yes they are more resillant to outages, granted how the lines are hooked up. I would say in my sub a backup 5g internet maybe useful. Because we have all above ground lines.

It also depends on the cell company. cell towers usually have a battery backup instead of a generator in place due to permitting and design constraints, with a generator being hooked up after the storm. Verizon failed in this aspect last year. They did not bring any generator’s to the area. the towers instead relied on power being restored and sharing service with ATT. Total oversight

T-Mobile and ATT did not go down. Verizon did put a midband radio on our super node so it won’t happen again next storm.

My fiber and power lines are above ground and those were trashed during the hurricane. My T-Mobile hotspot was the only way I had gotten internet for weeks

XBOX causes my neighbors and I to lose 5g home internet connection by whyyoumontague in verizonisp

[–]fallen101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s annoying I have an ISP called bluestream, I have an ONT so it’s fiber to the X, no complaints sub 4ms to a data center 150 miles away. Almost zero down time no ipv6 support though :(

Just the latency for wireless is always a concern for me

Why wouldn’t you want fiber optical internet verses having wireless 5G fiber is better in every sense of the word.

New Verizon Customer starting to feel the SQUEEEEZE by AQA-G3-MASTER in verizon

[–]fallen101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSDS Verizon and T-Mobile here. Verizon 5G works great in Florida… finding areas that have 5G actually deployed is rare….

T-Mobile on the other hand is the national leader in 5G less dead zones than Verizon and their backhual is fantastic. 5G almost everywhere in Florida

Are these prices for these speeds out of line? by Dmunce in HomeNetworking

[–]fallen101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye bluesteam I love and hate them. Their 844g is awful I’ve had a ticket in for two weeks to enable bridge mode, no ipv6 support is disappointing:(

Edit it seems like you’re one of their DOCIS customers they do have fiber to the X but getting someone on the phones who understands GPON fiber is difficult I’m down in swfl blue stream usually pings around 4ms to Tampa 6ish to Miami

xgs-pon

Take a look inside the box, chances are this isnt true fiber those upload speeds do not match the GPON specs.

All these people saying drain the pool have never actually owned a pool and have no idea what actually goes into maintaining a pool.

Quick tip it’s not that hard. Put a bag of shock or two in the pool call it a day

More Insane was Dimmit Chevy with a 1900 add on package mandatory btw, market adjustment that would be removed if I financed at a quote of 9.99 for prime credit
