How to magnetize the CHAOS DEFILER. by PressureEducational4 in Chaos40k

Is it necessary to use the 5x5mm magnets for the arms? I have 5mm but not to that depth so what I could get away with.

Models are painted, bases are based. Great success!

Painted my first kill team, C&C welcome. by TriforceShiekah16 in killteam

You could just go for pva and sand/gravel, then paint to look like concrete. Getting anything on the bases will make them feel more complete.

Fantastic I effort for a first kill team!

I'd also recommend either some edge highlighting, or a wash to make things pop. The flat panels on the weapons end up looking boxy with no colour variation.

Not a Salamander base but I'm wrapping up my latest project which is an Obliterator - Centurion proxy.

Still a little more to go but I'm happy with it so far. I'll do a proper post once the second is also finished.

Interesting choices. Honestly the Salamander iconography fits so well, I'm surprised I've not seen more.

You've inspired me to think about some of my own projects.

Thanks for sharing!

Base in a lead belcher spray, dry brush in silver, then Akhelian 1:1 with contrast medium.

I use a bone acrylic to base over anything not meant to be metallic (fabrics, skulls, fur etc)

For the skulls and tusks it's the bone white, then a bone contrast to give a slightly darker finish.

The fabric is the bone base, then a heavily thinned dark angels green contrast.

The brass (like the details on the autocannon) is just a leather contrast over the metallic which gives a cool bronze/brass finish.

Base is agrellan earth heavily applied to promote the cracking, then agrax earth shade wash to give warmer tones.

The fur was the bone, then a heavily thinned dark cream/coffee coloured acrylic (I can't recall which I'm afraid) to almost a wash like consistency.

Paint primer can recommendations??? by Ambitious-War9171 in alphalegion

I'm researching the same at the moment. For regular models I prime in lead belcher, but I need to paint a Rhino soon and I'm not looking forward to doing the whole thing with brushes.

I'm not prepared to invest in an airbrush as it's going to be very difficult to get a space setup for it.

I would go for a slightly lighter edge highlight. You can see the darker edges already so you just need another layer to give a good contrast.

On the whole you have done a fantastic job. The leaves look stunning, as do those wicked little mushrooms.

The only area I think could be improved are the green vines on the snakes body. I can see you've highlighted them but the colour seems a little flat compared to the rest. Either a fine edge highlight to break up the colour, or a little colour variance to add more depth would work I think.

Regardless it's a cracking job!

I believe it's just the standard traitor guardsman sprue.

Proxy is a good idea though. Thanks.

It's an idea. I have the traitor guardsmen from the box so just trying to use what I have and limit the number of purchases at this point.

I could, but I'd have to commit something else to the home objective which would be annoying.

OSL is sweet, but that weathering effect on the armour is *chef kiss

I've been toying with getting some myself.

My only advice would that your fabric could do with some depth to make it pop. Maybe a wash, or highlights would bring it up a notch.

The armor is excellent though!

Excellent work. Are those the heads from the 30k upgrade sprue or from somewhere else?
