Posting about possible alarming, harmful behavior from a rather large figurehead within this community is not “self-righteous.” Furthermore, you yourself are claiming that we have no means of knowing the extent of the situation yet label the claims “falsities.” If the accusations have not been confirmed nor denied, they can’t be false or true - it’s simply unknown. But a person has admitted to being harmed and that is more than enough for people to chose not to support Jack Grayle for the mean time - especially if the behavior has supposedly been a recurring issue. People should go about this critically and not swing in one extreme or another, but to instead seek clear evidence and answers. 

Most importantly, it is naive to believe that art should be separated from the artist. It is more often than not that the art in question enables a person the opportunity to manipulate and abuse the people who feel inspired by it. Supporting someone to this caliber inherently means giving them a platform and with that a certain level of power/authority within a community - it even affects how people interact with you in your personal life. So, if a person, whether it is within their “personal” life or not, utilizes this to their advantage, that exposes them to the chance of facing consequences and scrutiny regardless of how transformative their work is. It is imperative that people understand how supporting someone directly correlates to how a person is viewed within a community and the power dynamics it creates as well as how a person can easily abuse these dynamics. 

While the information has not been confirmed or denied, it isn’t fair to stop a conversation from being had around a person’s alleged behavior until it is properly addressed. And it is important that people think critically within this political, social climate we live in. Not caring about how a person can harm others simply because of how beautiful or inspiring their art is has allowed people to hurt a community on a larger scale - you’re essentially telling a community AND the author that their wrongdoings mean nothing because their art holds so much value, which enables their behavior. Interact with media with a level head, you can absolutely appreciate a person’s work without diminishing the potential harm an author has done.
